This feels really weird discussing weight loss with men..
Me, I'm a gym junkie. I go daily and do weights every second day - I love my gym. I have a fair bit of weight I want to shift, so am in it for the long haul |

Ive recently started weight training with my friends, we are on a high(ish) protein diet. Things like Chicken, Turkey, egg whites, unsalted nuts etc etc and have recently gained nearly 2kg in 2 weeks which I am happy about.
I now weigh in at 82.6kg but look leaner and more defined ( my highest was 92kg of solid muscle when I was kickboxing, I'm 6ft ) Keep it up guys, motivation is the key! always helps to have someone there with you

Well here's an update from me. I decided I needed to get serious about losing weight, mainly for my health. As I eat a fairly balanced diet anyway I just decided to try to have a bit more control and smaller portions. I've also decided to do half an hour a day of exercise, mainly aerobics and stuff that I know wont hurt my back. I'm going to go and see my doctor also to get any suggests from her. I think this is an important step because there's often new options and research that we don't know of until you talk to your doctor. One thing I will be discussing with her is the contraceptive pill. For all you girls who are trying to lose weight and are on the pill it could be influencing your weight. New research also suggests it corresponds with higher rates of depression too, something I also suffer with. Depression can really affect your motivation, as well as causing your metabolism and stuff to be sluggish. So maybe talk to your doctor about this if you're a girl on the pill trying to lose weight. Anyway, that's my plan. I'll let you know how I go.

DQ, I had really bad depression and put on 20kg with the pill. I was on it for 4 years. That's what I'm trying to shift now, the pill wieght and post baby weight.
Have you tried Implanon? That was great for me. Didnt have to worry about anything for 3 years! /girly chat! |

I am on the pill and havent gained any more than 3 kg since being on it, also, depression was a slight issue before i met boyfriend, but now 11 months later i havent felt like breaking down or shutting anything out.
Now the plan is to just eat a sh!t load better and loose it...

It's just a bugger that it's so slow! I am starting up swimming again, walking just doesn't seem to do much for me. Hope everyone else is going well!

bindi, dont worry about loosing weight in such small amounts, you may well be dehydrated or have an empty stomache... the best way to judge your weight is by an weekly average, weigh yourself several times day for a week(or a few days) then average it.
And No Im not doing well I cant start back on my normal life style yet... Doh bloody doctors. |

Well, it's 5 weeks and a bit since I had a smoke... My other half threw out the scales a couple of years ago, and I haven't had the need to replace them till now...
I don't know how much I weigh... maybe 85-90? I've been replacing nicotine with food and alcohol! I'm going to get a set of scales, and see how bad it is, and where I can go from there... |

I did my weigh in tonight so far in about 5 weeks i've lost 6.5kg! I'm so happy atm.
I wanted to get under 100kg for a start and i'm now 99.1kg so another 15kg wouldn't go astray. I rekon that weight was lost from my back or something as nobody has noticed a difference yet :( but they soon will ;) |

I'm probably a bit late for this, but (somewhat co-incidentally), my wife and I decided to try and lose a bit of weight starting in mid-January. At the time, I weighed a solid 90kgs. When I jumped on the scales this morning, I weighed approx. 82kg, (according to our scales). I actually had a medical examination last week (for a job I've applied for) and that set of scales had me at 80.1... )
The "secret"? Large reduction in carbs and "junk" food (eg. Pizza and other take-away food), lots less bread, and exercising 5 times a week (3 x times cardio, and 2 x intense weight workouts). So, I'm lighter, yet stronger than I was just 2 months ago. Bonus! |

Well done Mr & Mrs Biased99
I seem to be going up in weight again... I stop exercising when I get sick (a cold atm) and it shows up very quickly! ARGH! I would love to cut out carbs but being a vegetarian if I did that, there'd be nothing left to eat! lol. What I am changing is what I eat WHEN and HOW. If I have bread it's Bakers' Delight Cape Seed Loaf - full of seeds and very heavy - it's a low GI bread so it makes you feel much much fuller than if you ate 2 slices of white bread. I make sure I have it in the morning or lunch. Pasta I am limiting to lunchtime if I do have it. Dinner is going to be salads or steamed vegies - no carbs of any kind. But I do have to ensure my protein intake is sufficient, and iron? What's that? lol : Also I am planning to eat more regularly, 5 smaller meals a day rather than 3 large ones and two snacks. I gotta get rid of sugar. I don't eat potatoes anymore either. What has everyone else tried? What has worked for them? HEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!

PS! Does anyone take vitamin supplements at all? Which ones work for you? Has anyone considered taking a supplement to help them lose or gain weight?
Every morning I have a concoction of vitamins - B complex (veggos don't get vitamin B12 as the only source is meat), Iron (veggies have non-haem iron that is not as easily absorbed as the iron from meat), a general multivitamin, Calcium (if you have enough it helps ease PMS symptoms), and Glucosamine (yes I know it's shark but after tearing cartilage in my knee playing netball, I am taking it to avoid an operation). Tell us what you take and why
