I spoke to my dealer today and cancelled my order for an XR8, so maybe one other lucky person will pick that one up. Not happy with what's happened with Ford and its attitude to the Australian buyer.

So after 30 years of buying Fords I'm off to other pastures.

Good luck to all.

They're holding buyers over a barrel and every 5 mins there's a "H#ld#n Lets go there (ducky)" ad - why aren't Ford at least advertising Falcon?

I work in a dealership, in sales, I have very few enquiries, currently the dealership has two non xr8 falcon orders, these orders are not yet filled and will not be delivered for four months, if they advertised they might find that people would actually want them, and they can't supply them, there is enough to fill the dribs and drabs orders, and that comes at the cost of $0 in advertising. Why change things at this stage, Australian manufacturing is in wind down mode

Good news is that my Dealer has been allocated 10 units for 2015, however they are all Auto's.
I have ordered a manual in Smoke.Apparently the Stock Controllers are working with other dealers to swap amongst themselves to fill the orders on hand - i really hope they can secure a manual for me. So until that is done i wont know if my order is secured.

Also mention the talk of a price increase. I was told there is nothing official, but they are quoting an extra 1K to any new enquiries. They are hoping that the increase will not apply to existing orders held - Ill find out more next week.

Has your dealership sold any FGX.
I work as a commercial delivery driver in South East Qls-and outside dealers have only seen 2 fgx on the road both XR8,s.
I drive about 400km a day.

I would suggest that Ford arent that interested in selling them on mass. I guess only the die-hards are the buyers of this model which is a real shame

I saw an XR8 near work the other day. Actually, I heard it first, made me look around. Which is a good effort, as the Barbagallos boys drive exotics - Ferraris, Maseratis, Lotuses etc - up and down that road, and it takes a decent sounding exhaust to get my attention nowadays. It wasn't quite in the league of some of those cars, but not embarrassed at all.

Hi bear,

You may have a couple options,

1. Explain to the dealer your circumstance and the XR8 being so limited they may just let you off the hook and return your deposit without penalty as they may have someone themselves ready to take it.

2. The contract they drew up did it have an estimated delivery date? And if it did is August over 30 days? As my contract stipulates if they don't deliver within 30 days of the estimated delivery date that the contract can be ended withoit penalty.

I got out of the first contract as they lied to me about several things, and said I would get a first allocation and then bumped me to the second. After a threat to speak with the Dealer Principal, I had my money back the next day.

The other option is to wait, I don't know your circumstances or reason for wanting out, but is there any chance things could change and you will be in a position to still take the car come august?

I may be missing some facts but what is holding Ford up in delivering these xr8 beasts to customers? They are only selling approx. 370 cars a month at the moment so are they only manufacturing 2 days a week or something?

They can only build V8 engines at between 5 to 7 a day.

Ok, after a bit of advice here from those experienced in these sorts of matters.

I'd love to get my hands on an FG X XR8 and left my run until now to organise something. That was based on some advice from a friend who works at Ford to not get worried about looking around until now. Will be having words to him when I see him at Bathurst this year, that is for sure!

Anyway, the sales person I bought my ST from is not taking any more orders at their dealership, as they have exhausted all current allocations and do not want to take on more given that they feel they will not be able to supply.

So, thanks to a fellow AFF member, I have found a dealer who will most likely be able to supply me with one in the colour and trans combo I am after, around the time that my ST comes off lease and at a decent price (subject to confirmation that I still waiting on).

The problem I have is that the dealer is based in Queensland and I am in Vic. Obviously, with all things being equal, I would prefer to purchase a car much closer to me than that.

Apart from ringing around every dealer around the state, is there any way to be able to find out if any dealers have any cars that are yet to be spoken for?

Otherwise just get it shipped to you. When we bought our XR6T I didn't step foot into the dealership. It was all done over the phone. I just picked the car up from the transport company depot.
