I came across this the other night.

13 ‘Rules’ for Being Friends With an Introvert
https://introvertdear.com/news/9-rul...oAcligGtKtWnKQ

I am very much an introvert and found myself nodding to numbers 1, 3, 4, 6, 8, 9, 10 and 11. And especially number 13!

Wow, thanks for sharing that. I've always thought of myself being smack bang in the middle of introvert vs extrovert. All those silly tests I've done at work tell me I'm an extrovert. Yet I can relate to pretty much every single point mentioned here.

Well, well, well.. after having to be 'on' for lunch and dinner with the family yesterday I slept until lunch time today. This socialising business can take it out of you.

Take care everyone

first off Happy New year to everybody on the Fourm!

What a crap year 2020 has been. Covid 19 knocked us for six in Australia and the whole world.
It wrecked the worlds economy ours included, but there is light at the end of the tunnel with a Vaccine on its way next year.

On the plus side i found work in September last year. I said on this forum early in the year not long after Covid started that when its all over " i would love to meet some of you guys and my be we could Organise a dinner on a Saturday night"?

I am still happy to do that and travel to wear its going to be. My mother in law was talking to a old lady who went thru the Great Depression in Australia and she also remembers the Spanish flu that hit Australia in 1919 and she told my mother in law "this is the worst year she can remember because of what covid has done.

All of us have been in lockdown at one time or another and i don't suffer from Depression or Anxiety but i get bored if i am not doing anything and Covid has given me time like most of us to fix things around the house that i have been putting off for a long time.

I put my Mondeo up on car ramps and washed the underside of it, changed the Cabin air filter that's inside car which was really a pain in the backside job but i got it done.

The most important thing i also did was keep in contact with my old mates ive known for a long time over 40 years talked to them over the phone because i wanted to see if they are "OK" and they wanted to see if i was OK also.

If we cant see each other because were in Lockdown at least we can keep in contact on the phone.

So lets look after each other and we all hope 2021 is a lot better year for all of us.

Ok all.

I'm my experience this is a learning lesson.

Do not go to Hospital. If you do demand a bed or leave to get help elsewhere.

I was amazed by the frontline emergency of what I remember but equally disgusted by the hospital staff as my mental issues "not their fault".

Well * that as half the room had broken arms etc and a bloke with a Motocross bike went ahead of me as "just an accident".

Bull****. That's a reckless action he took yet I turn up with Police and told to wait as not a priority even though I rang and followed protocol?

Bizarre.

So stay safe all of you and hope 2021 is a great year, there's some great people (and some nasty people) on here so look after yourselves.

Chris

I was less than impressed with my emergency admission a few years ago, by the time I saw the doctor and spoke to him I had been waiting a few hours and calmed down somewhat. His advice was to try yoga..

This was after I was told to go to the mental health unit after speaking to a nurse on the phone when I was at breaking point. The nurse spoke to my mother and told her to take my car keys away and not leave me alone until I had been to the hospital.

Chris - maybe they figure if you are sitting in the waiting area you can be 'watched' and are not at high risk, just a thought.

I'm almost at the end of having two weeks off work and there hasn't been much sunshine or clear days at all around here to get out and enjoy it. I had napped almost everyday and spent way too much time on the lounge watching TV.

Maybe I'm lazy, or depression is ramping up again or maybe I just needed a break to rest and reset..

I'm now back on the vitamin D tablets because there is no sun around, I'm trying to clean up the diet (or have it be less terrible) and also getting some exercise in. I don't want to set massive unobtainable fitness goals so i'm aiming for improving over yesterday and trying for 2km walking a day.

Quite frankly now in a good place I'm bloody disgusted by it.

Sure mental illness can't be seen like a broken arm etc but just So pathetic.

Anyway I'm over and out from here.

Have a good 2021.

Mate, just find someone who you after a bit of time gets to know you and who you find comfortable to talk to. I have 2 docs. Ive been head ****ed by 14 months of a legal issue thats almost over. So some things i preffer the bloke, others i prefer the lady. But, ive gotten to sort of know both over time. So im not just another one like what seems to be how docs on hospitals are. And im not talking bad towards doctors in hospitals, they are under stresses of their own.
But, talking about stuff, thats why i like the lady gp. Injuries, thats why i like the bloke. Not affraid to put preassure on and ask does that hurt.
But its all about being comfortable, and knowing its all confidential. The gp/doc/ whoever, isnt going to go home and talk shop. They arent allowed to.
Im heaps confident in my legal team also. Both my solicitor, and her junior, they will let me know if they are talking candidly. But, theyre both awesome as people. Absolute robot lizards when it comes to their work, but, still, people who im comfortable to deal with.

