OK, now you've got me wondering. I tried fitting the BA XR8 brakes onto my IRS AU1 sedan the other week and found that the rear calliper housing dragged on the disc. Is there much gap on yours? Was there a spacer you had to use, or was it literally just straight swap?

I have everything ready to go for mine, and found out today (depsite earlier advice telling me otherwise) that I6 and V8 swaybars are the same, right up to BF, I believe.

The only thing that may be a bit tricky is the chassis mounts for the AU2 swaybar. Mine didn't come with bolts, and I doubt the mounting holes are in the chassis rails, so that should be fun! I'll be fitting mine up next week - just waiting on new wheel bearings to turn up.

There on a ute, came of a BF Typhoon straight forward bolt up no spacer needed only exception is needing a larger dust shield to clear new caliper if you want a dust sheild back on
Chassis mounts for front sway bar are the same only thing that changes is the bush for different diameter bars and of course the connection to the lower control arms

Is that the metal shield that goes on top of the disc, then the wheel goes on? None on mine anyway.

Any chance of getting a picture of the back of the calliper to see how it bolts up? I may have to have another look at mine tomorrow.

No ute runs a dust shield behind rotor as well

Thanks. While you're at it, don't suppose you have any idea about what size bolts hold the front callipers on? Mine didn't come with any, and I don't even know what size and pitch the thread is!

Try the ford wrecker in campeltown. Thats where all my parts came from and the calipers look like new.

I wouldn't even attempt to tow with the AU1 brakes to be honest. Fortunately the XR never has and never will have a tow bar. Its just not set up for towing.

I did until i got the upgrade done. And damn, you would stand on them and wait for something to happen. If the AC was on there was no chance of pulling up quick if you had to. But money well spent i reckon. Its good to go fast but you also need to be able to pull up quick as well.

When I used to tow our 1.6-ish tonne boat, my mates always said that while I don't speed, I used to sit on the speed limit, up hill, down hill and around corners. In fact my brother in law reckons we got to the coast faster towing the boat, than he would've with just the family. Nothing dangerous about it, but this was with slotted rotors, no chance of doing that with standard AU1 brakes - in fact the first trip I towed the boat was the trigger for me upgrading the brakes. Burning brakes do not work well travelling down the Clyde Mountain.

for all my conversion parts from S1 to S2+ was $1000 then $400 for the slotted rotors and better pads. But i'm not entirely sure on calipers by themselves my brake bloke organised all the parts.

Yeh even with the trailor you still get up it the same it doesnt slow you down too much these days.

Hey JC, how did you paint the calipers? mine are in serious need of a new paint job... they have some red already on there flaking off but i wanna change the colour.. what sort of prep work did you do etc?
