Public servant works for the Government, eg, Tax Office, Centre Link or a Government Department.

What they do depends on what department, position, grade etc.

I get a Company car on top of that all expenses paid (BA XT Sedan) and super is another 9% on top of that.

All up its worth say $75K a year +$10K car + $6750 Super = $91K p.a. and I am 24.

I am currently in negotiations with my boss (who is more my partner since I help him build the company up from his garage in 2003 to the new 3/4 million dollar office we are about to move in to) to purchase 20% of the business. Then I will be on a salary of around $100K a year plus a new 4WD and $20% of the profits (usually between $150K and $200K pa. which will add $30K pa. to my income). Then there are the tax benifits on top of that.

I'd say on average I am way ahead of most people my age, but there are people younger then me doing even better.

Its funny you mention that your a drafty because we just hired one and she is starting on $20/hour and will go up to $25/hour over the next few months provided she improves the presentation quality of our plans. Give me a call if you want to move cities LOL!

Oh yeah, and I am selling the ute to help fund the purchase of the investment :
Where are you based mate? Just curious.

I Disagree. Mechanics & Joiners are the two lowest paid trades. Working on cars is not necessarily easy, and my job in the joinery industry takes a decent amount of time effort and training. I'm only on $13.50 p/h

Does that mean my job musnt be very difficult???
I'd like to see you try it.... :the_finge

I agree mate. Was going to comment on this as well. I have been in the industry doing this job working my way up for four years. I learn something everyday. There is alot to learn in the engineering industry i am in and with the knowledge and experience i have i am completing jobs such a schools, mental health wards, and the list goes on doing electrical design and communications from start to finish. I also do mechanical design if there is a need to. Weekly fee's for the work i get done would be in the vacinity of average 5-10grand. It just seems they can't just pay me a decnet wage. I need to wait and get a crappy pay rise every year and some time in the future like 5 to 10 years away i might be on 50-70grand. Experience, knowledge and responsibilty doesn't always play much of a role i'm afraid.

Where are you? i cannot find people to fill positions in my company with joinery or wood machinist experience, there is just no people around looking for work in Melbourne in the wood working industry.
Unemployement is now at an all time low, i can't find decent staff.

So much for the new laws causing unemployment....

I'm a carer and earn just under $20,000 py it's not the best paying work.
Did build some PC's for extra cash but haven't for 12 months now. Been looking for something to top up the wallet couple hours here and there.
