Got challenged by a 318 Drifter south of Scone, years ago. No contest really, I was driving my 5.8 ESP.

I like how Fletch mentions the shotgun seat to put your lunch on. Most bog stock trade or courier vans at the time had bench seats in them. Very rarely saw buckets in them.
Last van nats I went to were in Albury 2018.

Buckets suit PVs better somehow. All the cool ones I drooled over as a kid had buckets and a console. Bench seats seem to suit wagons better. I don't know how this is, and is more likely opinion based |

I follow this guy from Canada on YT, great fabricator and good tips.
Anyway he scored this show winning van from the 70's that's been in storage ever since. If you've got half an hour it's a great story as he tracks down the original owners and artists. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yR_xY2pr5-Y

She's a beauty.
Still amazes me how long those tail lights were in production. Cheap*rse Ford. Ford71V8, I must admit I'm partial to a big comfy bench especially being an ex courier at one time.

Hindsight and all that. Custom touches was what it was all about. Those later taillights work well on the older van (I still wouldn't do it either though) Same for the front end. As a youngster I wanted a coupe with XC rectangular headlights and grille, now I see the XA front and rear to be the pick of the bunch. |

That's awesome, seeing the loco on the side got me thinking.
How cool would it be to do an AC/DC tribute van, a Back in Black van with the trains from Hells Bells on the side and the big canon. Mmm, might start looking for an XC van

That loco mural reminded me of this very famous Panel van
(and another one with XC headlights) Last saw this at Birdwood Museum, likely still there. |

For the pommie car van fans.
Bad pic I know. It’s just around the corner from me. Seems to be a daily too.

Beautiful murals. I note the LE Monaro grille badge.

I had a great photo somewhere in my archives of me, my girlfriend at the time (now wife) and a cousin with his 1970's panel van, but alas I can't find it - Photo was taken in the mid 1970's
