Well I came to Oz not all that long ago needing to buy a car within 24 hrs of landing in sydney. Knew a lot about cars, and had 2 basic rules to a reliable cheap hack - it musn't be a ford or holden! Jap woudl be the way, e.g. a corrola. Further more, it wanted to be manual, and not white (for her). However, coming from the land of fwd (boring) my heart was saying preferably rwd with big power. What did I get? White EB auto wagon! But at the end of the day, it was the best I could find on the day, and now she's grown on me. I love the brawny rwd "big aussie missile" nature of the thing. Yes as I expected the build quality is carp compared to my Scooby, and it is so old fashionned it's not funny, but I love it to death. So I ended up keeping it (she drives the scooby), and now it has new wheels, is getting gas shortly, and then all new suspenders. :o) Got to love character. But hell she needs a manual to use that grunt!

Got an EBII. I love it, but if I had a bigger budget, it would either be an XR6T, 300ZX TT, or an EL Mont Ghia and I'd put a turbo in it.
In other words, I want boost! They'd have to be manuals too.

I've always wanted an EL Fairmont Ghia, but for the time being I have an ED GLi. It's all good though, because I love driving the ED anyway. I'll get my EL Ghia in the future.

ive had my EA wagon for ten years today, it has been a great car once i ironed out all the bugs. probably the only reason why i have had it so long is because it was manual and the interior is in great condition and the fact it took me 9 months to find it in the first place, it will be 17 years old in november.
starting to look for a BF XLS or XR6 cab chasis ute in manual before the rego run out on the EA, boy are they hard to come by

XW or XY GT
Simply loved that era of cars and racing even though it was before my time! Nearly bought a genuine XW GT in the late 90's for about $14 grand - kicking myself now! Just realised this is my Dick Johnson post!! Number 17 |

Always wanted an E series. I've owned 4 now.
It was always headed to my EL XR8 the best looking E series. I got a EF Gli, then had an EF XR6 then got a EL Fairmont Ghia V8 then finally I found my EL XR8. At one stage I owned both XRs and the Fairmont Ghia. Don't really look at other cars cause the E series is where it starts and stops with me. No better Ford than an EL XR8.
