I chose white as it doesn't attract as much heat as darker colours, easier to see and is a no-cost option on so many cars.

If I lived near or at snowy climates, a bright red or Black Silhouette would have been my next choice for colour since white would not be a good idea.

Always smile when i see comments like that, actually black is bugger all difference in the temp of the car inside, the glass is actually the biggest heat transfer medium and has more impact than the colour

Spotted this Taurus in Melbourne CBD today, stickers over the badges and disguised inside. Very similar styling to the FGX, but much more bloated looking.

It's an American automobile. Far better off buying European as the prices will be comparable and engineering/quality is much better with Euro cars.

Does look very much like the FG-X though and highly likely they're testing this as a Falcon replacement.

I agree some what. Might be more cohesive in design but the falcon looks lighter, streamlined and not as bloated.

They're creeping in,as the old FGII XR6Ts are being put out to pasture.
Seeing more and more in Sydney, alongside FGs and VFs.

Hey everyone,

Just re-iterating that I am aware of a black XR8 auto available for immediate delivery in Vic metro if anyone is interested. Have been advised that "pricing will be fair"

If you want more details, shoot me a PM.

The decision to get out of XR8s and go exclusively XR6T (and the odd F6) for Ford HP vehicles was made around mid-2000s ('05, '06?) for fuel economy reasons. Heard all about it whilst getting booked one day, in my BA 220 Barra XT Narooma Blue. The officer explained that the BA XR8s had to be filled twice a shift (compared to SS once a shift) and obviously less often for XR6T. (btw, he gave me a discount on kmh exceeded)

Cars made specifically for Chinese markets are usually low cost versions with specific things the Chinese like, mostly more rear leg room. The chinese Taurus is essentially a low cost stretched Mondeo. And I think they would probably skimp on the safety equipment as well. Usually cars that are built to be sold in China have some safety gear removed AFAIK.

Low cost to build. Not in terms of equipment levels. They skimp on build costs with cheaper materials.

I can tell you it had nothing to do with fuel economy. A XR6 turbo drinks just as hard when used for this type of duty.

It was due to numerous cases of the BA/Bf XR8's shutting down under urgent duty, and particularly when conducting hard u-turns. No one (Ford included), could sufficiently explain why this was occurring, although it was suggested that it was an alternator issue (apparently not up to the task of all the extra load and police equipment).

I believe they are not using FGx XR8's now because of the demand by private buyers. Case of why would they fleet a model at big discount when they can't keep up demand to private buyers paying full freight.

Had my new XR8 2 days, done 266 Klm so far and loving it, that motor is awesome and the manual is great. Did first mod today and replaced the 4 interior lights, boot and number plates with LED globes, much brighter now, dissappointed there is no foot well globe holders under dash to put LED's in like my BA has, next mod will be disconnecting the bimodal and buying a K&N air filter.

I was lucky enough to drive the upcoming 5.0 Mustang (American import LH drive) the other day at a track in Victoria. I'm happy to report that my FG X XR8 is noticeably quicker than the Stang. It wasn't timed or anything but it certainly felt quicker. The kick back on the 8 feels so much more powerful. The ride in the 8 also feels more firm than the Mustang but I'm sure the Stang will feel different with the 19s on and the lower profile tyres. The exhaust note of the Mustang is better at idle than the 8 though. So after driving the Mustang and feeling a little underwhelmed it makes me so happy to know that I have bought a car of exceptional value for the money in the XR8.
