my brother left Holdens and got more than that
If you want to start looking into Penalty rates, allowances, Super payments and there generous Pensions then start at the top with the Pollies they should lead by example not pick on the people that are struggling to make ends meet

Then you talk to some twit who thinks he is hard done by and he has not a clue is totally ignorant and would never have the guts or ability to have a go himself. Then we have today people calling labours tradesmen for crying out loud ! talk about fools, they don't even know the difference. then they winge you earn too much but they don't have a clue what is involved in running a business at all and i have had some so called trades think they are making big money but the fact is they are just turning over a lot more money and are blind to comprehending the bottom line. |

See it all the time and they can be tradesmen professionals as well. My builder mate will spin so much crap to the owner then when it comes to building the house he will cut corners like you would not believe then try to rip every other trade off if he can. he is so full of it and most are nowadays. If i point out something is wrong over the last 10 years they don't care at all, just smash it out man ! now if they were building a car |

Its over the whole workforce.. But lets not forget if you're driving to work ?? Fuel, tolls just to get there.. Then rent or mortgage, plus power, rates etc etc..
One thing is to winge about the wages but how do people survive out there ??

Truth is stranger than fiction. The hypocrisy exhibited by our current government reads like Animal Farm!
I totally agree that the wages and conditions that some workers enjoy are overly generous but the extent to which they can be blamed for any decline in the Australian economy is heavily overstated. What is understated is the role of the many vested interests who's snouts are firmly embedded in the trough. Lenore Taylor has written a good article on exactly this and the first 15 mins from this video would be funny if it wasn't so chillingly accurate. |

working conditions in this country are on par with that of europe, canada
not the USA, they need help. but there is such a selfish culture over there things will never change. lets look at the basic's of our working conditions. australia vs america OH&S is over the top its getting stupid vs OH&S is so relaxed its basically non existent Work cover if you injury yourself ( In qld employers have to insure you by law, not sure about other states) vs have to appeal to claims court for compensation/ or have included in your own personal health cover overworked with minimal staff vs overworked with to much staff, dont get enough hours or used and abused. breaks, sick leave, holidays, rdo's vs non-existent, no annual holidays in most cases unless part of contract. no sick pay unless part of contract. rdo (your dreaming) Last edited by dirtyclevo; 02-03-2014 at 03:07 PM. |

..... The conditions and pay rates are fine...if anything conditions could be tones down but what we have is fine. I don't understand asking for more in terms of pay or conditions especially in the current economic climate. I would say pay increases once the economy kicks into gear again. At the moment I would be more happy knowing I can pay my bills for the next few years rather then worrying about were my income will come through next.

I used to work for liquorland back in the early 2000's and according to the then new wesfarmers O H & S policy it turns out that if i was assaulted by a member of the public i was not allowed to defend myself or use force in anyway to remove myself from danger. I am not joking it was unbelievable.
so i'm guessing it was a way of them avoiding getting sued or similiar at the cost of beaten, bruised or even killed employee's. well the policy didn't work very well, because one day this lil ghetto bastard threw a can of jim beam at me because i wouldn't let him "pay me tomorrow" i dodged it, it hit the cigarette racks. i jumped over the counter, kicked him in the gut and threw him out of the shop. good thing the local police beat was around the corner, officer dickwad took a leisurely stroll over and arrested him while he was screaming abuse at us from the carpark good thing i was only filling in at that store for the day! my braindead co-worker loved it. ah the good 'ol days! Might upset a few here but HR is a whole level of staff in most places now . Where a few years ago the boss did it with some help of maybe one person in the organisation !! They get way more pay in most cases than the qualified people doing the work !!

well our lovely caring govt just approved a 10% private health increase , and rebate % reduction , they are also introducing charges for medicare to see a doctor , reducing penalty rates , taking cheap medicines off the elderly , and taming unfair dismissal laws , and cracking down heavily on workers compensation . so much so that our superannuation companies are retiring young people on TPD at record levels . ALL this in a time when our manufacturing is being lost to australians and foreigners are paying record prices for our homes unseen .
i think the govt is on the right track big time with these changes . we have had it too good for too , long and the people have spoken and fiinally placed our now better govt in our country to finally make our land of the free , a much better place to be . |

Sad to say but australia is going the same way. the day of trying different jobs has gone as you need a ticket for anything you do now so makes it impossible to try different things.
Entitlements are dwindling, some due to workers fault for example a recent company i worked for was going through eba negotiations. Anyway the workers voted not to have rdo's because they wanted to have the extra couple dollars each week, but they were already working 12 hour days and some saturdays. Well silly them, many people have faught hard for things like rdo's, annual leave, etc. You may have some better entitlements here in australia but literally most of you spend half your life at work, and they are trying to make it that your partner does the same, because its near on impossible to live of 1 wage anymore. this debate opens a can of worms to a lot more social problems we have compared to 20 years ago were i could play ball with my kids after an 8hour day shift getting $18 an hour 20 years ago. |

We had a truck driver come into work the other day, and we got to talking about the stuff he delivers to csg sites. He said at one site it took 8 people including himself just over an hour to unload just 5 standard pallets of freight lol, they had spotters, escorts supervisors lol, but just one forklift driver.

I'll start with, we are not in a recession, maybe you need to look up the meaning of recession. The rest of your post is just a joke.
