Seriously...

To be an proper "Ford Person" i reckon your first car had to be a Ford and you need own one currently (daily driver or weekender).

Someone that switches over because the brand bettered another in a certain class or they had to drive it cos Uncle Warren vomited in the back and no one wanted it probably earn different monikers... Ford By Assessment, or say Ford By Force for example.

when i was younger, my aunty had an xt falcon. v8, unsure of what engine cc. but it was so cool looking and sounding. and when i was about 7-8 years old, craig lowndes was racing the 000 AU V8SC. with the wicked black on silver colour scheme and those menacing green headlights. ever since that moment ive wanted an AU, and when i got enough money i bought one. plus, theres so many ****wits in my area with POS vk-vl commos and skylines. they drive my hatred for holden and ricers lol.

When you own an RS, like I do, nothing else matters, not even other Fords

my dad was always into fords.

The first impression i had of cars was a XC GS Falcon 302 Auto. I was a little kid and always liked the sound and red colour.

I always say this, but EF, lol.

Especially when you put a VR next to an EF and remember that the VR is based on an Opel (good company yeah, but not Australian).

Mmm I can see your point. The EF was absolutely lightyears ahead of the VR/VS Holden and it probably made a few people switch sides over the years. Having spent plenty of time in both, there is no way you would pick the VS over an EF or EL.

Plenty of people bought vr/vs over ef/el. in my opinion the ef/el was better but they were the most evenly matched holden/ford series

In what ways, I'm curious? Perhaps in high performance V8 models, but from my experience in base model 6 cylinder guise the Ford leaves the Holden for dead. As soon as I sit inside a VR/VS the first thing I notice is the flat hard seats and the interior which is pretty much unchanged (bar the top half of the dash) since 1988. Interior quality in both cars is bad, but it is blatantly bad in the Holden. Then in motion the first thing I notice is the serious lack of low-down torque, have to really step on it to get the 3.8 to move whereas in the Ford, just touch the accelerator and you're off, and the clunky, jerky gearbox in the Holden. The Holden also has a lot more engine and road noise, plus a rougher ride, and really vague handling. Just my opinion, it's not like these cars are relevant these days anyway.

My Uncle had a 107E Prefect and a 105E Anglia, my Dad at one time had a 51 Twin Spinner. My first car was a 1952 Austin and then a prcession of Vauxhalls a few holdens and then my 1st Ford was an XY Fairmont in 1973, have loved them ever since.
It also helps that I have worked for Ford dealers for 12 years.

My father had a ford Prefect as well in his younger years but I have to ask, what nick names did your fathers give them?

Ford Defect was one that was commonly used, and in the car clubs the most common vernacular of the name was Ford Prefuct. This mind you was what it was being called over 60 years ago and that kind of language was never appropriate back then.
My dad's prefect was always breaking down, and it once he sold it the new owner had owned it for about a week before he rolled it.
