In my opinion FGX is a nice car in its own right as is FG. Don't know why everyone has to insist their subjective view of each vehicle is the only possible correct view. Lots of very different and valid opinions on the vehicles, the great thing is each opinion is only correct to that person!

As I said in the Bathurst thread I think it looks really nice. Not so sure about the stripes though.

I didn't think there were any stripe packs? Or are you talking the hideous marketing stripes on the car at the mountain.

Yeah that's what I mean. To be honest I didn't even know about it until today when Frosty drove it (As I don't come here much anymore) so I don't really know anything about it at all. |

The success of cheaper Asian manufacturers can testify to that and the improved sales of the Euro’s support a change of focus for those willing to pay a bit more. Apart from their fantastic performance drivelines, Falcon for a long time has not offered great price versus appointments compared to other vehicles and sales reflect that. Not everyone is interested in the performance cars. Gizmos, like them or not do seem to sell. The new Falcons have improved greatly but the race was lost long ago. |

I like driving my cars, that's why mine is white, 6sp manual and arriving in February. And I'm not having a go at anyone else or the person who wrote the above, it was just that this quote covered most of the specs of modern cars these days. |

[QUOTE=LoudPipes;5233620][SIZE=3][FONT=Calibri]
......Gizmos, like them or not do seem to sell. That's exactly right. 6 years ago (and again 3 years ago) we had a car policy where we could choose between a gas G6 or a diesel Mondeo titanium. I chose the LPi G6, and was one of very few. Dozens chose the Mondeo - the 3 things they cited were the leather, sunroof and adaptive cruise. None of that interested me enough to buy a front-drive euro import, but I'm a minority. I'm liking the FG-X. After doing 3 years in a VE V6, and 3 years in an FG LPi 4L, I'm confident in saying I'm in a position to compare them pretty well. Both have certain things that are better than the other, but for the limited resources Ford had with the FG program, they did a damn good job. I'm seeing the same again with the FG-X being compared to the VF. Value for money, Ford's investment has created much better bang for buck. If only they'd added adaptive cruise to FG2 - there's 2 people I know, owners on numerous Falcons over the years, who bought mondeos over Falcons purely for that feature. It's too late to save Ford Australia, but a bit of foresight & listening to the market could have helped. The lack of changes from FG to FG-X may well be a contentious issue, but the basic structure of the car (driveline, suspension, etc) is well proven, and still up to today's standards in that market segment anyway. I'd have a hard time saying no to an FG-X G6E over a VF Calais (6 vs 6), and the XR8 is a clear standout. If I didn't do 40,000km a year I'd certainly consider an XR8, but I'll have to stick with LPi.... I think Ford Australia have done a remarkable job considering the restraints they had to work within ($$, global design etc). |

Looks like HSV have upped the KW and prices of the 2015 range of R8/Clubsports.......
The XR8 looks like even more of a steal now......54k RRP for 335kw (or more) XR8 vs 64k RRP for a 325KW Clubbie/ 76k RRP for a 340kw R8 - (all autos) What a bargain! If powers your thing you can't go wrong. If its the plush toys in the cabin (and i must admit, i do like them) then you need to have a good look at what thats worth to you in $$$ terms. IMHO. 2015 HSV GEN-F pricing (excludes on-road costs) ClubSport manual $61,990 ($1000 increase) ClubSport auto $64,490 ($1300 increase) ClubSport R8 manual $73,290 ($2000 increase) ClubSport R8 auto $75,790 ($2300 increase) ClubSport R8 Tourer auto $76,490 ($2000 increase) |

The problem is 90% of all discussion has been about the XR8, and that's ok because it's the hero car. The facts are however it will be built in limited numbers, and there's been pretty limited discussion about any other models in the range.
Just on the interior, I accept that Ford didn't have the funds to overhaul the interior, but it's amazing what a couple of different colours here and trinket pieces there could've done for the interior.. Pity really. Hope it sells like hot cakes! |

To the President of Ford Australia Mr Bob Graziano, and the people from Ford who read this forum. Two things happened yesterday that will stick in my mind forever.
1. @ 5 minutes from the end of the Bathurst telecast there is a scene in slowmo showing a young boy, 6-8 years old, waving a Ford flag with a huge smile on his face, and like a big girl I cried. 2. While I was crying my 4 year old came up to me and asked "why are you crying daddy" and I told him what that image meant to me. He looked at me and said "I love Fords if you do daddy" and gave me a cuddle. That's what its about! they are your next buyers. you don't get that watching tennis or AFL, so when your making up your minds on weather or not to sponsor the race teams go and have a look at that little boy, because he was me 45 years ago. I buy Fords and always will.

This is something I don't think Ford Australia can get their heads around. A few of us are trying to organize a FPV day to mark the end of an Era. Sadly Ford just don't want anything to do with it. I don't think they understand. Yesterday's and today's FPV and XR 6 & 8 buyers are tomorrows Mustang Buyers and their kids will be the buyers of what ever follows that. We have a generation of young fans lost to the dark side. Please Bob and Ford give them a reason to come back |

It is the return of the XR8 that is big news, and when it is that much cheaper than the RSPEC, it will be popular.

My pick will be kinetic or white. I like kinetic but I think white will suite the car better Still need to see 1 in white before I make up my mind |

Thanks for the pick, being a huge long time v8 fpr fan I need to express that the new white circle sponsership on the front is terrible and I want to ear bash the idiot that agreed to it.... can't be the same that signed pepsi max!
