Comments: Nice cut of cow, not your minute steak. Not pink but still nice and moist in the middle. Served with lettuce, beetroot, tomato and some of the best caramelized onion I've had in a while. The bread was toasted perfectly.
Star Rating (out of 5, 5 the highest, 1 the lowest): a solid 4

Shame about the shredded lettuce... otehrwise it looks rather good

Name of Cafe/Restaraunt:Saint Bernard Hotel Mt Tamborine
Price:$18.50
Date Consumed:3 August 2008
Comments:It was different. It had your usual salad stuff and a nice piece of steak in it. Onion Jam(thats what the menu called it. The bread roll it came on was smotherd in garlic butter. Served with some really nice chips. Overall it was very nice. But it wasn't a steak sanga it was a steak roll and it was def a little on the poofy side.
Star Rating (out of 5, 5 highest 1 lowest):not good enough to make a 5 to good for a 3.5..... 4.1 from me.

Yeah, I'll second 99GHIA's review, it tasted good, but was a bit too girly to be a proper steak sambo.

Name of Cafe/Restaraunt: Unsure of name, in the foodcourt across from KFC George St Sydney. A sandwich shop
Price: $12 inc can of coke and chips
Date Consumed: 24/7/08
Comments: Made perfectly, real steak cooked infront of me on freshly cut bred with fresh lettuce, cucumber, beetroot, real cheese and tomato sauce(sorry not a fat of onion or tomato)

Star Rating (out of 5, 5 highest 1 lowest):4.5 - great price for CBD take away and the quality was excellent

Actually, that food court has produced the best take away ive ever had whether its a Chicken schnitzel roll, chicken ceasar, combo long short soup, malaysian, roast pork and gravy etc etc..

probably the best steak sandwich ive ever had was from Ribs, Rumps and Seafood in Gordon on Sydneys North Shore. But - thats a full blown restaurant($16-17 i think it was - though seriously, go there.. best ribs EVER, u get about 1 side of a cow(& about 3" thick!) and they come with a side of half a marinated chicken and fries! lol).

Name of Cafe/Restaraunt:The Ripe Tomato - Borella Road Homebase Centre Albury
Price:$10 I think? Not sure
Date Consumed:9 August 2008
Comments:I'd been wanting a steak sandwich since breakfast so I decided it would be worth a shot at this cafe. Walked in and it was listed on the menu as a "steak sanga", which gave the indication that these people were intimate enough with the recipe to identify it in a slang manner. I asked for it to be served with chips and gravy, as Im beginning work on another long held food mystery - how they get shop gravy to taste so good.

When it arrived it looked great - all very fresh and it was presented really well BUT then the waitress ruined it with 5 words - "I didnt put sauce on it". Well this just put me in a bad frame of mind and from there it was doomed to fail. The onion WASNT cooked and the steak was small - big no-no. These people obviously do not know who I was. It had the potential to be great, but in the end it was the food equivalent to a David Koch - all talk and no actual substance. It also didnt help that midway through the second half of the sandwich, two girls with more makeup than David Koch walked into the cafe - instantly my appetite was on its way to the other side of the country.

Star Rating (out of 5, 5 highest 1 lowest):3 - was ok but the lack of a sauce option and no knife and fork made the gravy hard to work with. I may eat like a pig but I dont like to be treated like one!

Forgot to get a pic of the sanga at the GCAFD but for what it was it wasn't bad.....

Name of Cafe/Restaraunt: the only hot food van at the GCAFD
Price: $17.50 (Was purchased with a Hot-dog for the girlfriend, hot chips, and a Coke
Date Consumed: 10th Aug
Comments:
I'm sorry to you all but i don't eat rabbit food, however, the steak (minute scotch fillet) was nice and tender even though it was a bit too cooked for me, had onion on it which i don't normally eat, and barbque sauce. Was on plain white bead, untoasted, which was nice and fresh. Tasted really good for what it was, hot food van food.

Star Rating (out of 5, 5 highest 1 lowest): 3/3.5

Steak was average at best. Fried onion. BBQ sauce. It wasn't bread it wasn't toast.
It was like it had been toasted with a blow torch. I won't say any more as
the pic speaks volumes.
Star Rating (out of 5, 5 highest 1 lowest):1.5 and only got that as steak was tender.

Comments:OK, it wasn't me that ate it, was my fiance. Billed as a SBLT, was told the steak was tender as (Rib fillet), bread was thick and toasted 100%, excellent amount of tomato, lettuce and bacon with "onion jam".
Star Rating (out of 5, 5 highest 1 lowest): She said 4.5, with the exception that she isn't a fan of lettuce. I was absolutely spewing I didn't order it, cause it would've been a 5.

Ignoring Peuty's idiot comment (no new wheels for you now )

I dont care if tastes nice it sounds GAY. Take a good look at an onion and tell me if you'd spread it like jam on a piece of plain toast - no, you wouldnt, so how could it possibly be made into anything close to jam?!

Cut the bloody thing up and cook it on the BBQ like it's supposed to be done.

Name of Cafe/Restaraunt:Cafe in David Jones (sydney city store)
Price:$16
Date Consumed:13/08/08 time approx 12.40.
Comments: looked great on the menu, however they did the unthinkable... It was served as an "open" sandwich. They also combined really good steak with crappy white toast as the bread. Onions on top were ok. no relish or sauce was annoying and they forgot the mustard that was on the menu. bugger all chips as well.
Steak size and flavour was ok. everything else was a let down

Star Rating (out of 5, 5 highest 1 lowest):3. thay have to do better than just a good steak to get a 4 or 5 rating me thinks.

$16 better include a damned good sandwich, a Corona and a VERY attractive waitress on the right side of 25.
