Barney is still screwing round with the Camaro and it's unusual rear pipes. It has a muffler with 2 inlets and 2 outlets. It's mounted between the diff and fuel tank! It's one weird **** muffler. Till this damn Camaro is finished no work will start on mine :

Least I know mines at hell of a lot less screwing around. Pipes in a Falcon are a straight forward job which means nice and quick. After they are done, I might throw it on the dyno for a tune check up. I'm sure everything is bedded in now It's done 1200k's and roughly 40 1/4 mile pass's. [edit]I'm surprised on how little k's the cars actually done but then again with fuel prices I'm not so surprised.

Hopefully he started yesterday. I planned to ring him but once I got home from work I slept all day. I'm planning on dropping in there today after I pick my daughter up from school. Between dropping her off and picking her up I plan to sleep.

Rego runs out on the 12th or 13th of this month. Not long to go before it's unreg'd.

Hope so. I've sacrificed paying the reg so I can do the pipes. I'll have the $ for reg just not before it runs out.

Update : Barney started my pipes yesterday. As of this morning he's already got the passenger side 50% done and the driverside around 25% done. I'm going back in tomorrow with a camera, I forgot to take it.

Thanks John. I shouldn't need to as Barney is moving very quickly through the build due to the car being a Falcon. He likes the fact it's got plenty of clearance. Going by what I've seen today these extractors should produce a little more power than the same sized pacemakers They don't just curve/angle straight down like pacemakers do. With any luck? I might just hit 600hp @ the engine. If not it'll be damn close. I only need another 12hp to get there though.

Looking good there Brenx, when is he saying it will be finished? Are you then going to get pipes coated or what you doing with them?

What you see there is around 1 days work. From the way Barney works when motivated I dare say I'll have the car back next Friday. I'm thinking about throwing the car on the dyno to check up on the tune while it's there though.

I'm just going to paint them black. I muck around too much with the car. I'll end up wrecking a coating. Without coating the extractors will out last the car anyway.

Brenx have you been down ther today to see if there was any progress on your pipes or you waiting til later in week?

I see your point about coating but it does look good and alot better for heat in engine bay once they are coated.

12hp all you need at rear wheels is it? Do you think you will get that from these pipes?

Nah won't be going down there till much later in the week. I have to work the next few days. Looks don't interest me. I'm not a showy type of person. I just like going fast. Heats not an issue with an engine bay that size. If it was a circuit car I'd think otherwise.

12 extra hp is all I need to make 600hp @ the engine. I had my engine engine dyno'd with pacemaker 1 7/8" and 3.5" collectors. The custom ones are a better design. With the custom ones Barney has set the pipes up in firing order. At the collector the exhaust being expelled will scavange more effectively and in a circular motion unlike pacemakers. Another difference is pacemakers when the exit the flange they drop straight down, which is a slight restriction. The custom ones don't drop straight down the exit the head straight and slowly curve down. Something else Barney has done for me. ;) With pacemaker 1 7/8" and 3.5" collectors you can't run powersteering. Primary pipes foul the box. The custom ones allow me to run a powersteering box.

My last set of extractors did 31,200k's. The chance of the pipes failing/rusting away on me are zero.

I've got more mods in mind. Not so much to make more hp but to increase the torque level.

Any news or progress yet Brenx? Interested to see if you can find that extra 12hp you need! When are you putting that bonnet on?

I'm hoping to drop by Hallam today. I won't know if I've picked up the hp as Hallam is only a chassis dyno. If I dyno at Hallam this will be the 1st time the 393 has been chassis dyno'd. I maybe taking the engine back to Pavtek for a fiddle on the engine dyno late this year.

So far I've spent 5 hours on the bonnet. Still can't get it to fit onto the bonnet frame. The problem is at the front of the skin the corners are rounded. On the frame the corners are 90 deg angles. That'd where I've spent 5 hours trying to square off the rounded corners. It'll get there. I don't think the bonnet will be on the car anytime soon. There's too much work involved and I don't have that much free time.

I was hoping today I can't see that happening. I'm sure Barney, Andrew will look after me in price due to delays. They usually do. What is slowing it is other cars coming in to get systems done. I should get some pics on Saturday.

I didn't think, I'd be able to drop in their yesterday. I needed to pick up 4 new brake rotors for my EL. I was supposed to be able to pick them up in the AM. So I headed to Ringwood early in the day. I rang to see if he was there and he told me 12pm. Then I went there @ 12 and he wasn't there. He didn't get there till 12.45pm. Basically wasted 2/3rds of a day and only got to drop in for 10mins at Hallam. Yesterday was a pain in the butt.
