Went into two dealerships today. One had an XR8 which looked very nice. They really do look better in the flesh. Although white really doesn't highlight what it needs to. The new leather is quite nice.

As for the other one, they had an XR6. I expressed my interest and they had no idea on pricing (or anything about the car for that matter) as apparently Ford have been dumping an FGX at most dealerships for show. This particular dealership received theirs yesterday. They eventually said a price and offered it for $34k-$35k and a rough $17k trade in on my MkII XR6 (Based just upon year and kilometres). I'm very tempted, however I don't think the finances would allow it until next year unless I can't help myself! That seems like a pretty fantastic deal to me.

I went past Adrian brian ford on south rd Adelaide to see if they had any to look at . no such luck but what I did see and I suppose its a sign of the times they have moved their Chrysler, dodge, jeep dealership into the larger more prominent corner building and moved ford into the smaller less prominent one . so sad to see they used to be large & have fpv

Ford didn't like me parking a Holden in their new car section, but I needed the shot FGX is really quite good looking in person, doesn't photograph well though.

The bottom grille looks like half an echo of the top grille (what? U couldnt think of what to put there so u cut and paste the top 1?!) personally, i expected them to do something special with their last dance..
The more i look the happier i am with my mk2

(Though I do like the look of the new seats)

I can't wait too see some of the first modified FGX cars dumped with nicer rims on them, I'm going to be so jealous!!

It's pretty amusing though, considering the XR8 next year will be reborn with the same spec engine as the FG GT, could you imagine being a HSV owner forking out all that money on a brand new GTS, then pulling up to the lights next to a FH XR8 and then sitting side by side all the way to 100 and beyond
Even more embarrasing would be the lower spec variants of the VF in HSV's stable getting whopped by a factory XR8.

Saw my first FGX today in the dealership (XR6 in Kinetic)

Absolutely vindicates what all the Ford boys (on the floor) have said all along, you know who you are.

Look at this thing in the flesh before judging....it is bloody awesome. No photo or image does it justice. In my opinion, it just makes the Holden and many other cars just look ordinary....they've done a bloody good job.

Had a good look at a blue XR6 turbo at my local dealer this evening. My 2 cents -

The wipers are great, what are they?
The grey mirrors don't do it for me
The grey accents at the front look great
The rear diffuser should have been painted grey
The dark headlining is better than the light
The black steering wheel controls are yuck compared to silver.

All in all a very nice car but I wasnt excited to hand my money over and drove home happy with my current. I look forward to seeing the G6ET in the flesh.

That's the Calais... SS. In all honesty it's the best looking of the bunch by far, HSV included.
The rest of the VF-F series range looks pretty much like a Korean BBQ. I don't mind the styling of cars out of Korea per say but they're certainly not tough looking. There more 'hairdresser chic' if you know what I mean.

The level of detail on the VF where the guards meet the bonnet makes a world of difference. Unfortunately the simple, flat edge in this region of the FGX leaves it lacking in the style department, making it look almost 90s

Upon closer inspection, i have found an angle from which i think they look awesome, front dead centre at badge height, looks proper angry, the only problems with that are, im 6'1 and not gunna see them from that angle too often and it only seems to work on that djr xr8..
Ps. Note the dark part of the reflection in the middle of the bulge, pity thats not actually a vent cos that'd be sweet

A lot of people will see that awesome anger at the right angle in their rear view mirror, especially with those led driving lights on. Probably wont see it for long though, but then they will get to hear the crackle from those shiny quad pipes.

Looking at these 2 cars, it is mixed, but both have strong and weak points. But, the Holden firstly had tinted windows, the Ford did not- makes a difference first up.

Strong Visual Points Holden

# The Front wheel arches are flared out and tapered nicely into bonnet, Ford is a bit flat with flare.
# The Holden as 4 more pronounced sweeping bonnet curves, the Ford as 3 less pronounced bonnet curves that makes bonnet look flat.

Strong Points Visual Ford

#Lights-Ford much sleeker and modern, Holden looking dated.
#Driving light cluster-Ford is clean and non cluttered, Holden looks Jap chintzy
#Front radiator and sub radiator- Ford is modern and smooth refined aggression, Holden looks unrefined and bit back yard

I think a better test would be to stick an XR8 with tinted windows next to the SS, I think the XR8 would be the better looker given its bonnet bulge

Aren't the wipers just the standard aero wipers most makes have been using for the last 5-10 years?

the front is spot on, im not sure how the VF in the previous pics looks better? The VF looks more at home in the first couple fast'n'furious movies

The rear of the falcon is really wrong imo. Something about that chrome trim joining the tailights together might be the culprit. Colour coding it improves things, but then starts to look like the old mondeo's. Not fixable i think.

I think the XR8 could do with a front lip spoiler and bulkier side skirts, this would have been something FPV most likely would have done if they were still around.

I agree theres something not quite right about the back, the location and size of the tail lights makes it look too tall and thin, the f series really failed for me in that area, the b series were sexy rear ends

The picture/angle of the xr8 that convinced me to rush out and put my money down is funnily enough the one BOSS4ltr has as his avatar pick which I saw on the fb page. Great picture IMO.

I think under load rather than sat in a showroom is its best look. That and it seems to be cornering, fully loaded so there is zero gap between arch and wheel. So much more agressive!

I agree, it is because all the cars have the same front bumpers whereas the XR's before it had their own unique front bar.
