Where's all the extra weight coming from in the new Ranger? Especially with the cab chassis models, they're around 100kg heavier than PX.

Standard auto transmission would be a factor also.

Strange that the Ranger has put on a lot more weight |

From the specs I've seen, a 4x4 XLT dual cab is similar in weight between PXII and the new RA. |

To be fair to the Yanks, they've shed a lot of weight from their trucks in recent years with extensive use of aluminium.

My G6E EcoLpi towed better than my Everest. Less torque but over 700kgs lighter too. I miss that car. Sent from my Pixel 5 using Tapatalk

We must have different criteria. I swapped my fg xr6 for my territory for towing and never looked back. Much better, and that's only towing 1.5t. I'm sure Everest would tow better than territory.

Yeah the F150 isn't any heavier than the Ranger.

I am a big fan of the new Ranger. It was top of its class at the end of PX series and it is now leaps ahead of everybody else. Australian designed and Engineered Carry's some weight too.

Anyway, I'm sure the 3.0 in the new ranger will please many people who plan to tow with it. Most people who tow don't measure their happiness by how fast they get there either.

Wakefield is near Goulburn so it would've been Hume Hwy Syd to Goulburn.

Quite a few very steep hills in parts. Wouldn’t expect many cars to maintain speed up them while towing.

Any chance Ford Aust. could rip the Escape R&D work out of Ford Europe's hand...they don't deserve it...or EVEN BETTER yet.....can the team doing the RHD conversions of F-150 be "financed" for a Lincoln or two.....I'd even settle for an Expedition...back on topic...any owners of the new V6 care to give a brief road report....

Falcon tray weight was about the same as the Ranger. Heck, they even had a 1 tonne version back in the day.

It was just effortless. The Everest/Ranger always felt like it was straining on anything but a flat piece of road. Engine used to make a lot of noise for not much movement. I hated towing with it which is why I moved it on. Should never have let the Falcon go. But there might still be hope with the Raptor. Next I need to understand if putting airbags on a Raptor will stuff the your beaut suspension they have in place. At least on paper, that looks to have some decent performance available. Else, we wait for the F150 in the hope it is better. I guess I lament a time when our Utes towed and had the up and go needed to have fun as well.

For a Truck that is significantly bigger than the Ranger and far more capable, the weight penalty is about 200 kgs on many models. Thats pretty impressive.

Then go buy a used falcon.
Fact is, a ranger or Everest are big heavy 4wds with diesel motors. They are never going to be as fast a falcon. If you expect that, you’re expecting too much. What you trade for performance, is gained elsewhere in practicality and off road ability.

I'll just wait till someone releases something that fits the bill for what I want like the F150 promises. Or Rivian. 0-100 in 3 seconds and can tow more than the Ranger (probably not for the same distance but it would work a treat for what I'd use it for!). Till then, we wait. The Patrol is bigger than the Everest and does a great 7.5 second drive. Its a great car let down by aging tech. New one is rumoured soon so lets see what it brings. Or even the Land Rover Disco which is 6.8 to 100 with a Diesel and about the same weight as an Everest. I don't buy second hand cars. Its just something I don't do.

Yes, I've been looking at them. I just honestly wanted a Ford cause I'm a Ford guy at heart. Which is why I'm waiting for the F150 else I'd have bought the Discovery Even (6.8 0-100 from a diesel, very nice drive to be fair to it).

Drove my mates 1500 laramie with a 2700 Van and was very impressed. we went off road with it too all on standard tyres.
Its stacked with Luxuries and infotainment & has a feature called Etorque which kypez should like it is a very big thing though but well suited to the NT where my mate lives.
