lol its okay stev. we all know that you are always on the defensive about holden. Why don't you ever admit you are a holden man though? maybe wally doesn't know why he had a fuel leekage but no matter how it happend, it has happend. Why would holden say that there has been no problems yet? beacause they don't want to alarm people who have invested alot of money in a brand new car. if wally wasnt the start of the problem then how did holden find out about it? on a test car that was supposed to be tested for how long and it was already on sale and they were testing it still? how do we no it wasn't split fuel problems but they made it sound little with this hose talk? we don't know and a manufacturer can manipulate what they want.

Well son, I'm probably old enough to be your father and don't need to lie. If you want to insult someoine then come right out and say what you are thinking instead of skulking like a fox.

I don't have to prove anything to you, but if you wish to follow up on my claims then please feel free to ring the Brisbane QFRA and ask them for validation, plus the Mitsubishi dealership next door to the Caltex who had their employess come take a look see.

I could scan the repair sheet that I got from Zupps that clearly states what happened, but idiots like yourself would find some reason to invalidate that.

If you are so naive to think that GM would actually let Joe Public know that there is a split tank issue you are need some growing up. If you read my post you would realise what I was saying and why the GM spokeswoman evaded me.

Unlike you I don't have the hide to lie and the audacity to negatively judge people for telling the truth. A large serving of humble pie would make you a more rounded and personable soul.

Whatever. I only raised the question because you have contradicted yourself a number of times.
First you say that your car's split fuel tank caused the recall. The only recall the VE has had is for a fuel hose which connects the fuel line to the injector rail.
VE Recall

But then you say:

But hang on, didn't you say that your car sparked a recall?

Am I going stupid? I read what was stated a few times and accept....from the comfy of my chair....that there isnt any contradiction in what was being discussed and the story can be validated? What GM or FORD or any other car manufactuer states for a cause of a recall can be taken with a grain of salt. Stop grabbing at straws and accept that recalls happen...to all makes....and the VE is a pile of poo! Stevz.... : again.

Dude you soound no better than any other one eyed biased Ford fan lacking maturity. Anyone can see and feel the VE is a vast improvement and makes the VZ look like a pile of poo perhaps but what you said isnt true. Not when it is kicking *** in awards and road tests by all the experts (not suspect biased reporters) and in the performance stakes is very hard to beat for the money.

Having said that I know what Wally said is actually fact. It seems that a couple of VE's have had fuel tank leakages according to a very good source.
Still doesnt make it a bad car in my book. I've driven them and they blew me away

I have never heard of an XC tank leaking, except from around the sender unit hole.

OF course I am biased! I have only and ever will own Fords! BUT as stated, I was mainly talking about about.....ALL......(glasses on) manufactuers can recall cars for any reason they want and say its for what ever they want. They tend to stretch the truth, especially on new models where they have spend trillions. FORD will do the same when its thee turn next year. The new Daewoo...sorry commodore should absolutley cream Ford at the moment and cant wait to see what Ford do next year. It will only mean they have to push the extra bit!..

AND yes I DO NOT like the VE one bit....and hate the Higher specs as they look absolutley ridiculaous with that stupid funny rear lights at the back! I am going by looks alone and was impressed with the 'Omega' when first saw it and thought 'bugger' looks not bad. But now they are popping up everywhere, specially the higher specs, I think they are the AU of the GM. No I havnt driven one and no I am way too imature, biased and one eyed to even consider too. Dont care what the experts say.......BUT on comparison to an ageing BA, they should be miles away but "Sun/Herald" only a "bit" better.

Its way to early to assume the VE's sales are going to hold, the first month it was alarm bells as they didn't sell that many, now its going gangbusters. Any new car will sell high in its first few months, we'll see how its going in a few months time to get a definative answer. I'd imagine it will drop down to VZ levels quite quickly as the general public don't really seem that impressed with the majority of the range bar the SS and SSV.

Two guys I work with are die hard Holden fans but they shocked me when the both agreed the VE looks like crap. Couldn't believe it.

For the real answers on why the VE is selling FAR more than the BF why dont we just go around one day and ask the driver/owners of a VE? Sure you will bump into red blooded Holden folk but the answers from the VE driving finge dwellers would certainly shed some light wouldn't it?

Rightly or wrongly, there are too many excuses why Ford cannot sell many Falcons.

13/10/06

Job 1

"Removed and replaced exhaust, tailshaft, handbrake cables, heat shields etc to allow access to tank. Lower rear subframe to allow tank removal.
Removed fuel tank and transfer fuel pumps, senders to new tank, fit new tank, reassemble. All Ok"

Job 2
Fuel hose replace VE/WM V8
Carried out work as per campaign bulletin.

Job 1 GM92193859
Job 2 NGZIPTIE

And I agree this is a great handling car. I wasn't miffed at the tank splitting, but that a spokeswoman would tell untruths about no customer reported problems, on behalf of the company.

