Make sure you sharpen your crayons, we want a nice map coloured in between the lines

Can we still get to the infield as spectators?

You need to jump in with a car running (pit crew)or jump the fence around the side like you used too..

Does that mean I can sneak in that way as a spectator? or will they have a list?

Yes that is fine. I'll have mine and if it fits under my car it fits under anycar. You'll have to wait until I've used it though :

Spooly may draw you a map but basically you enter down pit lane, stay on the left hand side, stop level with the start line and wait for a marshall to wave you across the track at the rear of the burnout area to drive around the far hairpin bend, then you do a U-turn to park where the officials have given us a section to park.

You go back the same way to have your race, and at the end of the 400, you can either turn right at the last corner and drive around the track back to the parking area (don't drive fast otherwise everyone gets in strife), or you can turn left and follow the return track to the timing booth to pick up your ticket. The only problem is that if you go to the timing booth after every run, you have to work your way down pit lane again and cross the start line, but on the other hand if you go back to the parking space after the finish line you miss out on your time ticket.

We used to either not go to the timing booth if we knew it was an average run, or get someone to stay there to pick up the tickets.

The way I did it when I ran the drag night at Calder was like this..
They tell us when its time to race
we line up
every car turns right at the end of the track and goes back into the infield .
The LAST car in the left lane Turns left at the end of the track AND PICKS UP EVERYONES TIME SLIP and brings them back to the infield .
There they get handed out

That way we don't crowd the ticked booth and we are all back in the infield

Thats a great idea. Being a novice I'd want every timeslip as I wouldn't be able to tell what is a good run and what is a bad run. So is this whats going to happen tomorrow night or do we need to collect them individually?

Or can we go to the timing booth at the end of the night and collect the lot?

I am pretty sure I am going to have to pull out of this event. A tradie will most likley have to come to my house tomorrow night. : So i would rather give the spot away than have someone miss out. I was really looking forward to trying out the new tune too. If there is someone who wants to take my place please do. Sorry for the late notice. If no one else can take my place and money is an issue I am more than happy to pay.

Good luck guys.

trick_xd, give 1 and a half hours (maybe more) from geelong, traffic at 5-6pm can be pretty bad on fridays on the western ring.

Here is a map don't laugh I tried...
no:1 entry
no:2 credentials office
no:3 scrutineers shed
no:4 infield

Do steps 1, 2 and 3.....then from 3 to 4 follow the pink line to the infield.
Note the pink line left and right at the bottom of the race track, you go right if you want to come back around to the infield via the back of the race track and no speeding or will get booted...
If you want your time ticket you go left and use the return road this road goes past the time booth and you will be handed your ticket, then you make your way back around to the infield via the pink line....
.when travelling on the pink line you stay in the lane on the left closest to the track..
Depending on how quick your is if you look up when you go under the time boards you will see your time and mph..

Quckest way for you is to go through Bacchus Marsh then through Diggers Rest and onto the Calder and down to the track. You can meet up with me at the Marsh if you want, I should be there around 5.30pm.

Edit: This way will only take you about an hour from Geelong to the track, it takes me 50 minutes.

Hey guys. Last time i ran the car I was advised to drop the rear tyre pressure to help with traction (currently have it set on 40).

What PSI should I drop it down to? And is it advisable to do it locally and drive it there, or does Calder have an air pump we can use?

I'm going to try and get there early for the 6pm start. See if I can sneak a couple of runs before the crowd arrives.
