The 350Z is not fast when you compare it with the cars Nissan used to produce. The R-Series GT-R's (R32, R33, R34), even in their slowest guise, the basic stock R33 GT-R, the heaviest and slowest GT-R model, would rape the fastest stock 350Z sideways.

Now forgive me, but I'll quote the most widely regurgitated R33 GT-R figures on the internet... 100km/h in 5.3 seconds, 1/4 mile in 13.3 seconds. The best stock 350Z time you posted was a 13.77, and .47 is quite a bit in a drag race. Plus around a track, no contest. (I'm sure the R33 can probably run better in real life, as can the 350, but the gap would be clear) So, in the context of comparing the cars they used to make to the cars they make today, yes, the 350Z is not fast. Japan does still make very fast cars though... Evo9 and STi.

Now what's a purpose built 6 second drag car got to do with anything? If you want to compare things like that, I can always bring up much, much, much faster V8 cars. Of course that 350Z and most other drag cars that fast share little to nothing in common with their road going counterparts. But if you want to compare meaningless things like that... John Force's Mustang is 2 sec faster then that Nissan. Whooptie doo.

Now don't get me wrong. I love the later model R-Series Skylines (R31 coupes, and just about every R32-R34). I like, ney, love the RB26DETT. But I don't like it in a 1960's Mustang.

good motor if you like that sorta thing. Nah screw it...i can't be nice about this...what the hell are these guys thinking?????nissan motor? volk wheels, milo tin muffler? It is indeed a sad day. nobody is gonna want that car over "eleanor" except for the rice freaks. no ИИИИy little wine and bov beat a blown 8, no way, no how!!!

I went and watched the movie a couple of weeks ago and was shocked to say the least. A few people said that as a Ford fan I would not be unhappy with what they do with a Mustang, I thought they may of crashed it or something, but they did worse, they riced the old girl, that is just ****ed up!!!!

very good point there Holden claim as they own well that what most of them are doing, but when there a switch between the car then people whingy

Just a note this movie isnt about how fast you go straight like the previous movie its about how to take corners. I to was shock when i saw the nissan going to the mustang i felt sorry for both cars. Both the cars were use in the wrong way. The slivia should stay in its home and the Mustang all i could say "what the hell was it doing in japan??" it shouldnt be there since the actual japan cars put more horsepower than the oversea verisions

Feel so sorry for the sliverlady and mustang which was in the movie

Hmm This thread has been interesting - As much as the mustang was a muscle car I do believe there were 6 cyl version made (even 4cyls? I thought I heard that at one stage), now the RB26DETT would crush one of those...

Also before everyone thinks that Japan has backed off the performance car scene you will be in for a suprise. Remember the old GTR was taken out of production due to emissions problems, so nissan had to make a Hi-po engine that would meet the new requirements. This takes time, but they did it.

New GTR has been confirmed for production and Nissan Aus is competing to get them into the country relatively quickly - expect them here in the next 18months.

Also Lexus/Toyota is building a V10 supercar...(It has been seen in testing already)

What I don't understand in the movie is, at the end, when they do the final race thing why does the other one have to leave down? why don't they just stay away from each other? and when then the Han and the other dude are racing away from the physcho asian, why do they drift? why don't they just drive straight they'd get away alot faster.

entertaining though, it is a light hearted movie after all, not a documentary. i questioned a lot of the scenes too, but all in all i enjoyed watching it!
