You will defnitely notice a difference of 40kw, but moreso the torque increase. If it were me I would put the rebuild kit in your current engine though, saves having to do a swap further down the track.

I personally would take it as a challenge to see what my 190k old bottom end could put up with!

40kws and you'll be over the moon - until you get bored after week, then you'll NEED more :Up_to_som :

Hey Crazy-au, its all going well I haven't had a chance to get on the forum much lately. The car is finished it however this week is getting a new battery and a service then its in for a re-tune but all the work is done! I haven't taken any pics in ages this is the newest pic I have and its a few years old http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y67/au2/P1010410.jpg

The turbo has definatly been worthwhile and was worth it all in the end. I had to get a screamer pipe put on however which has made it very loud under boost it sounds a bit like a tractor. The car runs well still and has no problems at all so I can't really bring myself to get another car when it works perfectly. Ill post up a few pics/info over the next few days

I just read this thread and didn't see anything about rods and pistons (if it was there i am sorry someone quote it), it is a known fact the AU rods are pretty dodgey when under pressure from boosts. how did you over come this?

Is it really a known fact that the rods are dodgy? I know of two au engines, one with 250rwkw the other 270rwkw both completely standard with no rod issues..

nothing wrong with AU pistons and rods

if you want stronger pistons and rods goto atomic performance.. they do the 660kw bottom ends for BA turbos and can also get AU ones

Never knew AU rods were weak. Ive always known the bottom ends to be good for around 450hp.