My last couple of posts in here were pretty down trodden.

Since my birthday at the very end of last year, I have been in a better mood.

Can't pinpoint the exact reason, a few things have changed though.

The biggest change was letting go a client in my business that I had been with for 15 years. Trying to keep this person happy over the last year was dragging me down, keeping me awake at night. At one point last year he belittled me by saying what I do was "not rocket science". I have lost a lot of income because of my decision but what is the point of the money if your miserable and angry pursuing it. I feel like I am back in charge of my own business, not letting that person run two thirds of it.

I have also been just letting things happen rather than working myself up over things I have no control of. I am only one person and it's ok to not be all things to all people at all times.

I can't say how long this uplift in mood will last but at least I am moving in a new direction.

Checking in today since its been months since Ive written anything.
I wont go into a novel length level of detail so here goes:

- Worked my bum off leading up to xmas.
- Had plans to go to the GC and Cairns after xmas to see family and get a break from it all
- Trip was good but it was short as I had to be back in time for work
- Noticed how much weight I have packed on in the last 9 months
- Joined up with Noom to try and release this funk in my head and get on top of the weight gain.
- Lungs have not been great. Well they never were but my sleep levels are not great because of it.
- Finding fatigue is catching up due to all the late nights trying to keep up with work
- I feel like I'm taking 2 steps forward and 1 step back sometimes.
- Feel like I need to take a step back from social media too. Far too much negativity Im reading right now.
- I want to buy a weekend fun car to go cruising in but not something that will give me anxiety in case something happens to it. (It's the reason I sold the Liberty). So if you can recommend cheap suggestions on a car to buy under 20k that is fun and wont be a nightmare to maintain please DM me.

1. That is still a net result of one step forward, so keep going.
2. Agree. I took a 2 week break from all things social media and it did my head a world of good. What people write on social media is not always representative of what the majority of people think or behave outside. Now I just read them as "entertainment".

What is it about the liberty that gave you anxiety? I might have something in mind, but obviously want to check its not going to give you the same trigger as the liberty.

The liberty I spent a lot of coin in and everything on it was almost perfect to my tastes in terms of look, power, handling, comfort, sound and street appeal. It got to the point I was almost afraid to take it out driving in case something happened to it. Not the way a car like that should be treated and in the end I sold it to a mate who would drive it the way it should be driven. He's using it as a family daily now.

Refer to my DM for other criteria

What about a Mountain Bike ? Go bush, clear your head, help with your lungs and weight......

I had a 69 Big Block Mustang Fastback and a 76 XC Coupe. I was paranoid about them both as you were to the Liberty.

I bought a HZ ute, 253 4 speed, had all the goodies on it from factory but needed a resto. Owed me about 12k in the end. Was a lovely cruiser but also handy being a ute.........

Got much more enjoyment out of the ute than the other two and wasn't paranoid about it............

How about a nice car that can carry a mountain bike?
One of my fav things to do. Put the bike in the boot of the v8, take the dog to a remote off beat track and just ride whilst he trots beside.

+1 for the Mountain Bike, I've worn 3 out in the last 4 years or so, flogged the absolute puss out of them and never felt better both mentally and physically. I always miss riding it while away at work and can't wait to get home and find new tracks or just burn up the old ones, I also take them away with me on the boat, they have done wonders for me...

THIS ^^^

A V8 Manual ute wouldnt go astray. Room for the MTB, the dog and some fun without the anxiety. Could consider a *cough* Holden SS ute *cough* and not feel too bad about it.

I love cycling. Love my road bike but yeah have been thinking about getting a MTB to take to Kuitpo Forest or up near Marino in Adelaide for some off road fun too. Could kill 2 birds with 1 stone?

I came across this article yesterday and though it could be helpful -

The gentle act of pottering can give the mental break we crave.

https://www.smh.com.au/lifestyle/hea...27-p56x5u.html

"Pottering was “any kind of gentle activity – that could be in the home, could be outside the home – without a definite plan or purpose where you meander from one thing to another”."

Hi all.
How are we all travelling?

Hope all good and I'm now refusing to take my medication.

I don't suggest it at all but it's worked so far for me.........

Just put a deposit on a car.

That made me happy.

It's a stupid decision I guess but I've always wanted one a life too short imo (just a second car)

Who said it's a stupid decision? Don't worry about what anyone else thinks. My friend's think I'm a tight *** for still driving a 2004 falcon, but I absolutely love it and don't care

Congrats! What car is it?

Cheers mate!!

Well apparently they are very unreliable, and as my health not great I should be putting money elsewhere. (apparently)

But I've decided to enjoy life and if waste money so be it.....it is better than not being here!!!

You guys and girls will laugh but I think look and sound great.
