I think places like Thailand & Vietnam are the ones to watch. I believe that they are politically more stable & have better infrastructure than the Philippines.

Well that greatly irritates me.
Just yesterday i put $250 worth of bendix pads on the mrs fj cruiser. I live near the bendix plant and assumed they came out of there. The consumer shouldn't have to hunt to find out where stuffs actually made.
I also put penrite oil in everything, but i assume thats probably the same then

See how good their marketing is? They got everyone fooled.

Everyone in regional VIC is all BENDIX, BENDIX BENDIX, I WANT BENDIX under the impression it's still made in Australia, when the truth is hardly any of it still is.

Cheap Chinese **** with Bendix slapped on it at premium prices, it's a shame.

They have multiple formulas for their friction material, why not just make it meet a standard like ECE R90 rather than offer a bazillion types of friction material.

A friend of mine runs a car detailing business and bought a Great Wall a few years ago.

He was always talking about how great their Warranty backup was............it was back the dealers every 3 weeks or so with no complaints from them

Total = 5,976 (7.4%)

At a certain point it comes down to $$.

I wanted to beef up the power of my AVR by powering the main left and right speakers using an outboard power amp. I bought a 2 channel class A-B power amp with 175 watts per channel continuous RMS into 8 ohms at 20 hz to 20 khz (pretty beefy power given class A-B), with rave reviews for clean punchy power with wonderful seperation due to massive headroom.

American designed but made in China- cost me with postage from USA some $640.00 AU dollars.

To buy a similar unit built in Canada/USA/Europe etc I am looking at some $3,000.00 odd.

If there had been an apples for apples unit made in Australia for say $1,200 I would have gone AU made. But I am not spending 4 times more -despite the China factor to buy one built in Canada/USA/Europe.

Sucks Australia has no industry....

China’s LDV Deliver 9 shoots to second place in heavy-duty van sales race

Sales of heavy-duty vans have grown as demand for parcel deliveries reached new records during coronavirus lockdowns.

China’s LDV Deliver 9 has overtaken the Ford Transit, Volkswagen Crafter, and Renault Master to claim second place in the race for heavy-duty vans – after less than a year on sale.

While the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter maintained its sales lead, the LDV Deliver 9 is now the second-biggest selling van in the heavy duty class acccording to figures released by the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries.

New-car sales data for September 2021 shows there were 254 examples of the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter reported as sold last month, versus 239 examples of the LDV Deliver 9 (the second-best month for the model that has been on sale locally for less than 12 months).

The milestone for the largest Chinese van on sale in Australia comes as demand for delivery vans grows amid a spike in home shopping during coronavirus lockdowns.

Sales data shows demand for heavy duty delivery vans increased by 45 per cent last month – and up by 39 per cent in the first nine months of 2021 compared to the same period the previous year.

The LDV Deliver 9 capitalised on severe stock shortages affecting other popular models such as the Ford Transit Heavy (down 14 per cent in September), Volkswagen Crafter (down 29 per cent), and Renault Master (down 26 per cent).

Had a couple dealings with Indian companies in that sphere and never again, shifty ****s willing to stab you in the back at the first opportunity.

Chinese attitude to business is very customer focused, very willing to help out and get involved in our market, all my experiences there and with Taiwanese companies have been positive - Taiwan has been a bit shaky at the moment, probably due to their neighbor who is going the right way for a smacked bottom. Probably wouldn't trust China with intellectual property, but for 'commodities' they are on point.

Lead times ex USA are horrendous but thats because everything that is 'made in the USA' appears to be manufactured by their 51st state, Mexico because minimum wage is obviously far too high in the other 50 states where they live the life of luxury on $7.25 USD per hour + food stamps to survive even though they are working 3 jobs.

Spanish companies always on holidays and shutdowns and customer service is horrid, you have to keep on them until they finally do what you are asking, absolutely useless if you need more than just buying their product or want them to stick to their promised lead times, if they quote you a manufacture lead time, times it by two and that's probably closer to the money because it seems like they're always on Summer holidays, even though its Winter, Autumn or Spring - they must have 36 weeks paid annual leave over there and 150 public holidays.

Throw India in there too somewhere between because of their willingness to stab you in the back.

Tesla have been since early this year. Think from March all cars have been Chinese built (not a JV though).

I believe stock levels may help contribute to this. The Ford dealer I go to quickly replaced their used car lot with a GWM/ Haval and its crammed with cars whilst the larger Ford side is near empty

I don't know how long LDVs have been on the market, but colleagues parents bought one (new) and it's already destroyed an engine.

This is what people don't seem to grasp.
Conceptually, it's easy to say "just grab a German or Toyota product, and copy it" but in practice it doesn't work that way.
Why are German Cars better engineered and built than Italian Cars? Why are Japanese better than Korean?
Why do Americans still lag behind both Europe and Japan?
Why were our beloved Aussie cars (and I still love them passionately) decidedly agricultural?

Not much difference between Japanese and Korean cars nowadays according to the latest JD powers initial quality surveys (see attached), same progression will happen with the Chinese given enough time.

Might be a dictatorship, at least they have a plan they're acting on - they have some of the best manufacturing/technology in the modern world now.
So much so that until recently, the Yanks trusted them for most of there their Silicon chips...

I’m a member on FB of the Jolion owners club, there are plenty of stoked owners on there. Most negatives are infotainment based, “how do I switch on/off X feature” as their menus aren’t always logical.
One Jolion owner had 3 electrical issues in the first week (locks etc), the dealer gave them a loaner and ordered them a brand new car. I can only hope the faulty one doesn’t make its way onto to used car market. So the brand is giving customer service a red hot go.
I’ll probably buy a new LDV van in the next 18mos, I just can’t reconcile spending 25-35k on a 5-10yo Hiace with over 200k on it, when a new G10 is $32k with stupid low finance rates.

It's our job as car enthusiasts to make sure everyone knows that these $$hit brands are Chinese and that if we keep buying them the other brands will leave and all we will have have is this Chinese ****. They do the same thing everywhere. Sell them for nothing until the others can't compete and then push the price up once the others leave. I'm stuffed if I'm driving any Chinese ****.
