What about the original 1960 falcon? Its reasonable rare and they had to start somewhere.

I trully believe that the XE ESP 351 4 speed will be the next inline to rise as they were the last luxury V8 built and another to watch out for is the sprints not many around these days at all hard to to find good examples of as others have earlier posted look at the Valiants Chargers you could get them next to nothing but trully an assue icon along with Holden and Ford but with the passing of Brock as to why the Brock is such a sought after collector and big dollar car and king of the mountain just look back into history what we used to watch on a Sunday arvo to see our blokes ride our dream cars today which we want NOW to place next to the daily in the garage.

But the Ford XF has no place in History as its sad to say it will be like the XC GXL(nice car underestimated) as the Cobra made the model stand out as to why I say the next of the Muscle V8's will be the XD and XE ESP's and follow through to Sprints and FPV models with performance within the years to come.

Each to there own on opinions but its an open forum with discussions as to why we reply with views as these topics are what we love the cars for.

Hey what do people think about the 4 door Chrysler/Valient VH pacers? I think they are based off a regal and have either a V8 or hemi 6 option.

they've gone up ridiculously in the past 18 months, but I dont rekon they'll hang. They shouldn't go any further either. I prefer the pre-VHs if you're going 4 doors, otherise hardtops are the go. Best of both worlds though is the Dart bodied vals, the pre-vh hardtops. $$ though, but they're still affordable if you're lucky in a blue moon.

Ah I just was asking because I saw a blond olive one for sale, good nik, V8 auto and his asking $13k. Im sure $10k isn't out of the equation. I like the look of them.

There is a vitamin c one on carsales, 6 pack manual and his asking $18k.

wondering if it would be any more of an investment then say a k code fairlane.

I wouldn't be paying that sort of money for one unless it was an R/T pacer, or a particularly nice original condition car with no blemishes. Depends what you're into though. Still, I can't forsee them being a particulalry great investment except if you're the one selling them at those prices...
..but those have been famous last words in the past, so go figure. Just pay what you want for what you want. There was a VG Pacer hardtop this week which was 'complete' for $2025 on the auctions. I didn't bid. Perhaps I should have, but I can hold out for one that's actually assembled - one in original condition was being sold about a month ago on eBay and it looked bloody mint. Missed the auction, unfortunately. Wait for another one. The seller was Dave Ritchie though.

well, I would consider anything pre-XC to be now considered collectible. Obviously the XW/XY commanding most of the value!
anything in coupe form, also.

really hard to guage anything made in modern times that will be worth anything (ie: go up in value), if at all. All comes down to the enthusiasts for the cars, if they are there, its worth something.
so with that in mind, the AU T-series and BA> F6 are the pick. XR6t to a lesser extent.
We won't really know till the I6 block is finally phased out, who knows, decent condition Tickfords could hold their value okay in years to come too.

The only XF I can think of that mat be worth something that I know of would be a Fairmont Ghia 5-speed. Apparently only 200 factory-5 speeds were produced...

XF falcon collectable sorry can't see it myself. I don't reckon anything after 1983 personally. Then again collectability is what someone is interested in and willing to pay for. I am pretty sure that my 63 squire is only going to appreciate, low production numbers, didn't really take off with the oz public like the XY 4wd, which does help make cars more sought after. But it still turns heads and i love driving it when i can. : )

I think 70s cars were collectable because the cars that came out in the 80s and 90s absolutely sucked! Now every model is better than the one it replaces in every single way, and that pretty much applies to all brands. So I don't see modern mass-produced cars becoming a collectable.

What you say is pretty true. Look at the XR6T, a brilliant machine but each new one is better so there is little reason to buy an old one. Perhaps when we are driving around in hybrids the turbos will achieve cult status.

For me a modern "classic" would be the T series. I love those cars and they have presence on the road.

hard to pinpoint an exact model
most of the V8 version earlys(xr-xe) command good money
the factory 351s more so than 302s
then the rarer versions ,"GS","rallypaks"ect
but dont confuse collectable for investment

Low kilometres F250 with the 7.3l powerstroke.
They are the only reasonably new ford that are worth more now than what they were new. A good one with less than 40K on the clock are commanding over 100 grand.

Well if you are only after an investment why buy restrict yourself to a ford? If I was buying a car as an investment as a future collectable I would buy something that is already collectable to some degree and shed it. You can't be emotional about your choice if you are after the biggest return on your investment. You would want to consider buying a car you don't personally like if your biggest concern is how much money you can get for it in the future.

But I would prefer a car I want to drive NOW. It's like buying artwork from an unknown artist, buy what you like and if it increases in value, that's a bonus

Sorry if that isn't very helpful but something to think about.

its something that is always going to cause arguments amongst car people. one would imagine that a xf stock wouldnt be worth much now, but if kept in good order and free of most rust it could be.
we brought our old man a LJ 4 door torrana bog stock in original 1 owner condition for 6k 2 years ago. only managed to get it because we wernt turning it into a drag car. like anything, people will pay what they want if they want it. we estimate that because there are very few in the condition of dad's (original and untouched) it will be worth atleast 20k in the near future, as the numbers decrease
