After having ordered my manual smoke FGX XR8 late October 2014, I am told it is here tomorrow, tint and my mods (oil breathers) to be installed Monday/Tuesday, and pick up Wednesday, with a work trip slotted for Friday from Newcastle to Port Macquarie...

I've been having a few ideas if i should put stripes on or not when i get an XR8, i don't want to go too overboard like with the hockey stick stripes (which i think doesn't suit the FGX style TBH)...i don't have photoshop, so this is abit of a rough job based off the GS style stripes but i think it would look pretty good.

Hmm, that could work also...but i just thought it would probably be easier to follow the line of the indent in the doors.

Just want to know if anyone who has ordered a new XR8 been receiving updates via emails from Ford concerning there build stage, the reason I ask is mine is due next month and have'nt received any updates. I questioned my Dealer today and he said some people are getting them and others don't, double checked correct email I gave them as well. They had a lightning strike XR8 waiting in the showroom for its new owner to pick up, looked very nice, also had a XR6 in the new aero blue there also, looked better than I thought it would

Anyone else think the back of the XR8 would look better with the chrome garnish matched with body paint and the badge higher up?
Like this (very rough but you get the idea):

Just got my FGX XR8- one word-Dope.
Big thanks to David Winter for the engine- Love the car with manual- cannot understand the complaints about the box-is tight and precise-and for me the handling with the manual box sits better for me- I can feel what the rear is up to. I had more fun punting this tonight than the BMW M3 4 litre v8.....

Not usually a fan of big wings and all, but I really feel these XRs need a taller, chunkier rear wing from the factory.

Yep i agree, when i first went in to a dealer to see an FGX XR, it was the first thing i picked out...can't even fit ya hand under it, an inch or two taller and similar to the fpv gt style would be better.

Just for guys that have newly picked up an FGX XR8, a few things that may help some:
1. I picked up the car yesterday with 25 on clock, last night did about 160 km, with the last 35 very spirited. So, I put two JLT/Herrod oil separators on, at the dealer with 25 km from factory. I checked the oil separator cannisters this morning, drivers side had like a large tablespoon full in it from 160 km spirited driving. Non drivers side had like a line 5mm long by 1/3 mm or less in thickness, just like a smear-sweet bugger all. But, I would recommend when buying new put the oil separator on drivers side-no brainer. This is to me a requirement that should be done to prevent the intake diffusor becoming coated with oil and loosing it's efficiency. 2. Brakes felt doughy and seemed to have too much give with no bite- gave me no confidence. I then did a breaking in session late last night, ie 11 runs of rapid fire accelerate to 100 -hard braking down to 10-15, immediately repeat, doing this some 10-12 times-brakes should be smoking and stinking nicely, then drive at constant speed of some 60 -80 for 30 minutes, then park up for the night. The brakes now feel much much firmer, solid and high, and have bite. Anyway, my two tips that may help others.

Go to the thread show and shine and look at the FGX thread- I posted photos of my car yesterday, one showing an internal shot of engine. You will see that the top of both rocker covers at the front is a pipe that comes out the top front of both rocker covers- is a vacuum pipe that connects to the intake manifold- this sucks air from the engine, but given the suction, for some reason on the drivers side especially the air sucked includes oil. This is not good because the air and oil then goes into the top diffusor plenum area and then into the engine itself. The oil separator causes the sucked air and oil from the engine travelling through the vacuum pipe to go into the canister, firstly through a metal gauze filter, where oil coats/is trapped by the metal gauze and then drips into the bottom of the canister, and the air without oil continues out the pipe on the other side, and then continues via the vacuum tube to the intake manifold connectors, without oil. That's the theory, and based on my observations they work, you can see the 2 black canisters with round blue stickers on top connected to the vacuum tubes on both rocker covers. Cheers
