if you look at any current car magazine prices are list at 43k & 44k for fg1 xr6, commodores about 1k dearer list price, so i wouldn't worry what they put up as advertised price. the skys not falling just yet. and how many of the people that are complaining about the price are going to buy one anyway. put up and support ford!

Thats what I was thinking.

Something is seriously wrong with the prices as there is no way in hell they would, or could justify putting up the price of certain models by over $7000.

I would bet every cent I have that these website numbers are incorrect.

Definately seems like the prices they pay over in NZ, as I have never seen Ford increase the price of an updated model by more than $1000 let alone $7000.

Ok this is a very trivial question I know, but has to do with the little man who walked out on the screen on the FG I colour screen.

Does that animation happen on the new touch screens or was he made redundant last month to control costs on FGII?

Just curious as I thought that was a pretty cool little touch on the FG I displays.

Hi Boss,

Do you know anything about why the LPi only has the 17" wheels and not the 18" that come with the XR6 Petrol?

Would I be able to fit 18" at some point down the line if needed to the LPi? It's obviously not a deal breaker, but I'd probably be wanting 18" wheels!

Not sure. DSC tune maybe?

There won't be any dramas fitting 18's to it.

We could be looking at the next SR20 here, I wouldn't put it down too early.

I'm going to go against the grain and say I rather like it, more sleek/refined, curious about the headlights, are the Territory/FGII HID projector headlights? Or are they just Halogen projectors? Still if the latter its better than halogen reflectors.

Which is what annoys me, we live in Australia, particularily out in the country, good lights are a requirement, I was talking to my local Ford dealer on the top of the range LW Focus, he said that the HID projectors are a $2500 option, which I think is a bit over the top, particularily if they're the crappy Hella projectors.

Some little errors in the spec lists, like Front fog lights and Front LED position lamps standard on the G6E & G6ET.

Forget the AU, its probably quicker then an FG I6 with the possible exception of the LPI.

And considerably lighter so it should go around corners better as well.

Its the same system as in the new Territory, and from memory I don't think they do that

Been in the back of my mind ever since last month or whenever the first pics of the FG2 were released

Discuss!

At least the Audi and Mazda ones are convex, whereas the FG2 ones are concave, but I think the design is pretty damn close.

True, nice find there. It wouldn't have anything to do with Ford having used to own Mazda?
Anyway I thought they also looked like larger versions of the SY MKII territory ghia turbo rims

Just as a comparison...

XT - $48,100 - NZ$48,490
G6 - $51,371 - NA
G6E - $58,762 - NZ$58,990
G6ET - $69,913 - NZ$63,990
XR6 - $50,949 - NZ$53,990 (runout NZ$44,990)
XR6T - $57,282 - NZ$58,990

so some prices are close to NZ price but some are not (G6ET)

strange

Yes quite right and even more disturbing for N.Z. customers Ford N.Z. seemed to have previously been able to extract advantageous pricing that didn't really reflect the spot exchange rate BUT this policy may no longer hold if the latest example of relative pricing is anything to go buy.

Check out the relative trans-tasman pricing of a top spec Titanium Focus with radar cruise optioned in, in Australia circa $35,000, N.Z. price $49,490 plus on-roads !!! I think we get sat nav as standard but $50,000 on the road for a little Focus, WTF ??

If this very recent pricing example is a portender of things to come, that exchange rate will bite N.Z. customers really hard as we go into 2012.

Interesting.....

Eg; XR6T

58,990.00 NZD = 45,413.99 AUD

1 NZD = 0.769859 AUD or 1 AUD = 1.29894 NZD

Imagine if Ford N.Z. are forced into pricing N.Z cars at 30% more than their $A prices, that would be really scary !! That would make a G6ET $91,000

Speaking of strange, there's a new G6ET on trade me on run-out special at $50,490 drive away, that's extraordinary value for money. Flick me a PM and i'll send you a link if you're interested, that's if I don't buy it first !!

So after four pages of people taking about pricing and price haggling can we get back to what has changed in FGII. After reading through all the dribble in this thread so far I seem to be able ascertain it has bigger screen inside (like Territory) and Territory style grille.

I laughed when I saw that price on ford.co.nz

Focus Titanium will be the Mondeo ST220 of 2012

this thread is to discuss all aspects of the new MK2. That includes price. It's not what i'd call dribble.

And Mondeo pricing and how to buy a car etc. etc. If pricing only thing being talked about doesn't sound good for FGII does it!

I just looked up the RRP of a 2011 Mk1 and Mk2 XR6 auto no options (which is what most of them are) using an industry commercial pricing system not a public one.

Not counting state taxes/duty, rego, CTP and all the other on costs which will be the same for both and will just vary depending on where you are:

Mk1 about $44k
Mk2 about $46k

So it has gone up about 4% (you know, about the same as wages) and appears to have a lot more goodies standard.

This whole price scare is really just a storm in a teacup.
