Some more great news for me, well not really.
Found out today that the person who was assigned to assess my bike early last week is on holidays for 12 weeks! Now they have allocated another assessor to review my bike and they say it will be done by Friday. It will be 5 weeks since the incident that my bike will get assessed. I do not understand why they are screwing me around, I am the one who got injured, my bike damaged, yet I am the one paying the consequences. As you could imagine I am irate at the moment. There is nothing I can do, its in the insurance companies hands. If I take legal action it will be another couple of months!

The lights I have on my bike (not any more!) are:
Moon Shield 60 Rechargeable Rear Light $59 5 modes : Standard / High / Over drive / Strobe / Flashing http://www.moon-sport.com/product-detail.php?id=11 Moon Mask 5 LED Rechargeable Front Light $48 4 modes : Standard / High / Strobe / Flashing http://www.moon-sport.com/product-detail.php?id=10 Both last a long time in between charging via USB, cars definitely see you...when they are paying attention. What lights are other people running?

Yeah budget stopped me getting wheels, was tempted to go for some Zipp 404 clinchers
I think Quattro's are a good all-rounder for sub 1750gram and 35mm aero style wheelset, I think they will suit my 105kg.....for the time being. The best thing about wheels is that they can be upgraded at any time. These are the Fulcrum Quattro wheels

yeah i was looking at them myself except in campag (same wheel). i was looking at campag scirocco 35 but ended up going with the zonda (fulcrum 3). for 105kg its probably better to go the higher profile for the time being. the scirocco 35's are slightly cheaper as well.

Nice one Barnsy!!! Those wheels are good, few guys at work have them. They'll take a fair amount of punishment and not break a sweat too.
Love the S-Works bikes, and having ultegra is always a good thing!

Nice pick up.
I'm off to the bike shop tomorrow.... the claim on my Ciocc was a 1 week turnaround - thanks NRMA. Not sure what i'm going to order, will talk to the shop, might order a new group / wheels and get a custom frame built.

I did my hardest ride ever yesterday afternoon. I have done longer rides, a few 100km+ rides. But this 91km of torment. I was not fit enough for this. The hamburger and milkshake I had in Mansfield I had burned through by Jamieson, and that is where the real climbing began and I was already out of fuel. 3000m of climb.... Trashed. Had to go slow on the descents which was frustrating. My nine year old Avanti Kona is really starting to feel its age.

I had to go slow on the descents as my forks flopping around in frame, bit scary. Tried stopping and differing tensions etc. but the cup bearing thingo or whatever it is must be cactus.

Ok then. I'm looking at getting a TT bike for the GC Tri next month which is essentially half the distance of a real triathlon. I've done the 10km run and the 1.5km swim a couple times, but never done any sort of riding. I don't want to be a long distance rider on a traditional road bike, I'd prefer to have something geared towards Tri's.
There are a few 2013 Avanti Kona's on the bike exchange, but I've less than no idea about what I need and was curious about these good looking bits of metal (???). |

I'd be careful about jumping straight on a Tri bike.
If it is half distance, does that make it a 90km ride? If so, a road bike will do that just fun (just ask any road riders in here). Plus you'll have better gearing for someone who hasn't ridden before, better seating position. Road bikes are areo enough, unless of course you're competing in a TT and everyone else is running a TT bike. Though, that is all up to you. In any case, I would highly recommend looking for a bike that has a good groupset. Shimano divides their gear in to the following levels: - Dura Ace (top of the line) - Ultegra - 105 ... the rest. I'd say look for bikes that have 105 at a minimum, but Ultegra if you can justify the cash.

I'd just get a road bike and throw some TT bars on it for now.
The most crucial thing is getting the bike fit right.

Ive been Drooling over a new bike. Unfortunately I have to take a trip to Sydney to see one in the flesh.
Its a Pashley Gov-Nor. http://www.pashley.co.uk/guvnor/index.html I am digging the 30s retro style and its a nice quality bike that is Made in the UK. |

You'll have to invest in a tweed suit and grow and narly moustache to ride it with justice.
