Yup. So she's on P's (or quivalent if you have something different up there).. In that case, and she's had prior driving experience, i'd let her drive.

If it was learners etc I would have said not to bother IMO.. As I found learning was pointless when driving on relativelly straight roads at 100k's (ie freeways).

I say the best idea if she know how to control the speed of the car is to prepare her in long distance drive around suburbs and areas that usually take like an hour to get and get her to forcus on the road, get her to do that a lot of the time before taking the trip that when drive the xr8 will able to handle the long distance and have experience without having to fail to focus what at hand.

Always good short long trip does the trick i tell that to my friends

I think you should let her drive it on two conditions...

1) she must be a competent driver and;

2) she doesn't use all 260Kw of the BOSS!

You will be in car, take several stops toilet breaks etc...
I thought my sons on private road to zig zag so they learnt how to catch it and realise you just can't steer it.... She'll do fine, in fact a tight handling car like an XR is possibly better... Young need this driving experience, that's half the trouble. They learn in a cocoon...They need to learn ALL facets of driving....

I have worked as a driving instructor, be pro-active with your instruction, tell her what you want her to do a long way before she needs to do it, don't be re-active. Don't tell her after she should have done it.

What risk!, most serious accidents don't happen on straight highways (only 5% of the total). Sure its at high speed but if its dual highway there are no traffic lights and very few ricer ******* trying to drag off at the lights. In any case you'll be in the car and will be able to see what sort of driver she is.
Just make sure she understands that this is a special privilege, that she has to earn your trust. Let her and you experience the joy of a daughter growing up.

I suppose if you get her used to the car (to a certain extent, you dont want her too comfortable, she will never want to leave it! and then she will bug you for drives all the time) it will make it slightly better. Maybe my opinion is biased because i wouldnt let anyone else drive my car, and my parents only just started letting me drive their's... Plus i drive a XR8... :Up_to_som

I will be on the GC in december, but will get there via Mr Qantas.....

This just for you. It doent look quite as good as from today.... I had a rather large woman in a NT government land criuser do about 5 K worth of mods to the rear end...... Bugger!!!

You got it.... At least they are insured. It wouldn't matter anyway, my insurance company will bat for me..... Apparently thet were in a hurry. Shame I was in front of them......
