"HA HA"
With this web link in a old ABRAXAS Thread I have managed to pull my old head lamps completly apart.

So now with the new head lamps I can mix the bad with the good and have two near new head lamps "AGAIN".

Also now I can see why they are so exspensive due to the complexity of making them.

Just for interest they are made in Mexico thank god for cheap labour.

To get the black silicone off I but the lens cover I put it in the "FREEZER" and just peeled off like peeling an orange.

Default New Tyres at Last !!!

Finally got my new tyres fitted on the weekend and got a pretty good deal I think.

4 x BF Goodrich 215/45 x17 G FORCE SPORT = $720.00 :

This was by far the best price around as I was prepared to pay $900.00 for Kumhos. The only problem was they couldn't get my CAT onto their wheel alignment machine as my car is to low so I will have to take it elsewhere.

The difference is amazing it is like driving around on rails.

Cougs good to hear your lights are fixed.

I don't know how to program a key but I do know that the instructions for turning off the "spanner" are in the owners manual - which reminds me my spanner is ON at the moment - must do something about that.

The NECO website would be your best bet for progamming the key.

As my CAT is coming up for rego I decided to fix my front engine mount and boy what a difference it has made. She runs so much smoother now and with the new tyres it feels like a new car. My mechanic has suggested the rear mount will need to be done within the next six months, according to him the front mount was completely cactus.

It's funny it was one of those things that just got progressively worse without really noticing it and it wasn't until it got really noisy that it came to my attention.

I have also discovered that I have a leak in the power steering system as the resevoir needs to be filled every weekend now so I will get that fixed next week, hopefully it is not the pump and is just a leaking hose (fingers crossed).

Anyway "HAPPY MOTORING" everybody.

Bad news yesterday, the power steering pump on my CAT is gone and needs to be replaced. My mechanic advised at least $450.00 to repair the old one, if the parts were available, so got on-line and ordered one from RockAuto in the USA.

Re-manufactured power steering pump U$157.49 = A$238.62 delivered in Sydney.

"Happy Motoring" everbody.

Cougs the answer to your question will most probably be found on the NECO site - the fountain of knowledge for all things COUGAR.

I did a quick search and found this link:

They do look good but I would wait until the exchange rate gets a bit better as it will make a big difference to the end price.

A brembo brake kit front and rear.

would be a custom fitment but it should be possible. We would need the car to make the kit and depending on many things including rotor size and how much aluminium is needed for brackets and hats etc the price could be anywhere between $6500 to $8000.

Rock is good.. you could have also got the same part next day from this mob for around A$188+gst with a local warranty. They don't advertise much but carry an increasing amount of USA Ford service parts to some extent anyway.
https://pontiworld.com.au/usafordsp/...6c455ae84d0ee3

They got us some Exploder & Thunderbird parts.. could not get them cheaper from Rock & got a warranty without having to deal with a yank.

Unhappy fuel eco

just though I would put my fuel comp figures in and say this
I have had figures as low as 8.4 per 100 to 11 per 100 using same fuel week to week and same drive style and same route to work tyre pressure always checked so the difference must be in fuel quality from batch to batch from supplier!!!!!!!!

I have read countless threads about fuel consumption and I can tell you that the read out on these cars is hopelessly unreliable. The only way to know for sure is to calculate it manually.

Hi,
I hope every one had a nice chrissse and I hope every ones going to have a better new year.
Fuel comp also depends on how often you use your air con. I to can get 8ltrs while free way driving, and with city driving because of the chip If I can stay under the 4000 rpms driving like an old nanner my fuel can be 10ltrs. But it is hard to do.

So 8 ltrs to 11 ltrs is still pretty good because I have had cars that use 13 ltrs city driving.

cat1999, welcome to the forums, and yes, tell us about your ride

I agree with the above statements about fuel consumption. I've been able to get a 6 reading with a/c on, whilst coasting downhill and after only just resetting the computer! hahaha... I think it's reasonably accurate, but I've peaked up to 11.3/100 recently which I think is due to my changed work location where I'm stop/starting more often and the hotter weather etc hasn't helped the cause.

I rarely drive with a/c off (howabout never) but on a motorway/highway 8 should be doable even with a/c...

Dan
