What a biblical piece of Aussie machinery the W1 is...cant wait to see how much better it performs against the regular GTS
Sad to see that the production of Aussie performance cars is pretty much done now though..

I quite like it myself, can't afford one though.
Have to admire the engineering and development that has gone into it. I even don't mind the looks, looks better than the current HSV and you can see the themes working at the front where lines flow on from one surface to the next.

I'd say it will get smoked down the quarter by the AWD automatic Germans, but it will probably be the quickest production four door around a track.

If I had the money I don't think I would buy one. I think if you wanted outright performance for the money , I am thinking GTR Skyline . If you wanted to be king of heap on HSV Day , yes definitely. To buy it as an investment , I think you would be better off buying shares or property.

Looking at the car in the videos, it looks much better in the metal than in the still photos. So I think in real metal it will look pretty good.
If Ford had given us the intercooler, huge brakes, dry sump, and track bred suspension with 800nm and close on 500 kw in the 8 Sprints we would all have been drooling. Maybe not for $175,000 but for $100,000, with carbon fibre tailshaft and wavetrac diff... Still- hats off to HSV for going out with a bang and not a wimper.

This thread reminds me of when a celebrity dies, whether you loved them or hated them, there will always be a minority coming out to bag them for some poor reason.
New Australian cars are dead. Why can't we just all take the blue glasses off for a second and with respect say, wow, look how damn good the last Falcon and Commodore, and think what could have been.

So many holden fans on here were disrespectful when Ford shut up shop. Why do we need to be disrespectful now, this car may not be your cup of tea but it is the last aussie car being built.
They've done a good job with what they have in the parts shed. I think if it came in at the 110-120 mark they probably have it about right.

I think some of the members on here are a bit butt hurt because this is what we wanted for the sprint.
This send off, with this package. If all that tech was stuffed into the sprint, no one would have complained. But it's a HSV! We gotta flame it!

I'm pleased ford did what they have as it was a stretch for me to get what I've always wanted....if it had even been 100k I couldn't have done it , so good on you ford for giving your fans something a little bit special (sprint)for the average fan I actually prefer the ssv redline over this and it's a shame holden didn't do something (sprintish) out of respect to their average Joe long term fans Just my opinion

If I could afford to buy one I would. I don't really like that gold colour or the front bar but it ticks all the other boxes.

I just wanna know the legalities of putting down a deposit on a 170k car, then being told it just went up 60-80k, just because F you.
Surely there's an anti price gouging law?

It is an odd one, isnt it? I mean, say you put down a deposit on a $170k car, then found one for $150k, the dealer would still expect you to honour the contract, or lose your deposit.

Will be interesting to see what this W1 is road tested against by journos.
Remembering the XR8 Sprint was put up against the HSV GTS on multiple occasions - hopefully the W1 be similarly bench-marked against something 40% more expensive, with an obvious conclusion. |

Well HSV just demolished the Sprint with that car. Granted it's dearer but I reckon they'd have been ford fans to pay the same price for a car ford made to the same calibre.
So, whens the GT getting here? ;) |

So many lols and sour grapes here...
If this was the final local ford performance release with the equivalent specs , this thread would have had more hits and drool than pornhub. HSV are offering a final hammer blow to anyone that can afford it . The tech and driveline speaks volume for the effort that's gone into producing this car. Always makes me laugh when I hear the same old dribble about how an XR6T with 10 k worth of mods is so much better and faster bro. Blah blah blah. End of the day, HSV had the intestinal fortitude to bring this type of product to the market , something that Fraud could only dream about. HSV are going out with a bang and not a whimper. The only thing about it that I don't like is that I can't afford it...

According to the spiel in that video the front bars design is functional directing air flow to the coolers..................still can't get my head around the lounge room chairs in the W1 track car though. Cheers Mick |
