From fiance Michael Clarke's Range Rover

Bingle was trying to answer questions surrounding the mysterious theft of her 2008-model Vantage just hours after it was found parked in a neighbouring suburb.

On Thursday the carmaker declared no Aston Martin had ever been stolen without the key.

"Last night [Thursday] Michael realised he had left a spare set of Aston Martin keys in the glove box of his Range Rover," Bingle said yesterday.

"The Range Rover was broken into, so we believe [thieves] have taken the keys and stolen the Aston Martin."

While at the Icebergs New Year's Day party in Bondi with Clarke, the 22-year-old remained cagey about how the coupe had vanished and refused to reveal if she planned to keep the supercar.

"We're not sure what we'll do - let's get it back first," she said.

Before heading to Icebergs the couple spoke with police after the car was found abandoned in a cul-de-sac at a South Coogee housing estate late on New Year's Eve.

While the Aston Martin usually turns heads, it was barely noticed by residents of Iluka Place who said it was locked up, parked perfectly and had hardly a scratch.

Police yesterday confirmed that the fraud squad would investigate the theft.
HE drives the RANGE ROVER and SHE drives the ASTON MARTIN??!! HMM.....Something tells me Mr Clarke has his balls in Miss Bingles purse!

I wouldn’t be surprised if the whole ‘Aston ownership’ thing is just a publicity stunt of some sort.

Let’s face it. The bimbo wouldn’t know one end of a car from another and her boyfriend isn’t exactly a known car enthusiast, so why did he buy her an Aston?

The paparazzi probably wouldn’t care if she drove around in a convertible 3 series or SLK, I mean, these cars are a dime a dozen over there way. By Clarke giving the bimbo a car like this has guaranteed that they stay in the media spotlight. Smart thinking if that’s your thing. I mean, before all of this happened, every time any tabloid journo would mention either one of them, they always end up mentioning the car, bingo. I’d tend to think that this car was an idea dreamed up by Clarke’s manager and the people from Aston, although I could be wrong.

An Aston isn’t the type of car that you buy because you can’t afford something better or just because it was in the showroom and they offered you a reasonable deal on it.

From what I can figure out, cars like this are ‘usually’ purchased by people because they truly love the cars, not because they will look good pulling up outside some 'exclusive' coffee shop in Double Bay.

Another thing is many of the people I know who are worth serious amounts of money, generally don’t go looking for ways to show everyone how much they’re worth. The ones who do are in a ‘some’ cases, two bob millionaires. Like many here, I know some people who have exotic cars, but they genuinely love the cars, not the image that goes with them.

If these two people truly love the car, the last thing they would be considering is getting rid of it. Just goes to show that they got the publicity out of it and now that it’s turning bad, they want it gone.

Like I said in an earlier post, I couldn’t care less about these two people, however, I’d love to see them go before a court of law in the same way any of us would if it’s proven that some dodgy business has gone on.

of course it is - she is a celebrity and if a celebrity does not get seen or written about or parts in movies etc. their star fades

having said that my wife does not care about cars - but if i gave her an aston, she would be pretty happy about it
one it says, "we are so wealthy, we do not need to conform" and it says it with great conviction
and two, regardless of what interests you have, it is a very nice looking car. most on here know that guys buy with their hearts, not heads, so maybe michael bought it because it looked/went/sounded so good

Looking at the company she's apparently been keeping, I'd say that this looks like the beginning of the end...

From the link above;

"Police fear a patron of one of the clubs Bingle is known to frequent may have been involved in the theft.

While not suspected of any links to the theft of the car Bingle's friends in the Cross include John Ibrahim and the Freeman brothers."

One is good at cricket / One is a representative - both milk the celebrity cash cow and earn way too much for the skills they have < some people aspire to do the same/ some despise it. However that is the society we now live in, so be it.

Maybe a dodgy lifestyle has lead to some dodgy friends.

Dont trust everything you read or hear in the media. the media twist the story to suit there needs.

Maybe just maybe someone wanted to drive the aston and it was an easy steal.

I keep keys in my work car for my xr8 so that is not a rare thing.

From the sounds of her friends (if they are her friends) they have enough money to buy any car they want.

Also why hate someone for having a nice car? i dont hate my neighbour for having a 355 fazza. i would have a db9 if i had those sorts of funds

people gotta get their kicks somehow, lara and michael have a good life and all people do is bag them. As far as I see, I don't know them, they have no impact on me or my life and bagging them would not benefit me at all. Can't see why people are.

There have been a couple of strange stories about Bingle in the last 3 months. Maybe I've been reading between the lines too much but I reckon the press can smell blood in the water for these 2 and just waiting for a Tiger Woods-esque public implosion.

Seems strange that someone would steal a AM for a joyride, but not burn it out or sell it.

like i said this is dodgy and i'm surprised its coming out in the media .

The thing is studio apartments there and in neighbouring suburbs (Potts Point, Elizabeth bay, Rushcutters Bay and Edgecliff) are worth more than 5 bedroom two story mansions at Campbelltown.

I've been there, and still go there on occasions and have no problem teling my Mum (in fact was there with a few friends just before Xmas having dinner) ...Some good restaurants up that way. I ahve a few friends living there....but its not for me thats why i choose to live in the Shire

Back on topic, as to the article where the police say they have devoted lots of resources to this case - when I reported my XD Fairmont stolen from outside my apartment at Balmain in the mid 80's the cops were'nt that interested at all.

Probably because something doesn't quite add up.

I'm speculating but if your XD was worth $250k, you reported it stolen and something smelled a little fishy, I'm sure resources would be devoted to working out why, as well.

If you put a $250k claim in for a stolen XD you can bet something would smell fishy!

Well, this just goes to show that money cay buy your way out of anything…

Authorities now believe the theft was "opportunistic", most likely carried out by a team of hustling street kids.
The 2008-model Vantage V8 was recovered with minor damage on New Year's Eve.
Police believe the perpetrators dumped the vehicle after it ran out of petrol.
"There's no conspiracy - it was just an opportunistic break and enter," the officer said.
Forensic tests and DNA lifted from the Aston Martin's doors and steering wheel are still being analysed.
Imagine having enough money to be able to get the cops to say this?

I’d love to see the shape of the coat hanger the ‘opportunistic’ street kids used to get the Aston started.

Let’s face it. An opportunistic thief wouldn’t have a set of keys, would they?

Did the police take into account the ramifications of their findings? The poor people from Aston Martin are going to have to completely re design their ignition systems to prevent hustling street kids from stealing them. :

Absolute crap. :hihi:

As posted earlier, they used the spare set of keys for the Aston, stolen from the couples other vehicle. Not rocket science to start an Aston Martin with keys.
