Mate congrats on the purchase....

HSV is constantly raising the bar, we the consumers should be happy because it forces Ford into the fight.
If more and more people did that maybe Ford might one day come to the fight with a gun and not a knife...

You notice how most of the people having a go are people that haven't been/won't be in this situation of buying a brand new $70,000+ sports car. Its easy to sit back and say your a traitor when your driving around in your e-series/AU that you could pick up for under 5 grand but when there is real money on the line its a different story.

I'm personally not in the market for a brand new car but one around 4 years old. Still significant money and I don't know if I could spend the extra money it would cost to get me into a GT around $40,000 over a GTS for $33-35,000.

So don't bag the bloke out, wait and see till its your money on the line and come back and talk.

That's right, difections are occurring from both camps.

Unfortunately I expect ridicule and personal attacks from the other forum, but it really dissappoints me that we appear to have some of the same narrow minded, immature and closed shop mentalities on this forum as well.

That silver GTS is a lovely piece of kit, I am genuinely envious of BloHSV's purchase and thank him for posting.

I hope he keeps posting because I want to learn more from his experiences with his new GTS.

To those that have bagged him, why don't you far cough to the other forum, you bitter and twisted indiviuals.

nice ride there! Not a fan of the VE base models, but the HSV's are something else!

Nice ride BLOHSV. Im not a fan of its looks, but thats my opinion.

People are right, you buy the best available vehicle for the money you have, whether its a ford, holden, vw in my case, or whatever. Its freedom of choice, and we are lucky to be presented with these choices.

Most of the people on here rubbishing you have probly never driven a high performance ford, let alone a holden and if they drove a car like a gts im sure there opinions would change fairly quickly, jealousy is sad trait of people who usually own S#%T boxes.

Look if he had come back and said "I was going to buy a FPV GT but I bought a Toyota Aurion instead" everyone would have the god given right to call him every name under the sun, but he opted for a large Aussie RWD V8 instead of a large Aussie RWD V8........you see what I am getting at??

I think the Holden vs Ford thing has died down to a friendly pub conversation with the real battle being Domestic vs Import which we should all be proud of as it looks like the Aussies are grinding the Japs into dust at the moment.

As much as I love the sound and look of the FPV GT I can't help but feel that the BOSS290 is a V8 with the size and weight of a big block with the performance of a small block though it must be noted that the Modular V8 came out in the early 90's while the current LS2 is only a few years old and the Modular V8 has been on the Wards list a number of times.

I also think it is important that while many here (myself included) would purchase a FPV without a second thought the real market for FPV and HSV (apart from cashed up tradies) are those who would usually be shopping for BMW's and Mercs.

Personally I wouldn't buy a new car at all or even buy a XR8 over a GT as in my head I would think hmmmmmmm second hand XR6T and XR8 or brand new GT???

But seriously I have been on a few forums and talked to a few Holden fans and many have or are considering jumping to Ford for the XR6T.

Serious question though for BLOHSV: did you test drive the Tyhoon as well?

Test drove one of these earlier in the year. I was surprised that I really liked the car. I don't think I would buy one, but if I was rich enough to absorb the depreciation, then yes I definitely would consider one.

Congrats on the new car, it looks great and I'm sure you are going to be happy with it.

Just disregard the idiot factor here and keep us informed how it is going. ps there's plenty of good gear on the LS1 forums to make it boogie

Congrats on the new HSV. The HSV wins hands down over the GT/GTP.

My father is the process of buying one next year(waiting for the Orion to see what FPV can come up with). He has been a ford man all his life like myself, but once he took back to back test drives between the current GT and HSV clubsport, the cant beat the HSV clubsport bang for bucks!!!

Its one of the fastest accelerating production cars from a standstill 0-60km/h, I have driven in a number of years. Puts the power down very well

Enjoy!

Well said. I too really like the looks of the HSV's. Great purchase.

Lucky enough for Ford, when I purchased the Typhoon last eyar it was just before the VE release and the VZ just didn't cut it for me (even Clubsports for $49990 driveaway).

I have driven two 307kw Commodores (R8 A6 and GTS M6), one of each transmission. Other than some seating position dislikes and A pillar blind spot, the only thing I didn't like was the Holden A6. The manual was a beautiful drive.

With no.3 on the way, I cannot wait for the VE wagons. It will be a toss up between a TTGhia or F6 Territory, and VE Clubsport wagon.

Arrogance such as this isn't wanted, this guy has made a decision upon driving both and has given quite valid reasons why he picked the HSV

Well done mate. Dont listen to those that say u have to only stick to one camp. In the end of the day we're all customers and as customers we expect the best for our hard earned cash (except a few of course that are 100% brand loyal who'll buy any crap). No doubt Holden/HSV has the better product right now.

While I've owned nothing but Fords since getting my license in 1978, the Holden is not a bad product...very desirable in fact ...At the end of the day the power, build quality and appeal between falcons and Commodores are virtually identical. IMO the falcon only beats the Holden on aesthetics as I think it's a better looking car.

Rewind to 1999 and the VX Commodore was against the AU Falcon...If I was in the market for a new car at that point then there's no doubt I would have gone for the Holden.

Good luck with your purchase mate...i'm sure you'll get lots of fun and pleasure out of owning such an awesome car.

BTW stay in the Forums....I don't care what you drive.

in v8 form holden may be on top atthe moment ,but in six cylinder form the holden does not come close, even with the stock motor, and the gearboxes what a joke.ive driven 2 VE sixes, one omega one calais ,both brand new.my ba with 139,000 kms on board was far more powerful and much smoother by far ,and the gearbox on the ve was cluncky.it felt like my car was the brand new car and this got car of the year.when the ba got car of the year it was based on the bottom of the line model and deserved the award.the same cannot be said about the commodore.peroid.....

Nor everyone plays by the bogan rules of "You either like one or the other". There are some educated people who look a little further than the badge on the boot. It's ok! There's nothing wrong with appreciating both!

Im wondering of all the people bagging the GTS out, how many have actually driven one, and can make an opinion based on this.

I for one haven't, but would sure as like to!!!!

At the end of the day, his car, his money, his choice!!!!
