I bought a Peugeot 406 several years ago with the same running gear as your 306. Milkshaked trans, bloody near impossible to find a replacement because its such a common issue apparently. Had to by a complete un road worthy neglected car for a good trans and part the rest out.

My f truck had a little mischief catching the engine bay on fire, Shannon’s was great and I will soon return it to the road with a Holley sniper fuel injection set up! Probably been a couple more paddock bombs for the kiddos, I know there’s a Corolla there somewhere plus a few more motor bikes!

All were new apart from the VH.Quality wise when it came to fit,finish and minimal mechanical issues the AU came out on top.I would have given it 5 stars apart from a piece of hair that was in the paint on the r/h guard.I picked up on it in the garage when i brought it home and had seen it under the fluro lights.It must have been a Friday afternoon car for quality control to miss it.The worst would have been the VT SS.It had paint runs,a flaw in the windscreen with a depression and blurred view on the pax side.Harmonic balancer replaced due to idle vibration.Steering rack replacement all within a few months of buying it.Suprisingly being the 5.7 it did not use any oil but did have an uneven idle.

Yes, you're quite correct Mick, it was the slant4 not the Brabham.
I picked it up in 98 for $500 from a local Farmer and had no idea what it was. Only had sub 20k k's or miles on it and in mint nick for a 24yo barn find.
I swapped it for a red 202 and auto and the guy who took it said it was a Brabham.
This was pre (for me) internet so had no ability to research it and took his word and moved on.
