If people continue to convert their orders from Wildtrak to Platinum is Ford going to convert some of the build numbers from Wildtrak over to Platinum?

It will be up to the dealer on what they do with their allocations regarding free'ed up Wildtrak.

I’d love a Ranger Raptor but I’m pretty sure my wife would be much keener on a Platinum presentation wise than a RR for a daily. Same goes for the Everest you don’t need a full “Raptor Spec” version to have interest in that engine. |

Well i've bitten the bullet and ordered a Wildtrak V6 with premium pack and 20 inch wheel option. May switch the order early next year to something else that is on the way though, depending on where they position and price it. Going to be a long wait though, as waiting times for Wildtrak V6 have blown out to at least 12 months.

The sort that excuse that pathetic excuse of a diesel V8 as "under-stressed"......

Its good to see people taking the **** out of the 79 series with how ridiculous that absolute clown show is for the price of it. Like if it was $40K DA fair enough, but $83K + ORC for povvo spec? |

Guess I better not tell anyone on AFF that I'm buying a 76 series. They might laugh at me.

I get the love for a 70 Series, kinda like me buying the last of the Victa 2-Strokes, the idea that they are simple, hard working mowers. However, as you say at $40K, a 70 Series has merit. But Toyota are simply taking the pi.s with what they ask for them.

I don't think we'll see a Raptor with a 50cal mounted in the back of it any time soon..
Some 79 customers want something simple and easy to fix if it breaks

I don't think I would call a turbocharged diesel V8 simple though.

Don't get me wrong, I understand the sentiment entirely, but that 4.5L TD V8 isn't exactly simple and it's rather fragile, especially with poor quality diesel and even without poor fuel, the fuel delivery side of it are prone to dramas - it's the same as any modern diesel engine. I've had to fix a couple of these things for injectors, and they're not cheap it's circa $10K for the set before you even put them in. I reckon they're trading on reputation they built up in the 1980s/1990s with their utes, the last good engine they had was the 1HD-FTE. Though I wouldn't mind a 79 series with a 6sp manual and the Toyota 3UR-FE unleaded V8 that the Lexus LX570 variation of the 200 series has - 284KW/543NM. Franco's Widowmaker |

Alright, lets rephrase the question to remove confusion
Who'd buy a 79 series over the new Ranger in an equivalent price bracket In that clip they **** can the tyres the Raptor comes with, Ford should offer a no cost option when you buy the Raptor with highway tyres. Or even a 'street package' which does away with all the jumping over sand dunes stuff and makes a road/track focused car. Road/track package Thailand Special, now we've seen everything |

I'm at work. I'll watch it when I get home. Might send it to some people I know who are rusted on 70 series tragics.

83k for a pov spec 79 series, wow. Reminds me of my old L300. Wind your windows, lock your doors, move your mirrors by hand. But it is the deffinition of ute. Utility. Only reason it has anything safety is to comply with minimum safety standards. Love it. Not 83k love it though.
Cant see many people buying a pov pack 79 as a personal car. Maybe farmers or people with large properties. Maybe mining companies will buy them for fleets. I see plenty of the new raptors around. Thing is though, just like sr5 hi luxs and the like, they will never see even a dirt road, tow a trailer or have anything more then the weekly shopping in the tray or maybe a laptop bag. They are a ute, but getting up there in price towards that of a luxury car. So majority of buyers are middle aged men who want to say 'yeah, i own a ute' but heaven forbid it gets a scratch on it. |

OMFG....we had a 1970's blue Nissan E20 Urvan that looks the same vintage as this 2022 Toyota....the interior door trim, door card, door locks....the absolute maximum 10cm from external door skin to your the elbow inside...I had a DeJa'Vu flashback/nightmare....getting dropped off at high school when it was raining heavily and asking dad to park a block away and he always refused....and then praying for no rainy days for the rest of the school year....
those quarter vent front windows however were a pleasant memory jog of our 1970 XW Falcon 500 wagon....in green of course... |

https://www.safescape.com/vehicles/agrale-marrua https://www.trucksales.com.au/editor...or-aus-118570/ The AM300 single cab is a decent sized ute: https://www.agrale.com.br/userfiles/...1456432668.jpg Drum brakes on the rear - Brazillian Special I see the Safescape spec one has the bigger Cummins F3.8 engine rather than the 2.8L the AM300 has on its spec sheet, maybe out of date website. https://www.cummins.com/engines/f38-stage-v Its down a bit on power but up heaps on torque in comparison to Toyota's junk 4.5L V8. Hits all the points that the 79 series crowd likes aside from the Toyota badge. Last edited by Franco Cozzo; 09-12-2022 at 06:40 PM. |
