I'd like to get a P5 LTD (4-door). If I do, I would keep the 351 Cleveland and put a big loud custom exhaust system on it. That would make an awesome barge.

I take it you got the LTD equivalent of the EF/EL.....I reckon they were the last of the great Fairlanes/LTD's.....The AU and B series Fairlane/LTD was a joke and it was hard to tell them apart from their falcon cousins. Contrast the XC Falcon and ZH Fairlane and they were worlds apart - a totally different cars

Love 'em.
Still miss my 79 FC LTD, wedgewood blue with grey leather, 3piece ROH chicanes, 17 x 8.5 and 17 x 10 under the back, 6/71 blown 351. I replaced it with a NL fairlane ghia 5.0.

Love them. My first ride in a Ford V8 was a white ZF 302. The owner was a 'keen' driver so showed me some gravel slides, etc. He'd just cruised from east to west at about 160km/h in the thing. I was stunned and hooked.
They are such good highway cars. The long wheelbase soaking up the bumps, the supply suspension floating you along. Perfect for a massive country. My favourites: ZC ZF P4 LTD AU LTD (had the 185kw XR8 motor) BF V8 6 speed. |

I have a NC SPortsman, nothing flash, all stock. So comfy and roomy!
would love to get a late model, maybe a G220, as a next car. |

You don't realise what a pieces of junk the falcons are until you have traveled long distance in the back of fairlane and LTD's and their is no complaints about who's riding shot gun.

I'm looking at getting an NF/L or AU lane shortly, I cant believe how cheap they are compared to falcons or montys of the same era. When I told my wife she asked why do you want such a big car? My answer of course was just because!!
Im spewing a mate of a mate was selling his AU it was a modded v8 20" wheels well looked after he was asking 11 which was too rich for me then he dropped it to 9 still to pricey for me. I found out the other day he sold it for 6k, exactly the money I have to play with at the moment. Not happy! |

Well I love them. How many have I had?
1969 ZC, Great car. 1974 ZG, not as good as the ZC to drive. 1978 ZH Marquis. Loved that Car! Owned it for a long time. 1994 NC Last one I Owned from new.Absolutely Great Car. Still wish I had it. After that they looked too much like a long falcon and I stopped buying the car. I really wanted a AU series Fairlane but they gave me a great deal on a red Fairmont Ghia demo car and I bought that instead. I've still got it. |

[QUOTE=TUF_302]My fav would be the ZD,
Don't know if this car is someone's on here, but I have a copy of this one blown up and use it as inspiration for mine. Absolutely reason enough for anyone to love an old Fairlane!!

They are nice cars and used to have more comparable performace to the high end falcons in the late 60s and 70s.
I've had: 2 x ZFs - 250 and 351 ZH Marquis 351 then upgraded it with high compression 460 + toploader + lowered and konis - super high speed with 2.75 diff... now have the BA G220 with some mods - lowered + konis CAI and full Herrod exhaust Next will be a GTE although I would like a LWB version of the s/c boss |

Dust my eyes deceive me? Are those FBT rims? Where on earth did you get them? Im guessing That you dont use anymore? By the wheels in your avatar that you've gone back to standard. The brutal, rude question, you wouldn't want to sell them would you? Or am I too late??

One or both wouldn't happen to be for sale would they? There ate 3 from carsales in WA two reds & a bluey. My dream garage: FBT 001 (yes that's right number 001) Two FBT'S as above. Blue & a red. T1 TL50 T2 TL50 T3 TL50 x 3 (yes all of them) KR1STOs MTL50. (I know it was for sale, but I couldnt come up 16k to buy it) Plus the current red beast. With some ah, improvements. Am I being greedy? Maybe. I just "want" the the 3T3's they are virtually all different IIRC. So all three would be like having the same car, only different. (Murray walkers voice just came into my head after that). The previous owners would be allowed to drive them whevever they wanted, & id allow die hard F'Lane & Tseries enthusiasts to come & drive them once a year. Sharing is caring, & I dont think you'd mind.......

My first car was an NF Fairlane, wrote it off a month after i got my license. It was a bit rough and had an extreme amount of K's (720thou) but kinda miss it, wouldnt mind another one.

I saved this old girl from the wreckers 4 years ago. Gave it a head job, a set of welsh plugs, fitted secondhand gas equipment and reregisted it then collected my cheque from the goverment for $2,000, net cost NILL. 95,000 Km and 4 years later still going strong, got lots of life left in it yet! Great old car for country cruising. Some times I prefer it to the Territory.
The don't make cars like this anymore. |
