lol yeah it's a shame i was really looking forward to going too. Another idea i've been throwing around, how about we get a few guys to head to Lakeside for a sprint? $190 bit expensive i know but full day on track seems worth it to me. Or QR for $120 but that place is boring compared to Lakeside

Dont worry Josh, I'm still coming, so you wont be completely alone :P

Track day sounds fun, but I'd have to just about overhaul the whole car, and lower it, lol.

Country Pack suspension, shagged bushes, shagged cheapie shocks, probably shagged balljoints, shagged brakes, 15" wheels, plus an auto transmission, does not make an ideal racecar! :P should be alright down the drag strip, but give it some corners and it rolls over and plays dead.

I can slide mine around no probs, although Im aware a track day isnt about that. To be honest, Id probably rather the auto on the track, as well as at the drags over a manual. I know which would last longer.

Is it lowered? Does it have aftermarket alloys? Does it have any sort of body kit?

If you've got any of those, your car will look less stock than mine :P so dont stress. Mine is externally (and largely internally) a bog stock Falcon Futura. Regency Red Futura, with factory options, Futura alloys, etc.. looks like what your grandpa would drive :P Its going to look so rediculous speeding down the strip.

I am keen for a run too, just have to fill the AU up with premium and octane booster so it doesnt ping its nuts off like its doing at the moment, might need to find some skid tyres too.

Lowered by an inch, nothing drastic. Has a set of 18" speedy's and a GT kit. You'll see it and most likely hear it being it has a diff drop 3" straight through exhaust.
I will see you there none the less . Be there with a bloke in a Brownish Gold RX-7. MON574 numberplates.
Cheers.

Well, you guys should all stop complaining. Mine is Mostly blue, with black front 1/4's complete with red over spray, a srcatched bonnet and badly scraped front and rear bumpers. I dont even have hubcaps, stockos are the go for me, lol. And its stock height. Im guessing Ill save some credibility rattling off mid 14's all night.

Gates usually open around 4:30, racing from 5. Lanes generally close at 9:30 for last runs.

Heh, and I've been told 5:30 for wednesdays, lol.. ah well, we should be able to get in around that time at least.

hsv.eta - Yeah I have a P6 LTD the Silver Monarch edition. It has a 351 Cleveland with the 4 bolt mains and stronger crank. Its basically a detuned GT engine. Strangled by emissions control devices, it made 220Hp from the factory, but I'll be rebuilding it, and hoping to make around 300Hp, anything over that is a bonus.

Wednesday Events

Gates open at 5.30pm and runs commence at 6pm

Youd be correct Lyndsay, which is weird, Ive always been let in at 4:30, and runs start at 5. Oh well, Ill go early anyway, get there around 4:30, change wheels, and fill out my paperwork, make sure everything is right and let the car cool down.

I dont think Ill be bringing my trailer now, as there is only three of us going, Ill just throw the spares up in the stands with the wifey.

I have an oil leak (5-8cm circle after being parked overnight) are they likely to notice/care about a small leak like that?

Degrease it before you leave, take a rag and wipe it over at the gate.

Will do. I've got a feeling the sump needs to be replaced. The drain hole was helicoiled years ago by Ford (poorly, about 2 rings max) and rehelicoiled end of last year, a good job, but its leaking from the sump bolt again after the oil change I did a week ago. I really dont want to tighten it any more than I have, I'll see how it goes over the next little while, just hoping it doesnt cause any issues at the strip :P

Also, I will more than likely drag a friend of mine out with me. He'll be driving his Turbo Megasquirt EFI equipped series 2 RX-7. I've seen this thing in action, and its a pretty quick car. I know its not an AU but hey, its hard not to appreciate a well engineered homegrown car.
