Along under the Story bridge the water is up into the park and lapping around the old dry dock which is a good 4 or 5 metres from usual levels near the ferry dock , with the water coming down and the kings due Wednesday and Thursday it's going to be a major problem although atm it's all guesses as to the real flood height , the 74 was dirty filthy clean up going on for days and this one wont be any better imho
Happily we are nice and high but of course heaps of water running across the sodden dirt
I suggest anyone in doubt pack and move now as when it rises it rises terrbily fast > remember 1974 folks

Im hoping that some of our work gets sent up to help Energex out getting eveything back up and running again. Hoping more if it does happen that I can be on one of the crews.
At least would be doing some thing to help.

There was an update on the QPS page (facebook) advising that Energex will only be cutting power if it is ABSOLUTELY necessary, ie if it's inundated with water and only while it's flooding.

Waiting for the water to keep rising at Ipswich, rain seems to have eased off a fair bit and all bom websites indicate it's eased off too...

Exclamation 4yo Boy drowned in rescue attempt.

Words cannot describe what the family of the poor little bloke who was lost out of a rescue boat at Marburg must be going through.

Being a parent now, my own daughters little face flashed before my eyes when I heard this just now. Apparently the family was being rescued and he was lost overboard, his little body found some time after.

Thoughts with the family in such a tragic time.

RIP little bloke.

Thats so very sad, so many young lives lost already.

Keep safe guys, take no risks, just get your familiy and leave if advised.

From someone in a bushfire area i know how hard it hits the community when a family is lost.

I have a 3 year old son and I live close to Marburg, this brought tears to my eyes. I cannot bear to think about what his Mum is feeling right now. My heart goes out to that little boys family.

my parents lost their home today in the floods. i was able to get my family out with only minutes to spare. thankfully the community jumped in risking their lives to help save some of our stuff, one is even a forum member. i cant thank the people enough for what they did.

im not in tootoomba, im in morayfield a mere 40k's north of brisbane CBD, it took less then a hour for the water to go from normal flow to complete flood. and as typical as it is we were the only house in the street effected apart from some wet carper under the door across the street.

the water ended up over the wing on the laser. i have photos but are low light and ill get more tomorrow during the clean up. 10 inches of water through the house, the whole town was under water, the next door neighbors got air lifted out by helicopter, i plowed the LTD through the water to get out. only just made it too. but thankfully we are all ok. i hope no one else had as bad luck as we did today

we did get the emergency sms which i got leaving my driveway to make the 500m drive to my parents where i found the water already over the foot parth... they need more warning on things like this, perhaps a sms stating this might happen, please be prepared to leave on short notice

Same. I have a 5yr old daughter and 2yr old son, it does bring a tear when you imagine your child in their position.

That's bad news huggiebear, sorry to hear about your parents home. At least both your families are ok.
For those affected like huggiebear, it must be a real sinking feeling to go back in and find everything you have lost.

My prayers go out to everyone affected.
Growing up in the Philippines, where it floods almost every time it pours (and is therefore "just another thing"), I know exactly what QLDers are going through and I'm always saddened to hear when lives are lost.
