Thanks for that. I didn’t know edits reverted back to stock, is that usual? I don't know what the phone apps are, still the time may a bit of a hit and miss if you’re not 100% on the state of the car. Any way I’ll be seeing him after Christmas while visiting family and I’ll have a talk to him about it and look into what mods work well with them before I get there. I’ll set it up against something I know will run a sub 5 sec. all day and see how close it can stay in touch and make a decision from there. It’s a great looking car and a manual to boot and I’d like to keep it reasonably stock but would go a few easy bolt-ons if I can get that type of performance. It’s a freebie to a friend as he knew I was looking for a GT at the time. The dealer offered him 16k trade-in on a new FG GT and he said he’d rather shed it then be raped and insulted at the same time. In any case as a mate I’d force him to take something for it. Maybe a slab. . |

What I've noticed around here is that you have a few general categories of desirability for the Falcon product. 1. FG lovers who also tend to like the AU's but dislike B series, especially the GT 2. B series lovers who tend to like the E series and the XA to XC series but don't care too much for the AU or FG 3. Those who like them all. I find the bagging of the BA GT in here (the performance model of a car which, had it not been introduced in 2002, may have seen Ford close up shop around 15 years earlier) quite interesting. Interesting insofar as, had this instead been a thread that turned into an all out attack on the AU or FG, I wonder how long it would take for it to be closed by a mod ?

I'm #3. I just like cars, and Fords in particular. Having said that, you missed:
4. People who like whatever Ford they own and will talk up that particular model/variant and knock everyone else's to make them feel better about their purchase/situation in life. and 5. People who don't like Fords/cars/other people who just want to troll on here. EDIT: and there's probably #6 too - XR6T fanboys who "just want to go fastzorz than teh vee ates lawl" JK. But there is a group of people who just like 'fast cars' and only care about 1/4 mile times or lap times and will like whatever achieves that too. |

I ate a chicken dinner once! It was fowl....
Nothing more much to add apart from, if you own a GT, you've got something very special, no matter what model/year.

My Boss 290 in a Pursuit, stock internals apart from oil pump gears, the usual bolt ons and a big stall converter with custom lock up clutches and 4.11's. ran 11.7's @ 119mph on slicks and low 12's on street rubber.
Sick of people bagging these 5.4's, FPV did well with what they had, the yanks said it wouldn't work, I thrashed mine to 7000rpm and it never missed a beat, I've owned heaps of faster cars but not many with the character of this thing.

I currently have 10 cars, 9 have full rego and insurance and one is in pieces I also have one on order waiting for delivery and I’m waiting to see what the new final Falcon and the new C63 will be like. 5 of the cars are garaged at my Central Coast home. 2 at our Sydney house 2 at my son’s house near Orange 1 at my deceased mother’s house in the Central West where I grew up. I honestly don’t need any more cars or at least my wife doesn’t think so. Why was the car offered for free? Because some years ago his alcoholic father wrote off their family car driving home drunk from the local Golf Club and his mother had no way to get to work. I loaned her a car which she used for about 3 years before she could afford a replacement. A never forgotten good turn was being returned. He knew I was looking for a GT, preferably an XA-XC coupe when it was offered to me and honestly I didn’t want it and would never have accepted it for free in any case. If I decide to get it I’ll give him something for it. It’s unregistered, hardly been driven as he has Jap Ute thing for a daily and it’s been look after by a fanatic. It shares an old chook shed with about 2 dozen partly restored motor bikes. I’m sure other members have stories of cars sitting around doing nothing and if you know the right person some serious bargains can be available. This is my story. . |

Maybe just move something that isn't as good. If all of them are better than a 'hardly driven' and 'mint' BA GT just disregard my suggestion because I can't relate. I got 99 problems but too many cars ain't one. |

The line about the wife was tongue in cheek. She couldn’t give a stuff how many there are, she has no interest in them. I know I have enough cars but my enthusiasm doesn’t stop me from wanting more. I just didn’t want a BA GT because I was always told they were slow I was learning something different in this thread today and broke my golden rule. Never show or appear you may have something more than someone else as the Aussie tall poppy syndrome will crucify you. I’d love to be proud and open about my cars but alas it’s like when I drive some of them, I can’t park and leave them because someone takes offense and damages them. I was in West Wyalong last year, a town where no one knows me and after having lunch we came out to find someone had scratched to the metal c@#t along the side of my AMG. Two doors and the rear quarter, good stuff from a coward. I had to drive the car home with that written down the side of it.. . |

Yep, it was the first regular production GT since the XB, not an overdone limited edition like the EB & EL.
Stock for stock, it wad still quicker than the turbo. A lot people have forgotten that.
