I believe one of the Bond films, had a BMW Z8 - With a Chevy V8 engine in it, for a beefier sound - obviously things need to be more dramatic on film/TV - otherwise it will look and sound like a home-video.

Anyone else notice the DeLorean in Back to the Future sounded NOTHING like a 2.8 litre V6? It was a Chev.

dont flatter yourself...lol:

that was done because a) BWM engines are expensive to cut in half
b) it was a proto-type
c) so they could fit other gadgets under the hood

The astons where modified this way aswell.
Anyways this is not about that, its about how holden have finally given up producing a V8 (or 6 for that matter) that is pleasing to the ears.

Well i thought there would also be other reasons, because sound can be added later in post production. But the reason I read in an article was for sound.

I really wonder sometimes, obviously not all the sound is from my car, for a start how would you record it driving around the backyard?

Anyhows, if you need to question an admins motive to posting this thread then I say there is something seriously wrong :(

And yes, Jeffruy was there.

I'll have a stab in the dark and say it's only the idle sound of the Windsor that is being used.. yeah?

There is something serious wrong when admins get sooky over nothing. Not once did I say "I dont believe you" or anything like that....you guys think "we" dont read posts...
_2:

that must have been one very amusing initial phone conversation...lol.."Hi its xx here, we are making the last monaro add, can we use your car for the sound effects"...lol

That would almost be worth doing it for free!

Yeah, cos modern V8s burble on deceleration....

It's nothing to do with Holden, it's all in the ADRs.

A guy at work owns one of these CV8Z's. Definatley sounds like a boss engine too me. It might look like any ordinary LS1, but when he started it, for sure it was a boss. I think it may have been a 290.

That's the way I understood it too. BTW, no point signing up to those forums to reply, they've locked that thread. :hihi:
