Must admit I thought the BA/FG bulges were a bit over the top especially the side view (I have driven these cars so I know what they are like from the drivers seat), but certainly do accept them on the V8's, as they do serve a purpose. But not when fitted on 6 cylinder Falcons; fake to me.

But I think the FGX XR8 bonnet profile is more cohesive with the overall design of the totally new front. Just that it is not as noticeable as the old bulge to the uneducated.

I really feel like that tan leather just doesn't gel with the rest of the inside. Would've liked to have seen lighter non grey materials used for the rest.

Seeing that G6E last Friday, I was even less convinced. Not a great colour.

The standard XR cloth seats look much better than before, a little extra stitching goes a long way.

Me and my Dad are trying to change my mums mind (grew up in a holden family) to get rid of her Mazda 6 and get one of these (preferably an XR6) honestly I saw one in the flesh today it was the XR6 LPI version and it looked mint I got to sit in it and everything so much better than the Mazda a lot more roomier too which is the main reason to get one, Those Japanese 'big' sedans are so damm small in the back. I really hope we can get one ill keep you guys updated

Piano black inserts aka 50th anniversary could've done so much to freshen up the dash at little cost maybe some see it as tacky, but you don't need to do a whole lot to freshen up the appearance of the dash.

Piano black would not happen due to XR8 already getting other rspec bits in my opinion. It would make it too similar.

Interior is a let down, very bland, especially the G6E. It is meant to be the prestigious model. That steering wheel looks horrid, at least could have used the 2014/15 Mondeo one.
Does not reflect the exterior at all.

Was a real shame they got rid of the "chunky" steering wheel from FG-onwards.

Even the BA XR cloth pattern looks better than above, but I would have preferred to have seen the G6 interior in "Falcon" instead of the XT-inspired one.

Ford still seems to have this idea that the base model should look like it's made out of bin plastic. The game has moved on, even Holden now understands that a horrific looking base model cheapens the image of the rest of the range. Compare the "Falcon" interior to that of an Evoke Commodore, pretty embarrassing.

They'll probably sell less base models than XR8s so I dont see it being that big of a deal.

Yeah the VF range really is spectacular. That pic above also, I think, highlights the difference that:
  1. decent contrast in your photos (the darker, warmer blacks in the Holden photo adds to the ambient appeal of that photo, make the chrome-ish highlights pop and adds softness to the otherwise harsh black plastics) and;
  2. a decent steering wheel makes. Such a tiny thing that barely has any real impact on a purchasing decision (in the grand scheme of things), but when compared like that... :/

Over at the justcommodores forum and the LS forums, there is a begrudging acceptance that the new XR8 is the new hot thing, but nearly every compliment is followed by a backhanded 'but I wouldn't want to sit in that every day'-style comment, lol.

That photo reminds me how much I actually dislike the VF interior and how good the fg one is.

Quick note on the VF wheel- while it may be prettier, the controls (radio, cruise) are still executed better on the FG wheel. Cruise control in particular is wonderfully simple on the FG, you can turn it on/set it in a fraction of a second (literally) whereas you need to push down a button on the face of the VF wheel before you can do anything (as opposed to FG's on/off button being behind the wheel at your fingertips). The FG buttons are also larger & easier to use with minimal distraction.

Would date a VF wheel, would marry an FG wheel

Yes, good point on the CC. I test drove a VF last year and remarked at the time that I thought the CC wasn't as well implemented as even in my BFII. Generally speaking, I don't have a problem with the FG interior, and so am keen to have a go in the FGX and play with SYNC2 (I love playing/designing tech in all aspects of everything!)

The Commodore interior looks more modern but it doesn't look good especially around the centre controls. Looks like its got an instagram filter over it too. The Falcon is older but still reasonable and its simple.

The base model falcon reminds me of a taxi. Maybe Ford plan to sell this model to the taxi market

Please Ford, give us an XR8 Sprint to finish the Falcon off. Upgraded suspension, upgraded brakes, small engine tweak...not asking too much

The new FG X XR8 is the sprint. R Spec suspension, wider rims brembo front brakes. what else could one want more with a drive away price less than 60K.
