For me it's kind of arguing 2 points

1: Automation is killing jobs
2: The USA hasn't kept pace with technology

Quote:
As long ago as 1997, he found at Kodak that, despite a highly-automated production line, the company could not make digital cameras in the US because there just weren't the people with the knowledge to make the parts. In 2009, he co-authored a paper showing the Amazon Kindle could not be made in the US, even though the core technology was developed there.
So for me I 100% agree with the notion of being able to manufacture in the USA or AU. There might be far less jobs in the new world of automation but there should be some jobs... not like what is happening now.

I'm starting to sound like a broken record, but Trumpanigans aside, December 2017 won't be pretty for hundreds of thousands of people in Australia...

With this " ??? " doing the talking over the next few years, Trump, if he decides to run for a second term, will bolt it in.

Holden and Toyota would have shut down by then, with the component supply industries having folded in the wake...

A Sudden Change in our MSM ????

Bill Shorten – Engaging in Fake News !

Tonight here in Sydney by accident, I watched the start of channel 7 news at 6:00 PM.

The lead story was about the reduction in Sunday penalty rates.

Honest Bill Shorten came on and raved on a bit and then trotted out this man that said he was severely effected by this change.

Then to my surprise, the announcer ( Mark Fergurson ) then shows a shot of this “victim” electioneering for Bill Shorten and was then outed by the Mark as a Labor Party activist. Then he showed a statement from his employer ( Coles ) saying he is covered by an enterprise agreement and is not effected by Sunday penalty rates.

To my absolute surprise, the news anchor then said that Bill Shorten was engaging in some “Fake” news.

Channel 7 ( Sydney ) just gained some credibility, and Shorten probably just lost another 2 % primary vote.

i do like how the left and right fight while the middle burns whens the middle going to rise again and kick both of these sides out. It would seem never as having an opinion no matter how polarizing or just plain retarded is apparently better then being flexible on issues in politics these days.

I would say the right tend to be winning more than fighting, and every success Team Trump have just crushes the left.

Trump will target the 100 million non-voters, and with that, I find it hard to see anyone else flipping the states he won - and more of the left will jump ship compared to the right.

But as the left do, when they get just a sniff of a story that's anti-trump, they run with that article like the people when the doors are opened at the Myer Stocktake Sale.

Trump needs to deliver jobs to the rust belt, and the expectation is those will be WELL paid jobs.

If he doesn't, he'll just blame someone else.

I think he is out of his depth, this is not like running your own business.

Having said that, the electoral voting system is bias to the southern states, so regardless of the pandemonium he'll probably be re-elected.

The Democrats are a "rabble" without Obama.

And so the process has begun...

Solicitation Number: 2017-JC-RT-0001
Agency: Department of Homeland Security
Office: Customs and Border Protection
Location: Procurement Directorate - IN

The Dept. of Homeland Security, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) intends on issuing a solicitation in electronic format on or about March 6, 2017 for the design and build of several prototype wall structures in the vicinity of the United States border with Mexico. The procurement will be conducted in two phases, the first requiring vendors to submit a concept paper of their prototype(s) by March 10, 2017, which will result in the evaluation and down select of offerors by March 20, 2017. The second phase will require the down select of phase 1 offerors to submit proposals in response to the full RFP by March 24, 2017, which will include price. Multiple awards are contemplated by mid-April for this effort.

Yes of course they will - whether they indirectly reclaim the costs or not only time will tell

Interesting to see what they come up with design wise - if it was me I'd probably go precast concrete approx 5m high with some razor wire to top it off - would probably have to bury the base a meter or so for good measure on top of a substantial footing - something like that would easily run up $2500-$3000/m - how long is the border?!?

I just cant see anything else being much chop - would be too easy to breach

NAFTA could help pay for it, plus he has several other options. Main thing is it's getting built.

No wall will stop planes or subs (A-10's will though) it's more for the foot traffic. Plus they can tunnel under it no matter how deep it is. But now the wall will have an extra 15,000 border patrol and ICE working in conjunction.

G'day....Fake Press , Fake news....Joh v Jana...on "Sale of the Century" spoof many moons ago .https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IxVEmYQUKzA ..One of their real tangles wasn't too dis-similar either..https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RuAV...U#t=376.244768..
Maybe Mr Trump has Aussie connections with ol Joh Bjelke Petersen...I wonder does Melania whack out a good pumpkin scone...
Mr Trump is really copping it from Alec Baldwin / Saturday Night Live as is Stephen Bannon making SNL rating really highly..He is nothing if not an entertainer..Whether he finishes up as a decent President is anyone's guess..Cheers Rod..

G'day...Just found a report..https://www.forbes.com/sites/maddieb.../#6db2268d50e4 . Alec Baldwin aka President Trump is calling regular appearances on SNL quits soon ..Paid only $1400 each time but it's the highest rating for 24 years..He has movies coming out quite soon and this is getting in the way a bit apparently...I wonder what happens with the actors who play Stephen Bannon , Sean Spicer , and so on ...
Trump is not a fan of SNL unsurprisingly but early on his administration gung ho , right or wrong announcements has provided manna from Heaven for comedians and the press...
Surely he must know that so why he continues to mention 'fake news and lying press" constantly is why they keep chasing him...
Maybe a bit less Gung ho and a bit more diplomacy might let him get on with his real jobs of office... Cheers Rod..
