An Aussie icon is what I said.

I suppose Jimmy Barnes isn't an Aussie either as he was born in Scotland

Why don't you stick to the topic

Or how about an XD, with an 80's family going on vacation, young kids in the back, camera centers on one of the kids.

The scene then morphs into that same kid all grown up, driving an FG falcon, going on vacation with his own young family in the back.

Falcon...... iconically Australian.

I liked it, it hit a target with my mum. She loves Farnsy, wants a Focus and is ordering a ST. Now Im singing this song and usually it takes 12 beers before this tune gets rolled out.

i suppose technically correct not being born here,but...........,
he went to school here,
did an apprenticeship as a plumber here,
found his darling and got married here,
had kids and bought his family up here,
worked and made his fortune here,
52 years later........John is still here !
if he`s not Australian......... i don`t know what is.

And the Ford Motor Company is American and the Falcon was born in 1959 in Detroit. Australians love to claim things that aren't ours because we're desperate for acknowledgement.

I think it's unfair to call people haters who don't like it. That would be implying I hate every Ford advert and criticise them all the time. So far from the truth. I loved the toad (or was it frog) ad, I think it hit the nail on the head.

Also I loved this ad:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5yfT5PgF1dE

It made me want to go out and buy a Ford Territory Turbo. But I know a lot of people hated it, and thought it was wrong, but I suppose they're haters too. Mind you, when you talk to people, they know the ad, so I guess in a way it builds the brand. Some could argue that it may be negative brand awareness, but negative brand awareness isn't nessecarily bad brand awareness.

Advertising is aimed at a market, like I said in my original post, if it hits that market, they've done a good job. But it didn't reach me, but looking at the ad, I'm not the market they're chasing. Nor, I suspect are a lot of people here.

Still, whenever they want to sell me a falcon, bring me a falcon ad.

Just saw it on tv about an hour ago for the first time think it's great, and I'm another one with a farnsy lover of a mother and she also loved the ad. But to me it leaves me with one question...

The guy is 63, looks old, not one of the best looking singers around but I bet if he was on the road tomorrow women of all ages would be throwing underwear at him. The guy is a master, and i wish I could learn his ways.

Good to see the technology available here finally.
LOL at all the naive anti-MS comments.
Nothing wrong with MicroSoft. They are making leaps and bounds technology wise. And are still the biggest and most dependable. Some dupes would prefer Apple I suspect. And would then have to trade in their car when apple decides to change compatibility to force their customers to purchase all new accessories, and technology.

Well they do employ people here. And I would argue that the Falcon has been built and developed here long enough to be considered a truly unique Australian car. I believe the FG is a little different to the XK. Slightly anyway.

I gotta admit I'm into all the crap that distracts you from driving the car, and this Ford Sync thing would be a big selling point for me.

I didn't like the ad too much though, I reckon they should do some funny "superbowl" type ads, like these two:

Kia Optima sleep ad:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vnbm_x8bL7Q

Green police:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NxTNZUhesZk

Need more humour, like beers ads

These ads don't really show anything about the product, but you remember what they are for.

Showroom at local ford dealer and my GF is being shown Sync - after the sales lady tried over five times to tune the radio by voice I just said Fn Microsoft and "Easier to press the button...'

Ad is a shocker. Sorry. No link to any other product, no consistency in the brand. What Ford should do is build their brand around the massive market advantage they have - the quality of the drive. Class leading cars in every segment yet no advertising on that key strength.

A female friend of mine that's 20 is looking at getting a new vehicle, probably a Mazda 3, but she said this "what about that ford car where you can speak to the sound system? I'd like that..."
She doesn't know much about cars in general, but it got her attention.
Then it was my job to talk about performance, reliability, fuel economy on TDCi fiesta's and focus's.
My point is majority of people are as knowledgable as she is, she saw the ad, saw the ford logo, and it made her think about it. Don't know if Mazda's have this she said.
She also likes the parking by itself feature on the focus as well. She saw the ad for that as well.
98% of the population will relate to this commercial because their not as in the know as us ford enthusiasts are. On another note 98% of the population can relate to this song by old Johnny.
That's my 2c's worth..

Agree 100% mate.

For me the "have you driven a Ford.... lately?" was the best IMO

I think the 'basic' voice recognition interface in my WS Fiesta is fantastic. Yeah it glitches every once in a while, but who's smartphone/tablet/laptop DOESN'T wig out every so often? The rest of the car is rock solid.

I recently got the 4S with this feature and when in the car, I use it all the time. Saves looking through the phonebook when I want to ring someone. Works sweet through the bluetooth.

My daughter uses the voice recognition in her new LW Focus all the time and loves it.The Bluetooth and all the other tech is what swayed her away from the VW Golf. She is nearly 19 and the ad campaign hits the spot with her.

My XJR has voice, and it covers just about everything in the car (Phone, Nav, Audio, Climate, Touchscreen), works well, not bad for 10 year old tech.

As mentioned i drove a 2012 Focus earlier this year and the voice was pretty crap, might have something to do with speaking German with an Aussie accent though...
