I dont even think its a real SS. I dont think ive seen one with door mouldings like that.

nah don't think it is either, thought I saw a SS sticker on the back but looks like a HDT Brock special glass kit.

Today, Melb. CBD: XY, GT (real?), silver; had attitude, healthy sound, personalised B/W full reg number plate suggesting he is at least a drag racing fan or even that the Falcon is not just a road car.

Also: white Capri convertible, club permit plates.

I was going to say I think it's a tribute car. Certainly it didn't look genuine and it had a sticker on the back saying " turbo 38" whatever that means

Looks tidy. I will say that Ice-Mint-Silver was never a favorite of mine, very wishy washy. How good would that car look in Silhouette, Luscious or Blue Pearl.

It's a "Country Dealer Team" commodore. A Business that was set up by Jim Faneco & based in Melbourne with support from various country dealers. Initially he started with Gemini's & offered stage 1, 2 or 3 packages - but he also did a few commodores.

I have a base model Fairmont in that colour, glad to see it's not just mine that has a different shade of bumper to the rest of the car.

I remember the Gemini's, good package only problem was CDT wasn't too worried about compliance or ADR's which opened a can of worms if you ever needed to make an insurance claim or roadworthy them.

Now that I zoomed in on the rear sticker. yes. CDT and like Rallye commented remembering the Gemini. remember seeing the Gemini's too.

I always loved that combination, and often dreamed of an AU III Fairmont V8 Wagon in Silhouette or Barossa Red with Tickford wheels, Tickford suspension and Momo steering wheel and gear selector.

I'm glad this has sold, I would have a hard time not buying it............

It's not a Tickford 'model'. It's a regular Ford with Tickford 'enhancements'. I think that the auction house has stretched the truth a bit by calling it a Tickord V8.

According to the Tickford plate it only received a Momo steering wheel & 17" alloys.

Most people tend to stretch the Tickford link with any Falcon fitted with Tickford accessories. In a sense, if it has a Tickford build plate, I guess that is true enough.

Even un-optioned Fairmont Ghia's and Fairlaine's with the VCT engine, which was standard, get called Tickford's.

What I love about this area is that buyers had a choice! In theory, you could even send a Forte through the Tickford workshop.

Think about this, you could order a Forte sedan with a V8 engine and manual transmission, tick the option box for a Tickford body kit, sunroof, Tickford suspension, Momo steering wheel and gear knob and Tickford 17" wheels. Now, that spec would be far too close to the price of an XR8 for anyone to bother doing this, but Ford allowed it to happen.

Compare that to now where even a Mustang, one of the most factory customizable cars in the world, Australian buyers are denied the choice of wheels, interior colours, restricted body/transmission options, mechanical omissions....................good if you like a black interior with black wheels, boring if you don't.

The same thing happened with HSV in the 90s. You could order an Executive or Calais & have a minor additions fitted by HSV & it got an HSV plate.

They fixed this around VT time where there re-named the HSV accessory division as HBD (Holden By Design).

I have the Tickford TB on my 95LTD and i rang Tickford to help me set up the base parameters, they basically told me to go away. Nobody knows about that stuff anymore, Ford said its not on the original engine cant help. Good ol' AFF to the rescue.

That would be a few days of extreme pleasure! My first car was Barossa Red, so I know it rewards effort..................

Nice car, that colour red, Barossa i think you said? Might look into that when i respray the 95 LTD it is an original Cardinal Red but i do like this one

Barossa Red replaced Sparkling Burgundy and ran introduced very late in the AU II run, at least April 2001 and was available until April 2003 on the BA Falcon. Luscious replaced it.

Barossa was a more vibrant hue of the colour, Sparkling Burgundy was slightly deeper. Kinda like how Seduce was brighter and Emperor Red was deeper.
