Actually, I think the Fusion V6 AWD would be a vehicle a lot of people would enjoy,
Mondeo sized, heaps of grunt, plenty of grip and about Falcon I-6's weight. I could imagine that vehicle with a 300 hp 3.7 V6 or even better, the V6 Ecoboost... |

Taurus a lot worst than Falcon FG to be honest.
Steering, handling, suspension, are soft, very american car. Feels solid but Falcon FAAARRRRR better than Taurus. V6 engine but no torque at all, from 30MPH-60/70MPH are soo long, but falcon FG was very fast and torquey. Last december I went from LA to SF using that car. And I was really disappointing with the car(from what I knew falcon-taurus same chassis? CMIIW) But overall with $26,000 in US price tag, I will take that car. Cheap, very good fuel econ 1L:12-13KM, and still ride like a softer ride of Merc. Thanks |

Were you asking if Falcon and Taurus share the same chassis? If so, the answer is no. Taurus uses the Ford D3 platform while the Falcon's platform is currently known as E8...? |

Interesting...
I like the new Taurus SHO. It actually looks like a 21st Century Crown Victoria.

whats the bet those headlights will be identical to the new falc? Bring across Taurus styling elements to the Falcon to limit the impact once they dump falc and import the T

That's what I started thinking when I saw the pics. I would say the Falcon (FG2) is gonna look very similar.

I can see a little mustang style in the 2013 Taurus.
So in 2013 when Falcon, Taurus becomes one, and mustang becomes the two door variation, people will be able to notice the similarities with the then current models and not be as shocked. Taurus is Better because It has SYNC.™

im not due for a new car for another 4 years, however with the current ford line up, it would be a g6e or fpv gs... i guess ill see what happens then, if there is no falcon to pick from, i'll just go to the last ones available as second hand..

I don't think this has introduced any styling hints of the next falcon at all.

Just thought i'd compare the specs of the 2 base models
Base model XT FG --- Base model Taurus Weight: 1704kg --- 1821kg Max Power (Kw): 195kW @ 6000rpm --- 196kW @ 6250rpm Max. Torque: 391Nm @ 3250rpm --- 337nm @ 4500rpm Length (mm): 4955mm --- 5153mm Width (mm): 1869mm --- 1935mm Height (mm): 1453mm --- 1541mm Fuel Consumption City(l/100km): 9.9L/100km --- 13.0L/100km Highway (l/100km): Not found --- 8.4/100km Wheel Base (mm): 2838mm --- 2867mm Engine: 4.0Litre (3984cc)Inline 6 --- 3.5-litre V6 Duratec Power to Weight Ratio (kW/kg): 8.74:1 kW/kg --- 9.29:1 kW/kg This is comparing all the specs that i could find (couldn't find highway comsumption of falcon) I really can't see how the Taurus is better in any way i'll try to do one of these of the top of the range preformance models in the coming days |

Since when is Falcon's city fuel average 9.9L/100km?
Falcons Urban consumption is 13.8L/100km according to Ford.com.au Its overall average is 9.9L/100km Anyway fuel economy standards between Oz and US are different.

They could make the Falcon the next global largey. And the Taurus in it's current layout could become some futile Ford attempt at a BMW X6 competitor/under-cutter. Especially with those tall lines.

Next global large car is set, thats CD4. Taurus and Falcon will only ever be a sideshow to that.

AWD is important to countries with snow. We have that tech here with Terri. So globally Ford has the stuff to play it big in the world market already with their cheap/efficient Mondeo/Fusion cars. But in the class above... Falcon is the only serious car worth considering to take to further heights. Or just not bother with large cars at all. They way they could flog a few more SUV's here and there. Thing is... there is still lots of confusion in the empire about how and where they're gonna go, and with what. So 'One Ford' is a bit of a hindrance in that regard, as you really have to sit down and think about the future. But I'd be more inclined to think that anything that does go global will more likely be of a design from the US... at that's just the way they go. It may be a global car company... but it's still American.
