The main change I want to see is the abolition of Luxury Car Tax,
Replace it with a two step GST, 0-$80k 10% and then 25% thereafter.
I think that would be a lot fairer and encourage more sales and actually
increase tax income.

Speed limits on freeways to be lifted.

Tullamarine Freeway should have variable speed limits, at the moment its 80km/h even though its 6 lanes wide in either direction and in mint condition.

Should be variable - up to 150km/h, I think if its 2AM and its you and a couple taxis on the freeway then the higher speed limit is easily achievable.

Calder Freeway to go to up from 110km/h to 150km/h - its divided dual lane freeway all the way from Melbourne to Bendigo.

150kmh on the Hume goat track would end in carnage, most don't know how to drive at 110kmh and stay in the lanes.

While the basic Ford Six was code named Barra, the Turbo version clearly deserved its very own moniker – again enter Gordon Barfield.
We asked him if the engine had actually been called “Seagull” and how that came about.
“Actually it was just call “Gull”, because I named it that. Because we knew it was going to poo on everything”.

I don't know about 'legendary' and never drove a Grey Ghost, but if you're old enough to remember Wards Express (Batmobile, The Overnighters) or Mick Travelos as well as couple of private subbies.

Edit, but we're getting off topic...sorry.

Yes remember watching them go pass as a kid living just off Pennant Hills Rd.

But getting back to Franco's speed limits, the older highways are far from being safe at 150kmh, they simply duplicated the road similar to what was already there so there's plenty of sunken, sharp, twists and bends sections.

Sorry I,m off topic!

There was one of those 8 wheelers running round for Gold Coast Transport delivering grog to bottle shops up till about 18 months ago.
You could hear it coming 2 kilometres away.

I’d like to see utes rated for three additional capabilities:
  • Dog-friendliness
  • Ability to store and carry bakery items without damage
  • Gender attractability

You could do it with M1, M2, M3, M11, M79 and M80 freeways - at least variable speed limits.

The double post thing is getting annoying but its seems its due to the posting delay. just have to be patient and not hit the submit button again, thinking it didn't submit the first time.

Superslab to Central Coast / Newcastle is a nightmare of rollercoaster riding and variable speed limits, its an ice rink when the rain comes down, well known for its pile ups.
Jolls bridge around the Hawkesbury is a dousy in the wet.

It would be nice to see easy to understand weigh limits on cars/4x4s, caravans and trailers, presented in a table or graph. For example if you are towing 3T how much can the tow vehicle weigh? Even if it was just in the owners manual, it would clear up a lot of weight questions.

Also, as-delivered tare weight on any load carrying vehicle, caravan or trailer with weigh bridge ticket supplied with 24hrs or taking delivery.

I know we're not the biggest fans of John Cadogan here but he raises an interesting point.

Given every man and their dog has a Thailand Special now, is it time to change ADR/Australian Standards around caravans to force manufacturers to move to 5th wheeler type caravans which are inherently safer by design than pig type trailers?

IE - van over 2000kg then it must be 5th wheeler type.
