I wouldn't be so sure. Probably a repost, but for those of you that haven't seen the Supra vs RX-7 vs Evo, it's a cool video.

I can put this to bed as i'm probably the only person who has dragged one at the lights. Friday night moving through traffic when I spot one of the development mules going across the James Harrison bridge here in Geelong. I caught up to him and had a close look at it. It was a Lightning Strike Ghia, had the 18 inch wheels sprayed black, twin exhaust tips but still had the car bra on trying to conceal the bonnet vent. I was driving my rent a car Nissan Maxima, as you may be aware my XR8 was stolen last week and this was provided by RACV insurance. Further down Latrobe Terrace I ended up next to him at the lights. When they went green I moved off pretty quickly and then floored it. He pretty much went at the same time and he couldn't gain on me to 100 when I backed off. If a Turbo Territory can't real in a 170 odd kw Maxima then how the hell can it out run an F6. It will weight 2150kg+ and with only 245kw it will have a power to weight ratio similar to an XR6 NA. Sorry to burst your bubble but this is just crap.
Maybe the myth that rentals go faster is true.

Who knows??? I've had a few rental Maximas and they were all quite different. My most recent one sounded rough as guts but had some serious urge to it. Earlier ones were doze-mobiles.

By the way, where are you getting all these figures?
I have a life, thankyou very much.

For figures like these, weight etc... http://www.carsales.com.au

Then go to research cars. It's pretty handy.

if the AWD Territory goes slower than an XT sedan (and maybe a RWD Territory too) then that sort of speaks for itself really

but think of all the sets of front tyres you'd fry though :

I haven't seen it been wrong that much yet. I know for a fact the Typhoon was 1775kg manual, and the ZF is 30kg heavier... 1805kg.

The HSV V8 Coupe's have been 1670kg since... they came out. And the sedans have been 1696kg for a long time too, all written on carsales. It says the E55 AMG, for example, is 1835kg, which it is, etc, etc, etc.

Reasonably definitive answer from DRA as shown below. Even with the assistance of AWD and the 4.11 rear end the Territory Turbo isn't playing in the same park.

The raw numbers translate to a 13.48 for the Typhoon (and we've seen close to that) and a 14.17 for the Turbo Territory.

Cheers
Russ

Terry Turbo with a (Theoretical) 14.17 with a good consistant runs possible with Auto and AWD, you would almost consider that ideal... In the real world it may beat a F6.....

Wait until you see a Cayenne Turbo driving soccer mum. I have. Something's scary about seeing such a person piloting a 2355kg vehicle capable of high 12 sec 1/4's and over 260km/h.

If BA XR6 Turbos are running around 14.1 how is a Turbo Territory with around 300kg extra in weight going to run similar times. It doesn't have the 270 engine from the F6, just the normal 245 XRT engine. I'd say it would only run high 14's on a good day. What I saw on Friday at the lights didn't impress me at all, and he was definately having a go, just how hard he was trying is the question that can't be answered without talking to the driver. He should have walked all over the Maxima.

I too have rented the Nissan Maxima's from Hertz. Pretty quick. I dragged and beat a VT Series 1 50litre SS in one. I would pick the NIssan to be a 7 second and 15 dead car.

I had a look at the specs today, 170kw and only 1480kgs. No wonder they feel quite lively, they weigh around 200kg lighter than a BA, with a detuned 350Z motor. Apart from that I have to say FWD sucks. How anyone can think FWD is better than RWD is beyond me. Why would you want the steering wheel twitching in your hands as you accelerate.

I blew off a Ferrari today, I knew the driver was giving it all he had by the colour of his knuckles _

Sorry guys, street drags don't count. Want to prove something, take it to the drags & then tell us what you & the other guy did.

I've lost count how many times I've fooled the fool next to me.

Hey Steffo, carsales.com is OK for weight stats but iv'e found a lot of them tend to be wrong if you cross check them against weights found on redbook.com and drive.com. Should be taken with a grain of salt.
