Daihatsu Charade, 5 door, mid-80s. (Was talking to young bloke in tools shop and I had a look at his car when I went back outside; he has put a turbo on it but it looks stock)

Honda Prelude, 5th generation, deep red (metallic?), gold badges, being driven by southern European woman in her seventies, with similar-looking woman in passenger seat.
Falcon Futura ED, red; AU Fairmont, deep maroon metallic. (I had to check on the net exactly what model the Prelude and Futura were; I'm not fully up to speed on Falcon/Fairmont models from the AU on.) |

Today, as I rode my bicycle several ks there and back to supermarkets to see if either Coles or Safeway had my current favourite ice cream on special (after Safeway ditched their home brand $5 tubs a few months ago - it was very nice ice cream, my favourite flavours by then were vanilla, and salted caramel): red ED Falcon Futura parked out front of a house - seen before, don't know if it ever moves; silver Fairmont sedan (ED?); silver Fairmont wagon - not sure which model; white Falcon XT wagon - not sure of model but it had white/clear rear indicators. (Coles did have my current favourite name brand on special for $8)

Last week a friend told me he spotto'ed a dirty EA under a carport. Knocked on the door and bought it for $250. Was a manual too, reckons he just sold the box for $600. (FG running gear going in with a plan to drag it)

Cruising around town this morning and saw a white ef xr, didn't quite catch if it was the 6 or 8. Looked to be in very good condition.
Then, pulling into the local shopping centre car park behind me was a vk commodore. It was a two-tone jobbie with that nice metallic brown top over the grey below. Was on standard Vic plates, and only registered fairly recently as they were standard issue plates starting with a 1. Surprised to not see it on club plates so assume it might be driven regularly.

White Corolla hatch, 'CSi Limited' stickers, green/white VIC plates starting with an 'F' so it must be early 1990's; older bloke - original owner? (that could be me in a few more years in my i30 ... )

Last Monday I saw an ice blue T-18 in tidy, fairly original condition on Governor Macquarie Drive. It may have even still been fitted with the original four spoke wheels. A day later I saw what I think was an early nineties JDM Subaru Legacy, it had the full taillight panel and somehow didn’t look like a dressed up Liberty sedan.

This morning: Mazda 121 'bubble' car, blue, on club plates.
Yesterday I went to a house auction (as a spectator, see 'Australia housing bubble' thread) ... at that property there is a vehicle under a cover, in a carport ... I should have gone to the auction earlier so that I could go in and have a look at the car ... but from outside the property, the way the cover clings to the vehicle, it looks like it could be a HT ute; ... if that's under the carport I wonder what's in the garage behind? (should have had a look ........... ) |

Not that many were sold in the first place, but I spotted one of those hateful Chery J3's today. Considering these were dirt cheap when new and basically a throw away type of product, it was in surprisingly good condition.
Interesting how the Chery brand crashed and burned very quickly. I guess at the time, there were plenty of competitors for the J3. These days, most of those competitors are gone from the bottom of the market, allowing another horrible Chinese car popular, the MG 3.

You don't see these too often:
https://www.grays.com/lot/0001-20082...sedan?spr=true That spec, those miles... Let the games begin. TBH I'm more interested in what it fetches relative to former high prices paid, as a recession (or not) indicator. They've have become financial instruments and it's a pity, for those XW/XY models are just so beautiful as they float along chewing up highway miles with intent.

I'd still be ahead with a EcoLPI Falcon that makes like 95KW more power and more torque doing 13L/100km than my diesel Focus doing 5.7L/100km. Falcon is faster, more comfortable and fits more **** in it - no brainer really. I'm at TAFE with a bunch of 17 year old kids at the moment and they're asking me for advice for their first cars - eGas/EcoLPI Falcon utes you'd be mad not to around Melbourne where LPG is plentiful |
