I ordered mine and paid the deposit today.
Manual, Kinetic and February 2015 delivery.

The dealer i bought it through has already sold their 5 allocations for the year and I'm their first order. No advertising or any sales other than people walking in and putting their money down.

This "1200" number is being touted around and if the numbers are limited as indicated I dare say the earlier you order the better.

Looking at the dealer guide there are no factory options on the car as leather, LSD, matching alloy spare are all standard with SYNC2, reverse camera, voice activated satnav, dual-zone, mats, R-spec suspension, Brembo's and the 335 motor. The XR8 also has premium, bolstered leather seats.

I ordered for february 2015 to score the 2015 build plate, and some more time to iron out any bugs or build issues.

Having sealed the deal for one in the mid 50's I doubt I'll ever see such a performance or drivers car in this price bracket again.

Roll on February 2015.

I ordered yesterday at Macarthur Ford. They only had a black auto left from first allocation. Males in their 50s seem to be the right customers for the XR8. 2015 will be a very good year for Ford Australia.

Lol, I'd say that's true in many cases......"Males in their 50s" we are probably the only ones left that can afford them.........Males in their 40s have already pulled the trigger on GTFs with some of them still stuck trying to flip them for over a 100k.

I turn 40 next year so an Xr8 is an early birthday present to
Myself. I never was in the hunt for a GTF at those prices. I thought 50yo's has more money than those in their 40s, gonna have to rethink my retirement plans. Or do 50yo have more wisdom to wait for a 52k r-spec over a 100k GT?

No disrespect to those that bought the GTF. Future prices may just show you're the smartest of them all.

Yeah for me anyway they are different cars with different buyers.........in saying that though I think the FGX XR8 has caught many punters by surprise having such a comprehensive spec sheet which has annoyed some of the 335 faithful. For me because of brand loyalty, it was always more important to buy one of the last Australian built Falcons rather than a GT, pulling the trigger twice on a depreciating asset was never part of the plan.

Cheers Mick

I think the annoyance will only be for those who never had any intention to hold on to their GTF, and only purchased it to make a quick buck. Serve themselves right. Hope they get stuck with them and have to eventually sell at a sensible price, like in the high 70's for essentially a second hand car.

The genuine GTF owner will know what they have, and these XR8's will not make any difference to how they feel about their purchase.

FG Mk1 XR8 had it. I did the assessment from a manufacturing perspective to make sure we were ok to delete it (some of the sticking points being exactly what you detailed: paint quality on the hood inner)

You can tell we had it because the holes for the fir trees are there.

There are no holes for a deadener pad on the FGX V8 hood.

Yeah definitely different levels of passion for the brand..............it would be amusing if the master plan for some of the flippers was always to I onsell the GTF for a big profit and then use the funds to get into the new XR8 for near on free! Might be a big fail with that one.

In my opinion the fact it appeared after the XR50 and FG2 LE and neither of those had a V8 is precisely the reason they'd opt for something different for any LE FGX XR8.

I honestly think they would steer away from making it too similar to the other LE V8's especially the RSpec.

Having said that there are limited options for the colours that actually work for that console so who knows.

I posted a few pictures on facebook of the new XR8 and got a mixed response from my mates (Holden guys anyway) I guess it's you eat her love it or hate it. I quite like it but there are a few angles it dose look average from. I love the rear end especially the tail lights (they could be a little thicker though. I have never likedthe rear end on my FG F6 mostly due to the tail lights. Can't wait for mine to arrive.

Do your Holden mates like the look of the tail lights? I hope so, cos it's all they'll ever see of it

The FG's steering is noticeably heavier in all situations (which I like) but doesn't feel as sharp as the VF, almost as if the VF has a faster rack. You get more feedback through the FG wheel, but not all of it is good, you tend to get a loose rattly feeling over the rough stuff. For enthusiastic driving I still prefer the feel of FG setup, but prefer the VF for sharpness. Overall I consider them fairly equal, the VF is nicer to live with in most situations but the FG has better weight and feel for those times when you really want it. Most reviews actually preferred the VF steering but if you enjoy driving the car (ie steering it, none of this point and shoot nonsense) then you'll be glad Ford kept the existing FG setup. IMO anyway.

Agree, comparisons to Korean cars is no longer a negative thing, they're setting the benchmark these days!

Also on the interior topic, the usual front-on comparison photos that we tend to see really don't show much. It's only when you look at them from another angle, you see how nice the VF interior angles and flows. I love the FG interior, but some of the comments about it being better than the VF interior are a little out there. This particular angle really shows off the angles inside the cabins like a front-on shot cannot.

Some thing I have always hated in holdens is the big knobs that they put on everything.

Normally it's the one in the drivers seat that's the most annoying.

For pure sound and performance can't go past KPM Streetfighter full system. Quite dear though even when fitted yourself 3k+
