just a thought, we break it up between Falcon and Fairmont.

Can we break it up for Forte vs Futura ? Maybe have a sub categorie inside Falcon ?

Id love to be able to look at other Futuras and compare them to mine...

Hi Jeff,

If you click on the Falcon category from the home page, it lists each car's sub-category under each car's title. Clicking on this sub-category name will bring you to your category listing to list all Futuras.

Currently you're the only Futura on the site:
http://www.aufalcon.com/cgi-bin/inde...ct=cat&i=7&l=1

Regards,

Andrew.

Breaking up the series's is a bit much. There is a series selection in each cars profile as it is, I dont think splitting the catagories would make much sense as there would be around 50 catagories then.. bit too much given they are all AU's.

Good stuff. Who did the programming? Still seeing CGI is funny but it does the job!

I'm all entered and uploaded, nicely done everyone so far.

Dauphin wrote the program from scratch.

A huge leap forward frm the old site but I'm still getting used to the new way of uploading myself. So much easier and less of a drama but I have to learn HTML now.. or at least cut and past it better

I could have written a nice Java version, maybe included stuff like selecting things from a known list of options based on your car spec (like those online insurance quotes, I have all that data from an old project at work...) but then you need Java hosting and it's pricier than standard hosting. My ausmetal site is java based (which I'm re-writing as we speak) but it's mainly for me to play with stuff I don't get to at work.

As I said, nice job though. Good work Dauphin.

The tech doc's have to be loaded by Dauphin or myself. At the moment I'm still learning to load pics but text is a very simple and easy proceedure now as its done online rather than having to FTP up a whole page.

Casper/Dauphin,
To what extent did you want to create an information library in aufalcon.com? I'm thinking that there's a lot of potential for storing useful information that doesn't get published. For example, when people get insurance quotes they could put the details of the quote into a database. There are heaps of other things that could be done like quotes/costs of common mods, comparison of dyno results between different tuning companies etc.

I understand that the site is in early stages and hence is unlikely to see anything like this for a while but i'm curious to what you guys have planned and are open to.

Some good ideas there, hot xr6. This sort of thing existed on the old website as plain HTML article pages (eg. Chip Challenge) so no doubt aufalcon.com will be doing this sort of thing again as articles are transferred across and new ones created.

Or are you talking about more of a custom query data / search / comparison systems?

We are open to any and all ideas. There will be limitations of course however if the data is good then it can be of use.
Certainly articles and tech sheets are what we are looking for now. Things like "understanding audio setups" and "how to wire an Amp" or "dialing in a cam" would be really helpful sorts of items.
In future we will be doing other areas as they become relevant although insurance quotes may be a bit of a tricky one with the data becoming outdated quickly and different states, suburbs etc having very different figures for the same car.

Overall, any idea or suggestion will be looked at and, if enough people want it, it will most certainly be done if possible!

Sort of. The timeslip database format is what i'm thinking of. Something to provide answers for the old "is this a good price?" or "where can i get this?" type questions. Maybe even a list of workshops with descriptions/lists of what they offer and a rating of service.

Very true. However, any comparison is better than none. I hate the feeling of wondering whether or not you're getting ripped off, and it sucks having to wait for someone with the answer to stumble across your thread.
If i could be any help with something like this, let me know. From the end of november onwards I have uni holidays so i'll need something ot keep me busy.

There are a few displaying issues, through firefox.

- In car profiles, the comments are not wrapped to the next line.
- Bulleted points are also to the left of the column, appearing off the page.
- And the webpage has some blank space at the bottom.

Only little problems though, but will help to suit all web browsers.

Thanks for the reports, LG. Those bullets were strange in Firefox. No matter what I tried, I couldn't get them to sit IN the table they were part of. So I changed them to dashes. The extra space at the bottom is gone also, but I don't see any comments that require wrapping yet. Thanks again!

Oh yeah, by comments you meant the car details. I got confused with comments left by visitors.
