I look it as a cheaper way of still being able to play with performance and engines and go fast. I got my first RC nitro car when I was 14 used it for about a year then in the past year I've gotten back into them with a mate and am up to 3 cars at the moment (2 1/8 buggies and a Revo truck) with more to come. I admit though, it would be a good midlife crisis still (not mine though because I'm only 19)

Considering I was having a read thorugh this, I thought I would add my hobbies up
- Nitro RC Cars (driving them, breaking them, fixing them, pulling them apart, breaking them again, and soon hopefully to race them) Got 2 1/8 buggies and a Revo 3.3 truck at the moment and planning to buy another 1/8 buggy soon and also a 2 stroke 1/5 buggy soon and then I'll start racing them to. I've been meaning to for a while - Finding stuff to do to the FG and keeping it clean - Playing around with computers - Random DIY stuff in the shed - For filling in some spare time, I started working on some plastic model car kits lately I kinda like anything car related, whether big of small or little projects These are the only ones I can think of at the moment. Cheers, John (PS I'm 19)

I like debating with people, I've been told that there are two sides to every argument and I'm always on the other side .
Having a good chat with random people while I'm on the train to TAFE every now and again, everyone is looking down at their phones, sleeping, trying to read the age awkwardly, if you don't like talking, you better hope you don't accidentally sit next to me, or you're in for a good 50 minutes conversation haha. I like working on my EL Fairmont Ghia now and again, its a real slow progress and it gets some father/son time with me and my old man as we both work on it together, he's a public servant and I'm an apprentice so we both know nothing about cars . But we've always got help from the friendly people on AFF, usually though we break something first then ask about it in here. That Falcon has cost me a lot of money, probably 2-3x what I bought it for with everything I have to replace on it/have replaced, but if I wanted no hassle I'd have bought a new Falcon from the dealership floor. I prefer modern cars, the earliest I like is generally 90s stuff, give me sensors, computers and lots of wires over a carby any day, but I can appreciate the effort put into any car. Video games, though not as much as I used to, like playing with a big group of people that will usually get me to jump on. |

I haven't had a chance to read through all the posts in this thread.
My hobbies are: - Hifi Equipment - I love my hifi system, and I'm always looking for more components to go with it, or to make it sound better. Most of the stuff I like is classic or vintage, you know the old silver face type stuff, the most modern items on it are the CD & MiniDisc units (both black face). I love scouring Cash Converters & Op Shops looking for both more unloved equipment ready to use, and also love scouring round for vinyl - expanding my vinyl collection is not only a hobby, its an obsession. - Collecting the odd model cars & Hot Wheels cars. Used to be pretty full on with the Hot Wheels, but its taken a back seat to the Hifi system now. - PC Gaming. Love it. Currently hooked on DayZ Mod at the moment - is there anything more fun than trying to survive the Zombie Apocalypse?

Ranked in no particular order
- Girl Guides (Leading, Olave-ing, Co-ordinating the Duke of Edinburgh Awards, Awesome-ing) - Baking. I like cake, what can I say - Playing piano and guitar - Reading, mostly sci-fi/fantasy and horror - Blogging - Photography - aaaannnnd, I'm taking up archery in the near future - oh yeah, and cars. But that's more of a compulsion and less a hobby these days

My XR8, and cars in general-thinking of getting a part time car/bike mods service off the ground.
My buell (road) and offroad motorcycles Shooting Don't get to do eitherof these enough Recently joined a swingers club...should have done it 10 years ago, would have saved a lot of stress and time wasted in denial on the wrong women in relationships. I am making a deliberate effort to get to more swap meets and car shows. I guess my hobbies are also part of my lifestyle. Retirement has its perks.......i'm 32. All the above is only 50% of the time. The other 50% i have my daughter.

I envy those of you who have work. I am not allowed to any more - health grounds. So I am stuck on an invalid pension. For me these are not hobbies but simply ways to keep occupied. All these are over the last twenty years before the pension just carry them on when I can afford to.
Model cars - Matchbox 1:64, Biante 1:64 and MicroMachines 1:bloody small (no more) RC Cars 1:10 Mini, Alfa romeo, Assoc 10T Truck, 2 x RC10 Buggies and F150 (no more) Repairing / Upgrading old Mac computers - sell them for $20 more than I pay (still) Living by myself has taught me to become a great cook - (still) Music - anything except scat jazz - sing with my daughter whenever she visits in English, Espanol, Italia, Deutsch and Nippon - (still) Massage pregnant women - occassionally When really stressed - Grand Turismo 4 Nurburgring Level 10 in a six car race driving a Honda S800 RSC with a fastest lap time of 8:09:xxx. One day I will break into the 7 minute barrier but after several thousand laps death may arrive before that happens. Wonder if the Grim Reaper would wait?

Traveling, camping, 4 wheeling up the mountain trails (Polaris Sportsman Touring 850 EPS), shooting, going to the hot springs, eating: ribs, steak, bbq wings, anything out of a Dutch oven, chocolate, ice cream! Used to be in to all the tech stuff, but I am finding it less and less fulfilling the older I get.

My hobby/ies...hmmm a pic tells a million stories...apart from a 5 figure+ amount on collectables and memorabilia and tripping over it, no matter where i walk at home,
Some of the time I go to Cons, most of the time the costumes are used to raise money for childrens charities and hospital visits etc Something i got into when at 40yo i thought my life wasnt making a difference to anybody and now through many experiences with children and their parents, i know it does...its the small rewards that make life worth living.