Probably the only reason why holden are out selling ford is because the holden buyers dont want to admit that they are actually buying an inferior car and just following the rest of the herd. Ford is a superior car, and the day i cant get in my car repeatedly, and that is any of the three fords, and start the thing or it breaks down on me which it hasnt then i will give them up, but all three are great, and we have owned a few along the way that is why we stick with ford because partly for their reliability among other things, and also this advertising caper if you rely on an ad to sell a car then please, i am going to buy a holden because its so fast in the outback in the desert or wherever or stalking through the streets and growling, is that what you look for in a car.
All the advertisers have it wrong, why dont they stick to how many lites per kilometres, how much space, does it have air con you know the things you actually look for in a car, the price, how does it compare with 20 different models on the market. All i can see is some suped up 300kws machine ready for the race track being advertised. phew well thats my 2 cents worth for all it,s worth.

Are you really serious?
Perhaps you should look at it without your blinkers on LOL
Whether you like Holden or not is another story. Thats where some people go wrong. Instead of loving their own Brand for what it is they choose to hate the other side which does no more than cloud your emotions.

There are couple of reasons you can dislike the VE
1. Hate how it looks
2. Its more popular

The rest is all comparitive or close enough either way (except the V8s) to not matter so it comes down to brand loyalty or preference.

It's like school girls when they hate the hot chick that all the boys like.
"Ew look how she wears her hair!" "Guess what I heard about her?" "Omigod I think she has a huge nose" "Dont know what they see in her"

Sound familiar?

I havent seen any 300kw machine ads, maybe they are not out here yet. I'm sure people dont go rushing off to their local Holden dealer to buy one just because they saw it on an ad. Advertising is about brand presence. You see it enough times and it sticks in your head. Unless of course you're a fanboy and the ads dont matter :nutsycuck

Not even worth going there. I dont have blinkers and neither do many other members here so they are able recognise a good car when thay see one.
Would I buy one? Depends on what I want at the time. Would either be an F6 vs GTS or SS-V vs XR6T.
Working in a fleet management company I see all cars and brands.
Neither Holden nor Ford brands are superior. That claim is for children - "my dad owns a Holden so your Ford is crap" and I see a few grown kids on here talking like that.
Both are superior (in my mind) at providing large inexpensive performance saloons to the market. Both have their inadequacies or quality issues. Both have service issues. That is a neverending argument. Find the perfect car, there isnt one.
We drive or buy what we like that fits to (or above) our budget. I dont scowl at my friends according to what car they drive. I would be equally proud to have any of the above mentioned beasts in my garage and still have the same unbiassed view

the only reason toyota does so well is because most asian background people choose them because they are used to seeing them in their homeland....plus they get the idea that ford/holdens guzzel so much more fuel. in saying that though when i ask my asian friends what they like more holden or ford, they all said ford. they like the look better and the 6ts are the best 6s we have so go ford.

likeing a brand more does not mean it is superior...i like fords and i dont go much on ferrari but yes ferrari is the superior car. its pretty hard to prove what car is superior when they both are in the same price ranges because both holden and ford have good and bad traits. i like the gt because it looks better then the holden equivelents and it just had an ausome sound, good handling and great stopping abilities...besides, it is a GT. cheers

I dont understand what poeple are getting so worked up about. Buy whichever car you think is best, and let others do the same.

a) What does it matter how many buy each car if you are happy with your choice; and

b) Why sit on this forum and try and whinge and ***** and make everyone buy Fords when 99% of the people that read these posts already own one!!!

Geez. Keep the discussion to ACTUAL reasons that one is outselling the other, not justifying your purchase

Correct me if i'm wrong but i thought the powers that be on AFF actually own a few Commodores.
You might be shocked that many ford owners are also holden owners.

Australians tend to look down on themselves in some situations, are not brash like the Americans, and are larrikins like the Irish.

With our small population I think that Australia as a country has done extremely well.

Historically Asians have looked on Australians as lazy and undisciplined. IMO many Asians (including myself) want to be like Aussies and live a carefree life.

These are myths, yes Australians are larrikins and believe in a fair go but we also are hard working, innovative, active in many industries, and highly respected worldwide.

xcgxl if you truly believe what you wrote then your an idiot.

McDermott Holden Bowen.
Currently Advertising VE Omega for Invoice Price +$1 + On Roads.

Might just be me, but it seems a bit too early to be discounting like that.

Don't be fooled mate, sort of like Holdens "you pay what we pay" staff discounts that actually were bogus. Holden are like a sewerage plant - they are full of sh1t

BTW, in your pictures mate, the holden next to the blue bommo looks like a daewoo. The whole front end of the ve looks a little daewoo in the sense that it looks like what Korea would copy from ford, and then louse it up.

FUN FACT
Did you know that Kim Jong Il (I'm so ronery) is only conducting nuclear tests because he's peeved that Denny Mooney gave the orders for ve to south korea and not the north. In a quote by Mr Il to the international press he said "why everybody so fuggin stupid".

Sorry mate, but you might have to pull your head out of the sand to pick up the change from your 2 cents worth!!!
No-one can seriuosly believe the current Falcon range is any match for the VE as an overall package. All car designs are compromised to meet certain targets. For example; more strength = more weight = more power required = less economy. We don't have a car capable of meeting every design target, and consumer needs or there would only be one model car built in the world, by several different manufacturers perhaps. All cars have their good and bad points, it's just that at the moment the VE has more good points than the BFII...........simple. This may change when the new Falcon is released in a couple of years.....who knows? As the Commodore has out-sold and out-performed the Falcon for the last 10 years, I doubt the new Falcon will be good enough to better the Commodore.
