A real but second hand one. I have some good contacts to source the right item. I figure it is best to spend the money just once and if it doesn't work out it will be worth what I paid for it. I also think the way to nurture her talent is with the best equipment available, not with toys.

I bought 2 of these a while ago and they work ok. The software is a ***** to get used to, but using Audacity as well, can fix it a bit better. You won't get a sound from a normal mic plugged into the sound card as it needs a pre-amp to boost the signal to it.

That was a good choice. I've got a Samson CO1U (usb condenser mic) and for the price, it sounds very good.

Edit: make sure you go into your recording device settings on your laptop and ensure the mic is recording at 48KHz rather than 44.1KHz. The sound quality will be much better that way

Well I recently pulled my Cole Clark FL2AC acoustic out from under my bed and took it up to Broome with me to have a bit of a play while on holidays...only to notice a crack in it when I pulled it out of the case when I got there. Turns out it's going to cost around $200 to fix the crack by a CC specialist repairer...lame.

I've been really disheartened with this guitar for the last few years as it's developed a buzz that no-one could figure out the cause of. My sister took the guitar in to get checked out (about the crack) to some people she knows and trusts and they reckon it needs a new nut and bridge saddle and the truss rod needs adjusting...apparently there's a bow in the neck. Their thoughts are that it's the bridge, nut and truss rod that's causing the buzz. So all up it's going to cost $325+ and take at least a month. To be honest though, if they manage to fix the buzz then I'll be ecstatic, as it really stands out in recordings and really ruined it for me. Plus I'd be looking at north of $2k to replace the guitar with the current equivalent...so $325 doesn't sound toooo bad in comparison haha.

Looking forward to moving house hopefully in the next couple of months and being able to set my studio up and start messing around again. I haven't recorded anything really since late 2012, so I'm itching to get creative again!

May have had a few beers this arvo and pulled the trigger on a guitar I'd spotted on eBay that I didn't need, but thought would be cool to have up on site...$700ish later...oops...

It's a 3/4 scale Ibanez RGM55 Mikro with Dimarzio pickups (air Norton in the neck and tone zone in the bridge). This particular model isn't made anymore and is much nicer and gets much better reviews than any of the other 3/4 scale guitar available currently. I tried buying a cheap electric guitar for site once and just couldn't bring myself to do it, they played terribly and felt horrible. So I figured no point spending $300 on one of the other crappy 3/4 scale guitars if I'm not going to enjoy playing it.

It's a manufacturer refurbished unit that had part of the headstock resurfaced along the edge, but is otherwise in as new mint condition. Retail on them was $826USD and I grabbed it for $429USD plus $99USD shipping.

The little Maton Diesel acoustic is the best sounding miniature I've ever heard, but I'm very fond of Ibanez, nice pickup man

Cheers Jim. This will be the first electric Ibanez I will have owned. The RG series are pretty decent guitars from everything I've ever heard and played. I haven't played one of the mini Matons, but I'm yet to play a mini acoustic that I liked...they never sound full enough, always sound lacking to me. Serve a purpose though I guess.

I've already got a Vox Tonelab LE multi effects pedal in the cupboard up on site from when I took one of my other guitars up there (until I realised I actually really liked it for heavier stuff, so took it home for recording), so having a 3/4 scale electric will give me much more versatility with respects to what I can play and mess around with on site.

Here's a review of the guitar with some sounds, pretty impressive for a small scale guitar I reckon.

New 3/4 guitar I bought turned up today. Took it to the shop to get a setup done and everything checked over. Dude at the shop reckoned it screams and that it plays really well...after hearing him play it and then spending a good few hours playing it this arvo myself, I'd be inclined to agree.

Cheap and nasty guitars tend to feel horrible and aren't nice to play, but this thing feels great, hence I opted to spend a little more on this older, better model.

Plays really nicely and sounds unreal, and not just for a little guitar, I'm actually pretty stoked with it as a guitar sound in general. Definitely giving me some motivation to get back into playing regularly.

My 6 year old has an Epiphone Express 3/4 (SG shape) and it is the best 3/4 i've played. (not tried the ibanez like yours though). They also don't make em anymore and had to buy it from Singapore.

It is hard to find a decent 3/4, when my young bloke was 4 we got him a squire mini and it is an appalling guitar, but only 150 bucks so was expected really. Though he did his first live performance on the mini when he was 5 he did OK so got the Epiphone to keep him motivated.
