If you think the fg is better than the fgx than you seriously have a poor understanding of car design. Yes looks are subjective, but anyone with a brain can see the new Falcon is better.

What does anyone's understanding of car design have to do with what people think of the looks? You will either like it or you wont, your understanding of car design doesn't change that.
Calling people stupid for having a different opinion on something that isn't based on facts but subjective preference doesn't really help your point either. Edit: I've seen an XR6 in the flesh, I don't like some parts of the design but it's something fresh and different. It's not my favourite falcon, I personally would rank it about 12th somewhere. IF they did a GT it may have helped the cause of the FGX a bit (as you can see from my list). My preference FG GT-F BF 40th Anniversary XA GT XB GT XC Cobra XY GT XW GT TE50 BA GT EB GT EL GT FGX XR8

Does anyone ever wonder if these opinions are due to the fact we've seen FG's kickin around some heavily modded for 6 years now and atm most of us are still hanging out for the next FGX pic to pop up on the net.. Call me crazy but all the pro FG fellas I think your eyes are glazed cause uve seen em runnin 11's easy with stock internals, heard them with big exhausts dropped on the ground crankin gears n so on.
When u see a FGX XR8 with all the good bits attached blazing up the road n u's still don't like what u see well I be ringin alf Stewart to stone the flamin crows!! ;-) |

In 2014 post-FPV demise, who actually owns the 'GT' badge in the context of Falcon's?

Don't have to see something in the flesh to like or not like something... I've never seen Jen Hawkins in the flesh but I'm pretty damn sure she's a looker.... Same as I've never seen Julia Gillard in the flesh, and well, she's not.

How can you put a gt-f above a gt in looks?
They look the ******* same. All FPVs in the fg Range look the same. I'm sure the new falcon xr8 will put a fg gt to shame Side by side. Just wait and see |

GT-F looks better than GT. Wheels, stripe package n interior top it off. Subtle differences but they more than stand out to me, spot a GT-F from a mile away.

I agree the gt-f is definitely the best looking falcon out there. Saw a black with gold stripes today, looked stunning!

Fg gtf better looking than an xa-xc coupe?? Better car, no question, but better looking.....
Fgx looks very striking in the flesh, and as others have said they wait till they stay getting around slammed with rims and 400+rwkw, I reckon 95% of the haters will be gone in the next few months once these start rolling out.

To a non car person or even some non Ford persons, they probably look the same .... but then who really cares about that? I think they are different enough and look great for the last of the GT's To shame is a bit strong I reckon. Be better no doubt as it is the new model with new bits and a new look ....... BUT, they don't have a GT badge and that is important to many. It must be important to you that cars are differentiated more by looks to impress others ...... in that case a GT badge has just a bit more cred to others than XR8? (Not dishing on XR badge but just making a point ) Funny thing is ..... the SS looks so similar to the GTS it is frightening! Who cares! Not those who own a GTS I am sure.

GTF's are quite unique, the black highlights do make them stand out.
Also its very hard to shame a car that has a nice GT wing and that awesome FPV metal grill in my books. The plastic grills just don't get close. But each to their own, as I said if they did a gt in fgx it might've made it higher up my own list. If you find it to be the best looking falcon that's great, no skin off my nose. All my cars are selected on what pleases me not anyone else.

And why is the 'new Falcon better' if you think having a brain allows you the capability to subjectively assess it.

I don't see how something that is going to use GT parts (brakes, wheels, engine etc) but have a standard frame with standard kit will look better than a GT. If you park a B series GT next to the FGX you will appreciate the GT more knowing the extra attention that was put into it made it what it is

I appreciate the extra engineering in the FGX and although it is "better" in that regard the FG was a better overall package in my opinion |

I think the FG-X is certainly less cohesive than the FG.

It is the by product of a car manufacturer shutting down. But goodluck to anyone the buys one. The interior is FG with Sync, and the car gets a new front and rear end that doesnt suit the rest of the car. Good luck to anyone that buys one and hope they enjoy it.

This thread can now take a break for a few hours. The relentless narrow minded diatribe from some is making up 90% of the content and it's helping no one. Those who can't comprehend that other people have their own opinion, no matter which side it is, take a step back and think twice before you post rubbish.

Lets try and be as positive or in the very least, constructive in this conversation?
When posting, remember that some love some wont but those who do no like the looks do not need to denigrate those that do! There is absolutely no need to to tell those that love the new design it is crap. It proves nothing, is offensive to those who are buying one and NO ONE needs to know that you hate it. It proves nothing. There are ways to discuss the pros and cons without being annoying .......

The internet is a toxic place Dazz... Strange things happen when people can voice their opinions without filters or judgement from their peers.

Looking through this thread just surprised to see how much effort Ford has gone to with this update. They have done double what I expected. The car looks fantastic. My only wish would have been the Ecoboost 4 in the XR6 sedan and XR6 ute.
XR8 is going to be a hit and the G6E looks fantastic. Plus 29 grand for a XR6 Ute! I hope they advertise this a lot to the young blokes out there. |

I don't think it's fair to say to those who don't like it "not to comment". I didn't realise threads were made so all the sheep can nod and smile together with no criticsm what so ever

From those in the know, what sort of timeline can potential buyers expect for the XR8 reveal?
Prices Friday Oct 3rd? Cars in Showrooms when? Demo cars available for test drives? Do people still think there will be a test drive opportunity? or given its the 335 engine, and some are thinking limited availability are we likely to be expected to buy without a test drive?? (Not a huge issue given the rave reviews the engine gets from all and sundry) Never bought a new car, nor have i waited so eagerly in anticipation for a reveal so not sure what i can expect....... |

Discuss the Pros and Cons by all means but saying someone has no brains or are stupid because they do OR do not like it is not required. I did re word my other post a bit ...... Just be ADULTS about it is ALL I am trying to say!

Edit: Thought it worthwhile adding my views. I quite like what I see but I would still like to see one in the flesh. Probably won't change my mind too much though as I am contemplating getting an XR8 (auto) to replace the ST in the middle of next year, if there are any available at that time. The mechanicals alone is enough to sway me at this stage. Craig H
