Hulk BA,
A change of exhaust can reduce weight, its not always about power.

I had stock as a rock with a bit of get up and go, and it was fun, made a few people go "O RLY??" at the traffic lights but I wanted something that looked more interesting and had the bling.
So I bought a V8 and did it up a little, and all it got me was the "wrong" sort of attention, so I compromised. Now if I want to be noticed AND go fast, I drive the F6, if I want to fly below the radar, I drive the Excel |

For me the go needs to have the show as well......what I mean by this is that I will always prefer to spend my money on making the car perform better.....but the performance bits need to be "showy"
So Brembos all round....they are the best in the business but they also look the best......the zorst is fully polished stainless ...instead of just rusty mild steel...the tyres I choose need to be the best I can afford but I also like them to have a nice looking tread pattern. It's function meeting form....there needs to be a balance for me. No use having a fast car if it looks like a load of smashed crabs

I'm not really about either. I spend money on my car where i want to, on things i like. I dont like chrome. I dont like 20" rims. I dont like coilovers on cars that are simply dumped and cant fit a decent shock. I dont like cars with money only spent on the engine/driveline.

I have btw seen, on frankston/dandy rd, one black, non-stock 300c with rego 'gangsta'. Massive headshaking from me wondering how, 1, rego was allowed going on how some combos get denied, 2, wouldnt be cop-bait.
Still, sounded nice tho Cheers Rij |

I would prefer a sleeper over a ricer any day. Better carrying a loaded basic pistol than an unloaded shiny silver rifle

Sorry, forgot my vote for the 'q-car' Power in disguise wins everytime.
For the 'q-car' bit, ww2 armed freighters that surprised many an enemy warship were called 'q-ships. Cheers Rij |

I have used mine as a daily for a while now and it has been great. With the nanny state's grip ever tightening on the roads, it's almost useless having a heaps fast car. Sure I would love a 10 second beast if I could use it semi-regularly at a track. But there is no where to drive fast unless you live in a Capital city. To me it's a waste of money modding a car to make it a beast, if it will be only used to it's full potential once or twice a year. In theory power over looks In reality looks over power |

If we are talking about daily's, then I don't really care about what my car looks like from the outside - as long as its clean and is slightly unique that makes people think twice when you look at it. An example would be a ghia with a V8 rumble or a stealthy intercooler with wheels that are different but not obvious, massive after market wheels. I love sleepers but sometimes you can go to far.
My pick would be a V8 BFII Ghia with some under-bonnet goodies, but with maybe LPG so that you can afford to run it as a daily. |

Besides being to young to get a car with HP. . . I go bling for falcon anyway more of crusey car std GTP/F6 nice amount power, Its funny there are a few here who are talking big HP when they haven't been in car over 280+rwkw. If I was wanting power I would be getting something else. 2JZ-GTE .
Just my opinion. |

I want the car to look good but not 'out there', supported by a decent amount of power. That is why i have a bling spec optioned fg xr6t, without the leather (seriously how can you guys like sitting on that stuff... Hot in summer cold in winter) id love to have the 8" touchscreen retrofitted but apparently its not possible.

Where on the street can you use 600rwhp? For how long? You open the taps and your in license busting territory in 2 seconds.... If it's a track car fine but why build it if you can't use it?
Give me max 200hp in a light car (hottish hatch) spend $$ on brakes, springs etc so you fling it up your favourite piece of road and ring it out to the redline without endangering yourself with jail time.... Case in point: my Fez is underpowered sure, but on bells line or wisemans ferry runs (nsw) it's awesome, just wish for some huge stoppers as fade is a major problem: I can ring it out to redline in a few gears without having to go insane, job losing speeds... But, like I said, that's for an allrounder daily, track cars are different. And bling is all about over compensating for something.... Bodykits and chromies and doof doof subs add weight and make people laugh at you.... |

I'll also point out that in Tassie, a P plater can own any car they like, there are no vehicle restrictions. I realise the we make up a very small percentage of Australian drivers. It near as makes no difference though, young drivers have limited income, their cars and choice of mods indicate this. Once again, there are exceptions. As for myself, I don't like overdoing things on the visual front, unless it has a practical use. I enjoy having a nice looking car, but I won't venture too far from the norm. Power is definitely more appealing to me.

I believe I have struck a reasonable compromise between horsepower, bling and function.
Ample horsepower and function. A little bling.
